I wonder if @mherger can add boomx2's sdt repository to the 3rd party

I'll be switching over to Boomx2's version as soon as I get some time.
I have no intention of updating the WU version to support there new API,
especially as it's limited the those operating a PWS.

Go back up to Screensavers, and you should be able to use that selected

phred-
As for the various icons, they are still posted on sourceforge at
"http://sourceforge.net/projects/superdatetimewu/files/CC_Icons/; but
there may be an issue with how SourceForge lets you access them - it
seems to always now invoke a download manager which may break the way
these icons are grabbed by CustomClock.

As for the LastFM - does your CustomClock screen description have a
section which is like:

{
"posx": "5",
"order": "0",
"visibilitygroup": "CoverArt",
"songinfomodule": "lastfmartistimages",
"width": "150",
"visibilityorder": "2",
"posy": "55",
"visibilitytime": "20",
"interval": "10",
"itemtype": "songinfoicon",
"height": "150"
},

That's the piece which is trying to access lastFM.

Squeezed_Rotel-
The problem you describe is unrelated to the "warning" on the XML file.
The XML file is used by the plugin manager to find the SuperDateTime_wu
plugin. The warning is simply because the XML viewer is expecting to
see other information related to a typical XML file, but doesn't apply
to this.

As for SuperDateTime in general, it makes sense to transition to
BoomX2's Weather.com version as weatherunderground is no longer
supporting the API. My copy is still working, but they were supposed to
have stopped the API altogether a few weeks ago.

CustomClock is a separate thing. If you're having trouble with getting
screens to work there, supply more details, and maybe we can help get is
sorted. Remember that erland is no longer actively supporting these,
and he "unlocked" the license manager, so your issue may be related to
that?

Assuming BoomX2 updated the screen, look in LMS Settings under the
PLAYER tab, select SuperDateTime. (Remember, SDT has settings at both
the Server (plugin) level, and also for individual players). The Player
settings screen shows most (all?) of the variables it uses.

I'm pretty sure the program defaults to Chicago weather. It probably
means there is something incorrect in your settings and it is falling
back to the default location.
You should probably look at the server log. You can increase the
logging level for SDT (set to debug), let it run for ~15 minutes, and
then check the log to see if that provides helpful information.

If you have SDT running on your server (no reason to believe it can't),
then you should be able to get the display you want on the Classic.
Did you try the settings shown on the post you referenced?
As a reminder, SDT has TWO settings screens - one for "general" settings
of SDT, and a separate "per player" setting where you can configure the
display for that particular player (for you Classic, for example).

Hopefully BoomX2 can chime in - he created a custom clock screen for

I tried it this morning, and am not getting any scores - setup SDT to
show all NBA and NFL. If I get some time, I'll try to play with it some

If you are using the repository
(http://superdatetimewu.sourceforge.net/repo.xml), you should now be
able to update the CustomClock Jivelite applet. It should be equivalent

First off, the repo:
http://superdatetimewu.sourceforge.net/CC_JL_repo.xml is for a version
of CustomClock modified to work with JiveLite. I believe you probably
are still installing the originalversion of CustomClock (since the repo
identifies the version in my repo to be targetted to JiveLite).

It sounds like CustomClock must actually be running in your Squeezeplay
- you indicate actually being able to view some of the CC screensavers.
The list in the CCH plugin lists all of the screens available, but most
are specific to a particular model/screen size. What's the screen
resolution on the Joggler?

As for the Screensaver settings - what do you see if you navigate to
Settings/Screen/Screensavers ? Is there a "Custom Clock Settings"
there?

I suspect you might have to build a CustomClock screensaver to display
the Sports scores on this display resolution. If you can find a custom
clock screen which displays the sports information (built, say, for the
Touch), you should be able to use that as a starting point for one
customized for this screen size.

