I am using LyX through a VNC display. Everything works fine, except that
fonts in LyX display in a very low resolution. Trying to modify the font
settings (fixed or scalable, screen DPI) in lyxrc did not change a thing.
I have made sure that VNC can access all fonts in my X

I got Lyx on my WinXP pro (I don't think it's worth installing Linux just for this
prog).
At the beginning everything was just fine. Sometimes Lyx (or better Cygwin)
disappeared without a warning, but that was only mildly annoying. But the day before

I think you can use the nicefrac command in the units package, e.g.

(like \LaTeX) other solitary LaTeX commands like
\theendnotes, etc.
The ability of customizing these things would

I use LyX 1.6.3 (installed the mac version, so no fink or other port) on an
Intel Mac 10.5.7 and experience a rather high cup usage by LyX even when
it's doing nothing. I just have the LyX window open and watch 'top' next to
it. The cpu shoots up to 50% and more for LyX with it doing nothing.

Just type M-m m !! IN MATH-MODE !! to switch to Text-in-formula- Mode and
write the text. I usually put some protected blanks after the text before the
equation begins.

Perhaps this is already well known:
In LyX 1.0.3pre4 the preamble window behaves strangely if you enlarge it
and you have so much text in it so the scroll bars are present.
If you enlarge the window horizontally, the scroll bar on the right-hand
side goes really freaky.
If you enlarge it
ou can have a look at what LyX is telling
you. Then start a ps-output and tell us what is printed to the terminal.
