two .slt folders
I'm still running Mozilla and want to change to SeaMonkey. I notice in my profile that I have two .slt folders. One has only a folder called Trash and a folder called Trash.cache. The other has many, many items including bookmarks etc. Should I have two .slt folders and will that give me trouble when I install SeaMonkey? Mozilla 1.8.1.11 suite Henry I have no idea what 1.8.1.11 is. Mozilla Suite never went that high. It was either Mozilla 1.7.13 which was the last official release or 1.8ba which never made it to release. So, I'm presuming you have the old Mozilla Suite. If so, then close Mozilla, and click on the windows start button, then run and enter: mozilla.exe -p this will start the Mozilla Profile Manager. How many profiles do you see? If one, then go ahead and delete the .slt folder with the trash.cache in it. I'm presuming that is when you deleted the cache, this is the directory that it created. Otherwise, go ahead and install SM. It will pick up your last Mozilla Suite profile and start using that. When I run mozilla.exe -p in the run box, all I get is my Mozilla home page. I get nothing about profile manager. If so, that will launch the Profile Manager as well. I found that. When I open it I get a box that's labeled "Available Profiles" and in that box all that's listed is "default". It doesn't say anything about .slt folders. So my question is, since I have two .slt folders in my profile, which one is correct? I'm using WinXP Pro on a Dell 2.7GHz machine with 2G RAM. I'm using Mozilla 1.8.1.11 with agent switcher to make it look like Firefox 2.0.0.11 I have Adobe Flash Player version 10.0.22.87 and Adobe Shockwave Player version 11.5.0.596 running. Until two days ago the following URL worked like a charm: http://www.google.com/finance?client=ob&q=INDEXDJX:DJI Now the page comes up but without the graph that was always there before. I am running WinXP Pro on a Dell 2.8 GHz machine with 2G memory. I am running Mozilla ver. 1.8.1.11 and want to upgrade to SeaMonkey 1.1.17. I'm confused about whether I have to un-install Mozilla first or if I can install SeaMonkey and will be OK if I don't open both programs at the same time. I'd like to be sure SeaMonkey has picked up my profile before I un-install Mozilla. You can then uninstall Mozilla at any time, the profiles won't be touched by that. Making new profile for SeaMonkey
I'm now confused about making a new profile for SeaMonkey from my Mozilla profile. I read the "How do I import my profile info from the Mozilla Application Suite or Netscape7?" section and am still confused. My Mozilla profile is now in C;\Documents and settings\Henry\application\Data\Mozilla\Profiles|Default User. I get to the part in the Create Profile Wizard that wants me to Enter a new profile name: I'm stuck right there and I don't know what the next question will be and I'll be stuck again. Will some one please walk me through the next steps? Do I just some how put SeaMonkey in or put SeaMonkey in the above string where Mozilla is now? I haven't installed SeaMonkey yet. In the password manager (Tools->Password Manager->Manage Stored Passwords), for some of my accounts, I have to enter a "user name" and a "password", but unless I select the "Show Passwords" button, they just show as blank entries, just like yours. Will that upgrade or do I have to go through a Seamonkey 1.x first? The reason I didn't consider 2.0.6 is that usually when new versions come out they are buggy and it takes awhile for the bugs to get worked out. Thanks, but I want to "un-default" Mozilla. I'm going back to IE8. I've been monitoring this Seamonkey group for a while and there seem to be nothing but problems. I don't want to loose my email addresses and bookmarks during an upgrade. So if there is a way to tell Mozilla it's not the default, I would appreciate knowing it. If you don't want to click on a link in a message in Mozilla 1.78 Mail and the site to be opened on the Mozilla 1.78 browser, I think you are out of luck. While I remember some talk about an obscure setting to make Seamonkey open links in mail on an external browser, this old version might not support it. Anyway, Mozilla 1.7.8 is quite an old product, I believe about six years old, give or take. There have been numerous improvements since then, both in features and security. You really should consider moving to a newer product. It's time for Seamonkey to just do security and stability releases like IE8 does instead of having to update new versions all the time. It's confusing and scary. Sorry to post here but I can't get post to Mozilla NG. I'm running Mozilla 1.8.1.11 and agent switcher 0.6.10 set to Firefox 2.0.0.11 on WinXP Pro. When I go to Comcast home page, I can log in OK, but when I click on email it goes to Smartzone, but Smartzone doesn't load, it just sits and looks a me. Everything works with IE6. Any one else having this problem. Comcast doesn't support Mozilla as we all know, so the guy there said "too bad" use IE. Attachments with Mozilla
