If you've got that voltage AC coming out of the stator and a good battery, you just need to pin down where you're losing voltage between the two. I read you bought Caltric. I've been told to avoid Caltric products at all costs. Did you test your R/R? It's a big diode. It should have roughly the

Ok. Just got home and ran bike again. Stator results: with voltmeter set on ac, black lead to ground and red to each yellow wire individually I got about 6.5 v.ac from each at idle (about1500rpm). Put voltmeter on dc to check voltage at battery got 12.5 v.dc at 5k rpm. These were done with

Hi Darin You replaced the stator...from where, was it from Honda or an off brand? I have an 83 650 and at 2500 rpm the system will show 14.5 volts, anything from 14v to 15v is good. I know when my stator was slowly burning out the voltage was dropping. Any of these tests on the system should

Not much help now but for anyone in the future. When my gf lost her bike key I took the gas tank off (3 bolts) and took it to a locksmith. Same key for ignition as the tank lock and I believe there was a number under the cap that the locksmith used to find the blank key. -- You received this

I will test again this afternoon and post results. I have checked and didn't seem to be putting out much. Seems like I'm not getting enough voltage to field coil . Black wire from ignition to reg/rectifier was losing about 1 volt between battery and reg/rectifier. Will post more after work. Thank

I usually think in the direction stator -> battery, not the other way around. The current starts at the stator and travels to the battery for storage. I am currently waiting for a new R/R I ordered (a MOSFET R/R), and when it arrives, I plan to do what is known as a "hotwire mod." This means

Interesting. I don't personally know what a field coil is, but on the PC and Goldwing (at least, maybe others) you just start the bike, turn the VOM to AC, and read the output off the 3 wires. I believe each should be around 6 volts AC. This then goes to the R/R, which changes it to DC and
