Hi, all -
this is going to be trivial, I'm afraid, but I really can't find the answer
anywhere...
I've got a PCB, and have selected a bunch of components, which I'd like to be
able to also select on the schematic, so I can do some global changes. I seem
to remember it was possible to pass t

This "Capturing the Low end market" scheme is what made AutoCAD the defacto
standard in the mechanical drafting industry The other successful
approach is to supply the software to the education industry like apple
computer did (and Mentor is doing) to get established

Vincent,
At the moment I have it only in paper form - it's the whole chapter
in old OrCAD SDT Reference Guide - "Creating a library source file
with a text editor".
I'll try to find an electronic version of it.
i just checked
P98 does not write ver orcad DSN files
only orcad .sch files

I think you can only do it in the SCH -> PCB direction.

so far i have a program that can sucessfully read the protel schematic
libraries , browse them and display them on the screen. i'm still
tinkering with polygons as orcad doesn't know those.
still to be done arcs and rounded rectangles.
basically all pins , labels , lines and rectangles show up

Hi Brian,
It might be one of those things where ignorance is halting interest. I
don't have any knowledge of IPL (hence the ignorance aspect) so I don't
know what I'm missing. If Peder would enlighten this group as to the
benefit of IPL, we might say: "WOW, that's great, yeah Brian, do it!!"

Ah - that explains it. Shame - it's a feature that would be handy from time to
time.

Bill,
Very well said.
Yes the software has to work well or at least
work well in th emost important areas, and
at least be easy to use. "Build it and they WILL come".
Too often they forget or not want to sow those seeds.

Vincent,
You'll have to tell us where you put it. If you can't stick it
somewhere, email it directly to me and I can pop it on my website. It
would be KILLER if you got the translation TO Orcad in place. Protel
should buy it from you if it works.
