Dave,
What you're doing sounds interesting and possibly useful (to myself/others),
but it also sounds a bit dangerous. Could you explain a bit? Do you have
the same footprint name in 2 different libs representing different physical
layouts?
I say dangerous because I've had P99SE change the libs
we do this all the time (DIP+SO)
the junctions are actually a good reminder about what is going on

Hi Steve:
One way to acheive this is to place two schematic parts one over the other.
That way all the connectivity will be the same for both, and there will be
two pcb parts registered in the database. It will look ugly, though, because
all the pins will have junctions at the ends.

This option causes DRC errors - or at least it does in my implementation. I
sometimes require an SO-14/SO-16W footprint, to allow alternative op-amps,

I do have a need to make seperate dbs for particular groups of lib files.
I will use one db for production board layout while another is set for
breadboard layout (ie. 100mil center pads for vector boards). This is
convienent since the same schematic can be used without any changes to do
both
Steve,
If you would like two footprints at two different locations on the pwb,
you should show the device twice on the schematic with a note as to why.
If you want one footprint that can except two different devices you can
do that with a special footprint (named ssop14-ssop16??). The second

The usual thing to do is to create assemblies (or sub-assemblies)
for each stuffing option. Draw a dotted box around the parts with a note
that states the option. On the first page of the schematic create a box
with each of the assemblies and what to stuff (or not to stuff) for each
one.

Hello all,
I was wondering if its possible to highlight sections of a schematic for a
specific build of a product that's configurable. Our application would be
to either highlight resistors that should be inserted or chips that should
be inserted for that specific build.

Steve,
I don't know if what you want can be done. The pcb identifies each footprint
as a unique component. You might be able to trick the netlist if you call
both footprints U1 for instance, but each time you load the netlist it will
try to disconnect all the pins of one "U1" and reconnect the oth
Brendon,
Dennis and Brendon MANY THANKS! I used the spreadsheet method, and even
found the update. File works great, I can move the designators now.
Many Thanks for the help!

I thought that this option was just a way of assigning different footprints
that may be used, to a library symbol, so that you could quickly select a
footprint (within the Schematic Editor) without having to type it.
What I want to do is have two footprints on the same PCB assigned to a
single sym
If you edit your library part, click on "DESCRIPTION"
in the document manager panel and you will be able to
have four different footprints tied to each part.

Is there a way to associate two separate PCB footprints to one Schematic
component, provided that all the pins match.
I know how to do it manually within the PCB editor, but I'd like to still be
able to synchronize the PCB with the schematic.
Thanks for any help.

Thanks for the information Darryl. The Microsoft document states that the
primary adapter must be in PCI slot 0 or 1. The problem is that I'd prefer
to get an AGP adapter, and the integrated video is also AGP, so I need to
know if it's possible to run two AGP adapters at the same time. I suspect

W2K docs claim to support up to 10 cards/displays, so it should work. They

The old SBLive drivers sometimes cause the pregnant pauses for no reason. This
little glitch was mentioned in the past on this forum. It's odd, but changing the
SBLive drivers has slightly improved the panning in Protel.