I incorporated the last couple rounds of BoomX2's fixes into the
wunderground.com version of SDT.
The repository has been updated (you can add the repository to your

If you prefer to update the plugin manually, the new file is located
at:

You might try waiting a few minutes before clicking on "Click here to
restart the server" dialog - it may not have completed downloading the
updated plugin file before you restart. If that still doesn't work, you
can turn-on additional logging within LMS to try to see what's going
wrong.

You might be able to find the "customclockhelper.prefs" file. On my
system (debian) it is located at:
/var/lib/squeezeboxserver/prefs/plugin
If you find it, you might be able to simply use it to replace the
current one on your new system. Otherwise, you should be able to use it
to help you recreate or fix your clock style - it's a text file with the
information for all your installed CC styles.
Hope that helps!

It's an applet. I checked my Jivelite - it's installed at:
/home/tc/.jivelite/userpath/applets
There's a directory there called "CustomClock" with all the .lua files
installed below that.

Do you find Applet Installer under Settings/Advanced (in jivelite)? If
so, do you see any applets available?
To install CustomClock from there, you need to put the repository link
into the LMS settings/plugins additional repositories
http://superdatetimewu.sourceforge.net/CC_JL_repo.xml

This points to the modified CustomClock applet which will run on the
piCorePlayer jivelite.

Repository points to:
http://superdatetimewu.sourceforge.net/CustomClock_JL_1.01.002.zip

The easiest way to install is using the additional repositories.
Not sure why it wouldn't work for you. Make sure you enter repository
address correctly - sometimes the forum displays a truncated version.
I don't have any experience with LMS on a RPi, but should run fine.

No, you don't need the CustomClock app for SDT - only if you want to use
a custom screensaver to show the information.

Your other devices can "see" the SDT running on your RPi? (I assume you
are now running LMS on the RPi...) Have you checked the LMS server log?
You might want to increase the logging level for the SDT plugin to
"info" or "debug".

Howard-
Assuming you are interested in the wunderground.com version of SDT
(requires getting an API key from wunderground.com), you can add the
repository for the plugin to the LMS settings/plugins tab:
http://superdatetimewu.sourceforge.net/repo.xml

On a RPi, (assuming the 7 inch display?) and JiveLite, once you install
SDT, you should have a menu under "extras" for SuperDateTime.

If you want a "screensaver" (for example, when OFF), you need to use
Custom Clock. I modified a version of the CustomClock applet to work
with JiveLite and the 7inch official RPi touchscreen. To get it, put
the following repo link into your LMS/SETTINGS/PLUGINS additional
repositories list:
http://superdatetimewu.sourceforge.net/CC_JL_repo.xml

>From the RPi Jivelite display, you need to navigate to
"settings/advance/Applet Installer" where you should be able to install
CustomClock.

CustomClock, and the "helper" plugin require license from Erland (you
may already have?). You will also need the "License Manager" applet on
your Jivelite on the RPi, and the License Manager plugin on LMS.
The CustomClockHelper plugin is an LMS plugin which allows you to
import/export/modify CustomClock screens.

I built a SDT weather custom clock screen for the RPi 7 inch display in
jivelite - see the thread at:
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?105083-Custom-Clock-for-Jivelite-with-800x480-Screen

Hope that helps!

Looks like you are indeed running the latest versions.
Could it be that you had modified the screensaver in the
CustomClockHelper, and therefore it didn't pick up the changes to the
default version? I looked at the "Now Playing Alternative - touch" in
CCH, and the elapsedimage settings point to
"http://erland.github.io/squeezebox-customclock/images/NowPlayingAlternative/progress.png;
(in both the "url.playingslidingx" and "url.stoppedslidingx" fields.
You might try exporting the current screensaver settings in the
CustomClockHelper (in case you want to go back), and then try "Restore
to online version or delete if only available locally" from the CCH
page.

That's not something from SuperDateTime, that comes from CustomClock.

This is an old repo location - Sourceforge changed some things, and this
stopped working reliably.

