I found the closest thing to a test chart I had in
one of my drawers. An ImageExpert Primer Target.
It was printed on the Epson Photo 750 I had for a

the camera in a small backpack that does not interfere with your arm

I used to use both but now prefer -R because they are far
more compatible for DVD-Video players. When I buy them they are often
sold out while the +R discs linger on the shelves. I think
theres more chance of +R popularity waning in the long term due to this

don't use an olive bag. The oil makes the camera slippery. Black bags are
groovier, have more PJ cred, and mellow much better. The only possible
reason for having an olive bag is if you are going to cross the Sahara by
camel, otherwise stick with black. You know it makes sense.
Domke bags
I got an F-803 for Rolling Red last year. Just like mine (which is ~6
years old), but black. Besides not looking as nice because it is brand
new (I like how they look when they are old and weathered) the quality
seems the same, it is very strong, and will age beautifully.

That was me mentioning how well M42 lenses work on DSLR's. And the film
*ist should be no different for that.
Cost savings. The M42 lenses just need metering, the K/M lenses need
hardware that the M42 and KA and later lenses don't require.
I'm up to two M42 lenses, and looking at more. I
I wouldn't want to brush a cats teeth. Too many possibilities for
damage, (to me).

Hi everyone. In the past 9 days, few things have gone right for me. My '68
Mustang was rear-ended and pretty badly damaged (estimate I got was

I still use them, and the majority of my lenses are either K or M42 (I
currently have 2 AF lenses, one of which is a DA, 2 K/M's and 2 M42's).

There is no green button on the *ist. That means non-A lenses have
metering only for the widest aperture. I simply discovered the ease
of using screw mount lenses with this camera. I'm fairly happy at
this point.

This experiment was to see how it would do as a short
portrait lens.
I am now able to get the desired depth of field and proper

I'm thinking a Carl Zeiss Jena 20/2.8 MC Flektogon is the way to go for
now. $200-ish on eBay. And Super-Tak 85/1.9's are not too much more. but
I can be a real snob about glass in some cases (I'm a little hesitant to
buy russian glass, poor QC).
