I use lyx 1.0.4 on Suse 6.1.
When I try to insert an EPS Picture in a picture
float lyx seems to have no problems.
But when I start the Postscript-Viewer (gv)
the document ist cut off right after the EPS-Picture

to configure LyX so that it will be recognized?

I've installed SUSE 6.4 on my PC and it comes with
lyx 1.1.4fix1.
I tried to import a latex-document (from Excel with
Excel2Latex) but in the Import-menue the Latex-Option is not
available.

these fonts didn't exist. Other fonts look messed up, as well.
It seems like this is just a matter of font configuration in the X-server,

I am using LyX through a VNC display. Everything works fine, except that
fonts in LyX display in a very low resolution. Trying to modify the font
settings (fixed or scalable, screen DPI) in lyxrc did not change a thing.
I have made sure that VNC can access all fonts in my X
uld much prefer a newsgroup to the list.
Every once in a while somebody comes up with the newsgroup idea.
Please do not start it again.
A mailing list is much more direct and comfortable.
I do not want a newsgroup.
I am quite content with this mailing list.

take a look at the font setup in RedHat-8.0 with UTF-8,
Xft2/Fontconfig. In at most a year the handling and rendering of fonts
in Linux is going to be just as easy and good as in WinXP and MacosX
(at least when using either KDE or Gnome).
The problem that is going to remain is the availability of free
quality TT fonts.

I got Lyx on my WinXP pro (I don't think it's worth installing Linux just for this
prog).
At the beginning everything was just fine. Sometimes Lyx (or better Cygwin)
disappeared without a warning, but that was only mildly annoying. But the day before

i have scripts that produce latex tables. i would like to insert
these into lyx documents. i've figured out how to do that, but
what i can't seem to figure out is how to cross reference these
tables in the lyx document. the trick in the user manual only seems
to work bewteen multiple lyx
i just recently switched to 1.2.1 from 1.0.9(i think) and noticed that
the new version doesn't seem to recognize eps figures as viable graphics
files. the browse options for insert-graphics gives only gif|jpg|gif|jpg|gz
as options and all of my figures(eps) display the message error converting
i'm using the slides style in lyx 1.2.3 and would like them
to come out in landscape. when i select Layout-Document-Paper-
Landscape it cuts off most of the slide and prints it upside down.
is there a better way todo this?