Try adding the following repo location into the Settings/Plugin:
http://superdatetimewu.sourceforge.net/repo.xml

Yes, SDT supports both future forecasts day-by-day, up to 10 days (in
the syntax, the period is d1, d2, etc), and the near-term forecasts,
with syntax period = -1 (current conditions), period =0, period = 1 and
period =2 provide the next 3 "near term" forecasts, with the periods
based on the current time of day.
Suggest you look at some of the CustomClock screens posted previously
for examples.

Below is comment in the SDT plugin which tries to explain how these
near-term periods are determined throughout the day:

# NEW: Determine NearForType based on when current weather
observation:
#
# If ObsTime between midnight and (sunrise-1hour) then:
# NearForType = 0 (-1) "CURRENT" uses most recent
previous day
forecast (type "LOW")
# (0) "THIS
MORNING" uses most recent previous day forecast (type
"LOW")
# (1) "TODAY"
uses current day forecast (type "HIGH")
# (2) "TONIGHT"
uses current day forecast (type "LOW")
#
# If ObsTime between (sunrise-1hour) and (sunset-1hour) then:
# NearForType = 1 (-1) "CURRENT" uses current day
forecast (type
"HIGH")
# (0) "TODAY"
uses current day forecast (type "HIGH")
# (1) "TONIGHT"
uses current day forecast (type "LOW")
# (2) "TOMORROW"
uses next day forecast (type "HIGH")
#
# If ObsTime between (sunset-1hour) and midnight:
# NearForType = 2 (-1) "CURRENT" uses current day
forecast (type
"LOW")
# (0) "TONIGHT"
uses current day forecast (type "LOW")
# (1) "TOMORROW"
uses next day forecast (type "HIGH")
# (2) "TOMORROW
NIGHT" uses next day forecast (type "LOW")

Have you considered a server to run LMS which doesn't shut down?
Raspberry Pi solutions exist which are low cost and low power. Plus you
can use LMS any time without having to wait for your PC to boot up.

You will need to get an API key from wunderground.com. Sign up as a

The easiest is to add the repository to the "additional repositories"
list on the Settings/plugin screen:
http://superdatetimewu.sourceforge.net/repo.xml
and select "Apply"
You should then be able to see the plugin in the plugins list, and you
can install from there.

Be aware the wunderground.com version of SDT doesn't support the weather
maps. That would take additional calls to the server, and would make it
hard not to exceed the allowed number of calls per day.

The "order" is the order of items layered on the screen - yes, I used it
for a slight drop-shadow on the time - the top text is in WHITE, the
shadow text is LIGHTGRAY.

I don't believe HEX values work. Erland's CustomClock recognizes
standard colors, with some variations. I think there are RED, YELLOW,
BLUE, GREEN, GRAY, WHITE, BLACK and "LIGHT" combinations (LIGHTGRAY).
Probably requires getting clarification from Erland (or looking through
his code).

Per yesterday's post, here is a screenshot of my SDT Player settings
screen for my SB3.
Ignore the bottom settings for (display 2) - they are for Transporter
(which has two screens).

There are player-specific settings to configure your SB3, Boom or
Transporter displays (go to settings, player tab, and there should be a
pull-down to select the SDT settings for that player).
I may be able to post screen-shot later of my SB3 configuration screen -
the settings are not too intuitive (and I've never fully figured out how
to use them - I never changed that section of SDT in my update, short of
adding additional display strings which can be used to determine which
information you want to display).
The "size" button on your SB3 remote also changes the look of the
display (the size of the font used) - I think I always use the middle
size.

Make sure you correctly enter the API key in the settings, and also that
you select the way you are specifying the weather station (there's a
pull-down). You can select by PWS ID, US zip code, or airport code.

Here are two settings files for use with SuperDateTime + CustomClock +
CustomClockHelper. They can be imported into CustomClockHelper to
provide CustomClock screens which then use the data from SuperDateTime.
There is a Touch and a Radio screen - these are the weather screens I
use. They use Fahrenheit, and 12 hour clock + AM/PM, but these settings
can be adjusted using CustomClockHelper and the appropriate code
strings.

