e appropriate
solder mask layer and set the hole size to 0mil and expand the X and Y
dimensions by 2 or 4 mils to provide for solder mask expansion requirements.
This is manual but an quick and easy fix.

I am bit behind in response here, but nontheless I should let others know
that I tested this on my machine and found that it did not crash.

Could someone advise me on how to review email archives from the DXP forum.
I am interested in the discussion that has already transpired, but I just
signed onto the forum today.
Thanks,
Daniel

It is unfortunate, but seems to be the consistent testimony of many Protel
users that the new DXP software is not improving the ability of pcb designs
to do their work bett

Can anyone recommend an alternative to Alberta Printed Circuits in western
Canada
s and also your pcb's and "live" with the DRC error.
I think that you will find that this is what you will have to do with
virtually any "RF" parts such as these miters in transmission lines or
certain types of inductors that would constitute a short at "DC".
Has anyone developed footprints for microstrip sections ? I have been trying
to do this with pads set to certain length and widths. Mitered corners are
particularly challenging to make as a library footprint. I have used two
pads placed side by side at a 45 degree angle with the desired measureme
. The software should become increasingly easier and faster, with
added functionality, not more difficult to learn and master, and slower.
do you know for a fact that the basics have all changed as you say here?
do you have DXP?

Regarding this discussion, I too will add my voice to those who feel
upgrading to DXP and ATS is not a worthy investment at this point. I would
have been much happier if the software had remained much the same as 99SE,
but with greater functionality. Instead of building a whole new interface,
it w
be a very
valuable tool to our company !

update sch command will work. Try it first on a backup copy of your
schematic, before trying it on your one and only schematic, just in case
something goes wrong. It would take a lot of pain staking work to correct
the document once the designators have been messed up.

I appreciate your history and arguements. I am sympathetic with your
struggles. You are the prime example of why I believe Altium is
overstretching it's customers. Only Two years ago we were able to purchase
Protel 99SE for substantially less than 8K and with full support (no

love to see the Protel product improve and continue to use it myself, but I
fear that I, along with many others, may be forced to look elsewhere for EDA
software, due to the corporate greed monster that has swallowed up our
beloved Protel.

If you check in your Protel backup directory on your harddisk, you will
likely find a backup of the library where your BGA footprint existed. Rename
the backup file to a .LIB name and open in Protel to see if your old
footprint is there.

In response to your question below, you might try the following: Hightlight
everything (E-S-A hotkeys), then do a move selection and move the entire pcb
artwork up the 3 inches or so you would like. This should allow the text in
question to become visible and then you can delete it.
