Bill, when you say The process never completes. how long are you waiting??

In the past, when this type of thing happened to me, it was because SM
was trying to compact the inbox at the same time as SM was trying to
d/l mail into the inbox. Eventually I would get an box with the option
to stop the compaction until SM had d/l'ed the mail.

Has even a bug been filed on the Linux version of the issue? I notice
that you said it was an old Debian box, so maybe NSS is trying to
use a newer API that's not supported on whichever old version of
Debian that you're using, similar to the Windows issue where they're
using an API that was introduced with IE4.

I don't know for your questions. How would I check for NSS version?
Also, I cannot figure how to reproduce this error. It happened once. I
fixed the problem by exiting SM and relaunching it.

Also, this should had been posted in mozilla.support.seamonkey newsgroup

My understanding, Smiles, is that SM 2.0 beta 2 will only copy over one
of your profiles to where SM2.0Betax wants it to be.

If you have several SM 1.x.x profiles, they will basically left alone,
except for the one that is copied. How SM2.0Betax chooses which of your
profiles to copy, I don't knowmaybe it just copies the last profile

Why would you want to check it? We know the NSS version, SeaMonkey
1.1.18 comes with NSS 3.12.3.1, that's the whole purpose of doing a
1.1.18 at all, as the NSS 3.11.x used by SM 1.1.17 and lower allows SSL
connections to be intercepted by third parties (so.called MITM attacks).

Also, I cannot figure how to reproduce this error. It happened once. I

Thanks Robert. We need to figure out how to reproduce it.

There might be clues from last night's incident. Before I went to
https://webmail.earthlink.net/, I was trying to vote on
http://ve3d.com/, but it gave me an error about not being able to write
(cache related?). I didn't write the error down because I thought it was
unrelated to SSL. I went to Webmail and it gave me that SSL error. I
tried to repeat that, but failed. :(

Thunderbird 3.0b4 testing

2009-09-14 Thread Ludovic Hirlimann
Users of Thunderbird and related products (Calendar, Seamonkey ...)

We are on the verge of having builds that will become Thunderbird 3.0b4.
Before we can release it to a wider audience we need these builds to be
tested by some users. As usual we are going to use litmus. This time to
make sure that we get as much coverage as possible I would like people
to sign up for the effort. This means giving this week one hour of your
time to test builds of thunderbird 3.0b4. The idea is that I will tell
you what areas you'll need to test. You'll get a very focused test area,
and only need to spend an hour. Thunderbird gets better coverage and
ends up being of higher quality because it's more widely tested.

*If you want to participate in this effort please send me a email asap
with your OS of choice for testing and and whether you are a POP, IMAP,
or RSS user.

*If you want to feel free, and not have someone telling you what to test
- please still join our testing effort :-) I will make another
announcement here when the builds are ready and the tests can be run.

*For those who wish to opt-in the effort I'll send an individual email
with instructions.
In the meanwhile, if you don't have an account on litmus.mozilla.org,
consider creating one.If you don't have an account on
bugzilla.mozilla.org, please create one so you can report bugs there.

Do you have the Switch to new tabs opened from links option
UNchecked as shown above?

Yes.

So, when you right-click and Open Link in New Tab - do you get the
link opened in foreground?

Additionally, if you have checked (as previously shown):

_Open tabs instead of windows for_
[x] Middle-click, Ctrl+click or Ctrl+Enter on links in a Web page
[x] Ctrl+Enter in the Location bar

Do you get links opened in foreground tabs when you Ctrl+click them?

All these options works as prescribed here, and I'm not really sure what
you might be missing.

It does open behind when I right-click just not when I open a
hypertext link.

A bit annoying but I can understand why.

What I'd like to see firstly, since obviously FIREFOX and THUNDERBIRD
will eventually be phased out, is to have an [x] close box for each tab.

It does. But if you are using a debian packaged version, you'll want to
check the version on your system to ensure that it is updated as well.

http://www.ubuntu.com/usn/USN-810-2
http://www.ubuntu.com/usn/USN-810-3

Other distros should have similar security updates.

Ant, to check your version use 'apt-cache policy packagename'. Sample
