IE caches them by default. Can be disabled under

You would need to empty the whole cache in all browsers I know.
I wouldn't recommend caching SSL-sites without having a good reason to

Same here.

Somebody else trying the page might be tricky since one needs to have

This site is probably used by more than just my credit union.

Actually, no. Much of it is custom built for our credit union.

The first page displayed by this app for me works and displays URL
https://www.dcu.org/onlineserv/HB/HomeBanking.cgi

If I choose the bill Payer button, which displays URL
https://www.dcu.org/onlineserv/HB/SingleSignon.cgi?tpvRef=TPV_CFBPAUTO_LOAD=TRUEprimaryButton=BILL_PAYER
, I do not get the bill player page, but something else.

Billpayer is actually run from another server, so it probably is not
going to support newer browers.

If I open the link in a new tab or window, it displays the correct
page and is functional (so I can do my banking that way). That page
displays URL

It's happened several times with me, which is normal for previous versions. It
seems to be a timing thing. If the news server doesn't respond quickly, this
is where I see more of these hang ups, and eventually have to cancel the

Re: SM2.0 RC1 Automatic Updates?

2009-10-13 Thread Gerry Hickman

Thanks. I don't know how it happened, but somehow it updated itself from
SM2.0 beta to SM2.0 RC1. I'd been working in another program, I noticed
the little Seamonkey pop-up in the bottom right of the screen saying an
update was available, but I don't remember clicking on any confirmation
dialog... When I went to use SM the next day there was a progress bar,
then it made me confirm SM is the default client, then it was suddenly
on 2.0 RC1!

From your answers, I'm guessing fully automatic update is impossible
with SM, so maybe I'd pressed a key which dismissed a confirmation dialog.

I'm on Vista SP2, but it's so much the o/s version. I think it all
depends on your version of the IE browser. If you have version 7 or 8,
you will probably notice the problem. After downloading a file,
right-click the file, if you are affected, you'll see an unblock button.

Probably, though that site relying on what at least looks like
third-party cookies seems bad, it's completely their issue if they do so.

However, just out of curiosity, I uninstalled Seamonkey 2 RC1 from the
virgin test system and installed Seamonkey 1.1.18 and found that the
banking web site works properly with either setting of allow cookies...!

Not sure, but we had a number of changes to the cookie subsystem,
possibly also ones that make it more correct or whatever influences this.

Also, why does this setting make a difference between clicking a link to
open in the same window vs. opening in a separate tab or window (which
worked in SM 2 RC1 all along)?

No idea, you probably need to ask the website designers.

I wonder if that was part of the 1.1.x cookies issue that Jens pointed
out in the Disappointed in changes to cookie management SM 1.1.18 vs.
2.0RC1 thread? https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=349680#c13
where it was determined that the cookie settings weren't quite working
as advertised.

Ah. So it's the OS. I don't use IE except when absolutely need for

I guess this problem (?) is now a non-issue since I will soon be
loading up SM 2.0

Think I will wait maybe a week or so to be sure all the Bugs are
removed.

I have the same problem hanging pop-up when the mail has been
sent.

Why are you convinced that this bug is solved in SM 2.0 ?

It hasn't been, through the 2.0 RC1 that I downloaded. I've been
wondering

if I changed the settings NOT to save a copy for Sent messages, would
that problem go away. I guess if this doesn't get fixed in the 2.0 final
version I'll get around to testing it. ;) bj

I saw this window (just once) in RC1 also.

Bob

It's happened several times with me, which is normal for previous
versions. It
seems to be a timing thing. If the news server doesn't respond quickly,
this

is where I see more of these hang ups, and eventually have to cancel the
window. Sometimes the message is sent, sometimes not, I suppose depending
on how soon I canceled out.

It's puzzling... maybe SM should disconnect sooner? Is there a setting for
attempts to connect?
bj

You have a good approach ... it's certainly a timing window problem.
This kind of problem is not easy to cure, because it's not easy to
reproduce. And will never corrected in SM due to the politic way of
managing bugs ... :-) We can close this thread :-)

Seamonkey v2 RC - How to disable email feature?

2009-10-13 Thread Russell

I really like the Seamonkey browser and have used it for years. In previous SM
releases I could do a custom install and not install the email feature as I
prefer to use another email client.

With Seamonkey v2 RC's custom install there's no option to omit the email
component and now every time I click on an email link in SM it's asking me to
setup my Seamonkey email service.

How can I get rid of this and have my email open in the application I prefer?
I'm using XP, but assume this issue exists with Vista as well.

Thanks
