16-bit RGB Scanning and Editing?

I've finally figured how to get full 16-bit per color RGB scans (12-bit actually) saved into TIF files from PhotoShop 5.0 LE using my S20 Scanner and TWAIN32. There is a reg change for the S20, and a mode adjust check in PhotoShop to make it work. Now I'm getting a 50MB TIF files per image! So