Hope that helps.

in the device settings. For touch, radio you need to use Custom Clock.

wunderground.com does indeed have an API, but I suspect this particular
plugin doesn't use the API. The reason I say this is that I created a
version of SuperDateTime a few years ago which does use the
wunderground.com API and 1) you need an API "key" to use it (with
limited accesses per day) and 2) I haven't seen or heard any recent
issues with the wunderground.com version of SuperDateTime (my instance
is working properly).

There are now TWO variations of this plugin.
I modified the plugin to utilize the wunderground.com API. This was
intended to improve the reliability of the plugin. I have a repo for
this version at: http://superdatetimewu.sourceforge.net/repo.xml
Since there are two versions of this plugin now, this repo needs to be
added manually. Also, since this version of the plugin uses the
wunderground.com API, to use it you need to get a key - you can get for
free by signing up as a "developer".

The second version of the plugin has been maintained by BoomX2 - he
posts periodic updates to the plugin within this thread.

This should be a viable approach. I don't use this screensaver, so
don't know how it's laid out, but I use weather+time oriented
screensavers on my Touch and Radio (never built anything for the
Controller) using my version of SuperDateTime (which uses the
wunderground.com API) and Erland's CustomClock screensaver. The Radio
screen I use only show's current weather icon, but on the right cycles
through future forecasts in text. (image attached, although my current
version of this screen is probably slightly different than this image).
I've also created a Touch version which has current conditions on left
side, and cycles through future information, with icons (plus Moon) on
the right (don't have an image to upload currently). These could, at
least, provide starting point if someone wants to customize further.
Erlands CustomClock requires a small fee (after trial period, if he's
still managing it that way), but it's very flexible and supports
SuperDateTime information. PLUS the SuperDateTime provides native
support to SB3/Classic, Boom and Transporter.

Your issue is different. First, you are using SuperDateTime. Looks like
you initially had a networking issue. I suspect your latest issue may be
due to your specified weather station having dropped off for some
reason. Try specifying a different weather station.

That's part of the plugin I've never touched. I think there may be date
and time options which are used that are outside of the plugin. There
are also font sizes available on the player itself using the original
remote. You can also turn off the icons. My SB3 is set to show time
without the date.

There are player specific settings for SDT in addition to the general
settings. I'm not at my machine right now, but try the settings for
player, there should be a pull down where you can find SuperDateTime.
Check the settings for the player which displays the way you like, and
use that as example for the others.

I am interested in taking those off your hands. I am in US, so Priority

Questions-
Where are you located (to get idea of shipping)?
Do you have the remotes with them?

Thanks!

I have incorporated BoomX2's latest fix for College Football into the
weather underground version of SDT.
If you have the repo selected
(http://superdatetimewu.sourceforge.net/repo.xml), it should be
available from the Plugins tab.
If you prefer to install manually, the file is located at:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/superdatetimewu/files/SuperDateTime_5_10_26.zip

So that's one if the wunderground.com versions. I'll try to post update
to that version soon (hopefully tonight).

Try using a different weather station?
To see what wunderground.com is reporting for your selected weather
station, set logging for SDT to info or debug, then find the url call in
the LMS log, copy and paste into Web browser to see what it returns.

I've incorporated BoomX2's fixes into the "wunderground.com" version of
SDT. If you point to the repository, you should see an update
available.
If you install manually, the latest .zip is:

This sounds strange. The best help would be to look at the LMS server
log file. I would suggest setting the logging level for SDT to "debug"
- go to the LMS Server Settings, Advanced tab, select "Logging". Find "
(plugin.superdatetime) - SuperDateTime Screensaver" and set to "Debug".
Select the "Save logging settings for use at next application restart",
and hit the "Apply" button. Set your Data Refresh Interval on SDT back
to 10 (or 5 should be OK, that's what I use).
Restart LMS, and let run for 15 minutes or so. Save the LMS server log
(LMS Settings, Information tab, next to "Logitech Media Server Log File"
click on "everything" to save the log file. I'll try to PM you with my
email address, and send me the log file.
I've not seen this before - I wonder if you did something strange when
you installed - did you install using the repository, and the built-in
installer from LMS, or did you install manually? Are you sure the
weather.com version is not still running? (Maybe one was installed
manually at a different location then the auto-installer) - if there are
two instances running, they may be causing funny behaviour.

