I wonder how many users of digital equipment carry a white card to do white balancing? Just like how many digital slr users carry a light meter around with them all the time so they can get more accurate metering that their dslr doesn't seemingly give them. Lots of extra stuff to carry. Jim A.

I don't think so. All the Swedish shops list three alternatives; body only, Body+lens, and body+lens+grip. I think it's more that Pentax is trying to show the public the fact that they actually have a lens to match the requirement for a wider angle zoom. Jostein -

I don't bother to carry a white card (yet), but was never really happy with the Auto-White-Balance and tended to select a warmer preset. I was getting fed up continually switching though, and this weekend have tried using the manual white balance set from: A white T-shirt A white painted door A

I was wondering, why not just remove that part of the lens instead of all the masking? If it was built like the Pentax, that piece of metal (or plastic for Pentax) was held by 3 tiny screws on the side. It doesn't affect any optics at all. I've done it both ways, Alan, but I've used masking

Working distance and background control. A 200mm puts you farther away than a 100, and often lets you be more selective in background. But the 200 is heavier and may require a heavier tripod. It is also bigger. Well, a 200mm puts you farther away than a 100, but it also (for the same

But why would you want to handhold such a big heavy lens? At least use a monopod. Why buy such an expensive lens and then not maximize it's capabilities by handholding it? Sure, if you have to hand hold it a few times that's one thing, but I would never buy such a lens with hand holding in

The istD grip doesn't have any batteries integral. It takes 4 AAs just like the body. These last the same as the ones in the body. If you have both (first Pentax grip where you can keep the batts in the body?) then it uses them in parrallel. Number of shots depends on the batts used.