I'm running Mozilla 1.8.1.11 on a Win XP Pro machine. Until yesterday when I got an email with an attachment, the attachment paper clip would show and I could open the attachment. Starting yesterday, when I got an email with an attachment, the attachment paper clip would show but the box would be blank. No attachment was there. What did I do to cause the attachment not to show please? I know my Mozilla is old, but I'm happy with it, and truthfully afraid to change because I'm one of those people that when I change something everything goes to pot. For instance, on some sites, you will have a page just for your user name first, then on the next page will be your password. So, in SM, that will be 2 entries. If you want then do this: make a backup copy of the .s and key3.db files. The .s is the password file, and the key3.db give you access to the file. Once that is done, then visit those sites, and see what happens. If nothing, then go ahead and delete them. You won't cause a problem, cause you can always replace the password file. As for the "program" that I attached: its not a program, but a piece of html javascript. I found the key3.db file but what/where is the .s file please? Thanks for hanging in there with me. The Password Manager examples I gave before were the name of the site and the user ID as seen, all on a single line. The passwords were on the same line but I just deleted the passwords. I'm running a Dell 3GHz processor with 2G RAM with WinXP Pro SP3. I'm still running Mozilla ver 1.7.8 and I would like to upgrade to SeaMonkey. When I look at my Mozilla profile however, I am reluctant to upgrade and I would like advice from some knowledgeable people. I have put two Images on http://profile.imageshack.us/user/wa0goz/ to try and show my concerns. They are both of my profile. Click on the images twice to enlarge for clarity. 1. Notice I have two .slt files. Which one is correct and will having two give me problems when I upgrade? 2. My *present* ISP is *Comcast*. If you look at the mail.comcast.net folder you will see that the files are empty. 3. My past ISP was tcq.net. If you look at pop.tcq.net you will notice that the files have my email in them. I don't know how this can be, because I haven't been with tcq.net for years. I can't imagine them allowing my email to go through them. My concern is what will happen if I try to upgrade and import my profile into the new SeaMonkey? I hope along with the images I am making sense. If you drill down to the contents of the two folders, one will have files dated today and one will have only older files. That should tell you which is current. 2. My *present* ISP is *Comcast*. Depending on how your filters are set up, messages can be in any folder, even the "wrong" account. Doesn't mean they went through tcq's mail server. For example, you may have moved a folder from one account to another (within the same profile), and if you did, SeaMonkey would have automatically updated any applicable filters to point to the new location. My concern is what will happen if I try to upgrade and import my profile into the new SeaMonkey? If you have several accounts but only one profile, you should be fine. If it sees more than one profile, it will ask you to choose (by human-readable name, not the alphabet soup used to name the .slt file) and ignore the other one. You didn't look at the profiles I posted. My real ISP, Comcast, has email files dated 7/14/2007, while my old ISP, tcq.net, has email dated with files dated Dec. 2010 and Jan. 2011. The one .slt folder has a cache folder with files dated Jan. 2011 while the .slt folder has files dated 2006 to 2011. Will moving to SeaMonkey fix the errors that are in my profile and which profile will it pick up? Each .slt folder represents one profile. AFAIK it's up to you which one is used on import (the upgrade leaves your v.1 profile(s) intact, but imports a copy of one profile, conforming it to v.2 specs, and placing it in a separate folder -- this is called "migration"). But notice that *both* of the .slt folders are under Default, so when I upgrade both of the .slt folders will go with the Default import. I only have one profile called Default. On the left side under Category, select [Privacy & Security > Passwords]. On the Passwords pane, select the "Manage Stored Passwords" button, entering your master password if requested. Unfortunately, you can view the user IDs and passwords for only one domain at a time. For each domain (even for only one), you must again enter your master password if you want to see the actual passwords and not merely the user IDs. I'm running WinXP Pro SP3 with all updates. I'm still running Mozilla ver 1.78 :-( If I install the latest version of Seamonkey, will it pick up the profile from my obsolete Mozilla? You must import the HTML file from Mozilla's profile folder. How do I do that please? Henry Henry, there was a change in file format in the move from SM 1.x to SM 2.x. So, to be safe, you might have to install SM 1.1.19 (this should pick up your Mozilla profile), then install SM 2.0 and the 2.1 to make sure the file conversion occurs, and then you should be able to install SM 2.17 ( the latest version). Problem send email from SeaMonkey 2 (test version)
Hello I have an problem witch i been aware of to day. When i try to send email i´m only get an error messages say Could not get password for "server" (its my SMTP server i have try different). I´m using SeaMonkey Build identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv: 1.9.1b3pre) Gecko/20081202 SeaMonkey/2.0a2 I have try every adjustment in the mail but nothing working My primary SMTP server is gmail.com but i have try both yahoo and lavabit but whit same error. I have any problem to receive email from any of my accounts.