Not sure, but the error indicates something with the "WeatherMap". I
don't think either of the current variations of SuperDateTime get the
weather map information, although the original code is mostly there.
Check your SDT settings page, and make sure you de-select anything which
would try to get the weather map information.

I checked the link for that missing logo - I did indeed point it to
wunderground.com
(http://icons.wxug.com/logos/PNG/wundergroundLogo_4c.png). I see the
logo ok from my own settings screen (in Chrome browser), as well as from
the URL. I wouldn't worry about not seeing the logo, but it's a little
strange it's not showing correctly for you.

Should be just the WU logo as you said. Don't recall if that page
points to a locally-stored logo image, or links to something on
wunderground.com. I can look at it this weekend.
The T's for using the weather underground API specifies using their
logo... this was the only practical place I could put it ;-)

Check your LMS log file (go to the LMS webpage, go to Settings, then
Information tab, then check the Logitech Media Server Log File. Look
for a line with "getWunderground" in it. In that line, there should be
a URL request (e.g.,
http://api.wunderground.com/api/x/conditions/forecast10day/astronomy/almanac/hourly/lang:EN/q/pws:.json)
Copy the URL (from http:// through .json) and paste into the address
field of a regular web browser, and see what you get as a result.
Likely, you are using a bad weather station, didn't correctly put in the
API key (you did get a key from wunderground.com?), or didn't specify
the correct format of the weather station (you can re-check your
settings in the "advanced/superdatetime screensaver" in LMS).
If it's not obvious, let me know what you see.
You might need to increase the level of logging for SuperDateTime - that
can be done in "advanced/logging" and change the value for
plugin.superdatetime to "info" or "debug" and select "apply".

There is a bit of a hack which may allow the images to work, but it
would be tedious. You could manually replace the "bad" image files on
the Radio with the correct image files using WinSCP. You would have to
manually download the needed image files, and name them exactly as they
appear in the Radio's directory, and then do a replace.

OK I moved a copy of the image files to a new location:
http://superdatetimewu.sourceforge.net/CC_Images/
BUT, I see the same issue you are describing - the files still don't
seem to get correctly downloaded by the CustomClock applet, instead, I
find the files contain the text: "404 Not Found"

Sorry - don't know how to help more at this time.

Maybe erland has some ideas?

I checked my Radio - the cached images are stored at:
/usr/share/jive/applets/CustomClock/images

If you delete the "bad" image files in this location, CustomClock will
then need to retry downloading them from the source.

When you copied the image files to your server's SuperDateTime
directory, what did you do? The weather icons are stored there, but
they are linked differently.

I may have a better location on SourceForge to store these image files.
I changed the way I store my SuperDateTime repository since I had
problems with the way SourceForge was using redirects, which was causing
problems with the ability of LMS to download the plugin. When I moved
to a different location (out of the "files" directory) things seemed to
work much better (although I lost the ability to see statistics on
downloads of the plugin). I can try to make a copy of the images into
this other location, and if successful, I'll send you the directory
link.

If you have the urls pointing correctly to your own hosted files, that
should work. CustomClock does cache these images on the local player. If
the image files didn't download correctly, you may be able to manually
delete the bad cached versions using ssh. I don't recall where they are

The repository should work, but it's not standard - you need to manually
add the repository on the plugin screen.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SuperDateTime - Current Date/Temperature and/or Baseball Screensaver

