Here's one to ponder:
I have a schematic that uses an array of SPST switches and LEDs.
On the PCB, I want to potentially keeps these as integrated parts, or
possibly as separate LEDs and switches.
How can I draw one schematic and still have the flexibility to use either
physical configuration?
Hello,
I use DRAFT mode in the PCB editor (protel 99SE) for TRACKS and VIAS and
PADS. When I use interactive routing with Push Obstacle mode, and it
pushes too far, the track or via or pad turns green. Thats fine. But when
I move away and it turns back to color, it is redrawn in FINAL mode
Does anyone else still think exporting a BOM spreadsheet is broken? I
exported one a few minutes ago, and opened it with Excel and it's still
blank. KB item 2185 says it's been fixed in SP6, but I have SP6 and it's not
fixed. It then goes to say there is a workaround, but is the workaround for
Tony,
You could keep the schematic symbols separate and add alternate packages
that would have convenient origins to allow correct placement to mimic a
single package on the pwb. The schematic should make it clear that D1 is
related to SW1. If the single package is used you can blank the diode
Didn't you send this same email a couple weeks ago? How about (as a
workaround) pressing the END key to redraw your screen?

Working at JPL on Sunday huh!?? A buddy of mine used to work there years

Thanks for the tip. I think I'll give it a shot. PP isn't a problem, these
have to be had inserted and soldered anyway!

The fix apparently was that you can do a Save -- you don't have to do a Save
As or Save Copy As. BUT you still MUST do the Save before exporting. You'd
think they would have fixed that at the same time.

If anyone else has to maintain this, I think it'd be very confusing to have
2 footprints that together match 1 part. If you do take this approach, at
least group the footprints so they can't readily be moved separately.
As far as making the schematic ugly with an integrated part, you could make
John,
You should also point out that if you are going to use alternate footprints,
that if update footprints is needed to be used during synchronization to
update
a bunch of updated or changed footprints in a board that the system will
remove
any of these alternate footprints and put the first

Mr. Harm has already responded, but I'll make some comments. When a

Harry, your comments mirror my own suspicions. Right down to the guard dog

One would expect it to do so.

I use the synchronizer (from sch to PCB) all the time with update component
footprints checked, and it never puts back the first footprint on the
list. It respects whatever footprint is specified in each schematic
symbol.