2016-07-29 Thread tcutting

I have released an update to the Weather Underground version of
SuperDateTime.
I have modified the moonrise and moonset queries - they now use
information provided from wunderground.com rather than separate query to
aa.usno.navy.mil which wasn't working for all users. wunderground.com
did not have the moon rise and set times in their API, but apparently it
has been added.
I also incorportated BoomX2's latest updates to the version he maintains
(Thanks BoomX2!!!). Since I don't use the sports score features in SDT,
I haven't tested those changes.
If you point to my repository
(http://superdatetimewu.sourceforge.net/repo.xml) you should see the
update notification in LMS.
If you do manual installs, the .zip file is located at:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/superdatetimewu/files/SuperDateTime_5_10_24.zip/download

# 5.10.24 7/28/16 Change to use wunderground.com for moonrise and
moonset information. Previously using
# special calls to
aa.usno.navy.mil.
# Also incorporated latest mods
from BoomX2:
# Modified getCFB to
automatically calculate season and week of
season for use in URL.
# Modified getNBA to
automatically calculate season used in the
URL.
# Fixed bug where getMLB- would
occassionly be displayed instead
of the MLB team icon.

All
I am testing moonrise/moonset change right now. It turns out
wunderground.com now has today's moonset and moonrise information in
their API. Hope to be able to release update this weekend.

Some users have had issues being able to reach aa.usno.navy.mil - that's
the US Navy site which I use to get moon rise and set times. I never
figured out why this is - maybe location based? (What country are you
in?). I was able to get a meaningful result from the URL in your log.
What that means, in addition to the errors, is you won't have valid moon
set or moon rise times to display.

First, CustomClock has become much more than a way to display a clock.
It basically allows you to build custom screens which can then be used
as "screensaver" for various functions. I've created custom "now
playing" screens when the built-in screen just didn't work that well for
the application - I built a "PlayWithCoverandClock" screensaver for the
Radio which I use as my now-playing screen, because I wanted a larger
clock display... BUT, If I'd wanted, I could have built it with NO clock
showing at all. It allows you to build a screen view with graphics
(static, cover art), tag information, playing status, wireless strength
indicator, and even a clock if you want it.

CustomClock is NOT used for navigating (that is, if you are navigating
through menus on your touch). Once you select something to play, you
typically get a "Now Playing" screen. You can actually select the "Now
Playing" screen, and also a screen saver used "when playing" - these
could be different...

Suggest you try CustomClock - It's a "paid" applet, but I believe Erland
offers a free trial period. There are existing screens you can try to
get an idea of what it does, and these can be a good starting point for
creating your own custom screen. (You also need the CustomClockHelper
plugin on LMS to create and/or modify CustomClock screens).

Enclosed is .txt version of my current "OffClockSaver" for Radio. It
has the updated links to the icons I am using.
NOTE: these icons are posted on the "files" area of a SourceForge
project... they may no longer download correctly in use... You can
manually download the files and post them elsewhere if need be. I've
found another way to post files on SourceForge which seems to work
better, but I haven't updated the settings.

Hope this helps at least see how to use the battery icons in CC, and the
images work.

I use the "OffClockSaver" on my radio, so I know the functions work.
HOWEVER, the site where I was hosting the icon images has gone away.
I've probably updated my local version of OffClockSaver to point to
"moved" icons. For many, this change didn't cause a problem, because
CustomClock "caches" the images locally.
I'll try to get a chance to post my updated OffClockSaver for Radio,
with the updated links for the images.

Battery and Wi-Fi symbols are supported in CC on Radio. Check the
OffIcial saver for an example.

Why did you discount CustomClock? You cab create a custom Now Playing

You probably need to import the styles into the CCH on your new LMS
instance - there aren't any (yet) in Erland's "official" set of screens.

Something sounds strange here... It may be that the previous version of
SDT wasn't completely removed, because you should have the updated
plugin settings window which would allow you to configure the API key
and other settings. If the older plugin was installed manually, it may
still exist in a different sub-directory under LMS. I believe under LMS
settings, the advanced tab shows a list of possible locations for
plugins.

This version requires an API key from wunderground.com. You can get it
for free if you request a developer key. You will also need to enter the
key in the plugin's settings page, and check the other settings as it's
slightly different than the Weather.com version you had before.
