I have one vendor that wants to use Teams. My entire industry is almost

Oh wow! Just land there and SM locks up!

I'm finding a lot where the spacing and fonts just look different.
Pretty much any page made in Squarespace does not render correct in SM.

Here is one I came across yesterday that is interesting. The text is all
scrambled and on top of each other in SM but fine in FF.

https://www.audiotester.de/

The last month or so it seems to be getting to over half my browsing
experience. I too don't like the UI in FF but I think I may be running
out of options. Switching browsers or discovering that the thing I was
fighting works in the other browser is a huge time suck.

Re: is Facebook mostly broken now on seamonkey?

2020-11-09 Thread Hawker
I get it Geko 60 is over 2 year outdated, but it blows me away that a 2
year old browsers engine is pretty much unusable in today's fast moving
world. One would think high use websites would be less dependent on new
changes. Sounds like SM is not going to ever catch up I guess. I'm
about to over half my web experience works on FF but not SM these days.
This reminds me of the Netscape 4.x days when I hung onto Netscape (was
it 4.8?) Way longer than I should have.

I think if I could figure out the side bar and how to easier do
selective cookie blocking and on blocking on FF I would move. The anti
tracking stuff and mostly improved privacy controls there are really
nice. A few plug ins I use here are not available there though so that
is an issue. I'll miss Image Zoom for the biggest loss and I prefer
Seamonkeys way to handle inline search.

With SM you download the program here

Then install it. If you have a skype account then enter it and all will
work fine. If you do not already have a skype account, then yes you are
SOL as you must create a MS account to use skype but SM is fine. An old

Gave up. Sh*t site. Probably needs event features or new image formats

Also SM 2.53 crashes or locks up multiple times a day for me, 2.49
crashed maybe once every other week for me.

2.53 almost never crashes for me. The one crash I have now and then on
shutdown is because of a work in prograss patch not in the tree. Without
a crash id I just say you have hardware or other problems. You can prove
me wrong by providing a crash id.

All these sites work in fine 2.49 but have serious issues in 2.53

If they crash you have a different problem.

Cool if you want to blame the site rather than Seamonkey when these
sites work on every other browser I tried. But since the other
browsers work I ain't buying it.

Me neither. I know that SM is missing features and has problems. But I
also know that 2.53 is better than 2.49 and that is what I said. Reddit
is fixed in 2.53.3. Without a crash id nothing can be fixed or verified.
And yes I blame sites like the onion because they are bloatad sh*t. And
if you suppot these sites it is your choice and you might need a
different browser. As you said. We can't keep up with a 100 people
effitively working against you and turning out half baked specs and
features just to support the latest Chrome.

What I am sick of is general reports liks yours. Nothing works; Always
crashes; Writing is on the wall; blablabla.
This can not be fixed. There is the error log which should show
javascript and other errors. There is the crash reporter. And there is
bugzilla where problems can be reported at a last resort but need clear
instructions to reproduce including urls not "I am running SeaMonkey for
a day and then nothing works; it crashes daily without a reason; memory
goes up by magic or whatever.

FRG

Frank. I don't even know where to start with a messed up response like
yours. I don't use it, or I don't like that site is not a valid reason
to dismiss a problem. All the sites I listed have serious functionality
issues in 2.53 that they do not in 2.49. Many of the issues are buried
beyond the home screen and unless you are a user it is lost to even try
to explain.

Your response to much of this reminds me of what activists call victim
blaming. IE if you didn't wear that sexy outfit you wouldn't have gotten
raped so it's your fault. If you didn't use that site that I don't like
that works in every other browser you tried you wouldn't have problems
so it's your fault, just don't use those sites.

The bottom line is users are experiencing problems that we are not with
other sites. We are, mostly not programmers, the things you ask for are
beyond our time and/or technical ability. When I look at Bugzilla I am
lost as it isn't readable or usable to a non programmer. Java console?
Same thing. I'm an EE not a programmer.

Look I get it. Y'all are over worked, under staffed, under funded. You
are working with both hands tied behind your back and it is a losing
battle for an obscure bowers that most people have never heard of. Kudos
to you. I appreciate you keeping the abandoned Mozilla sweat going all
these years but it clearly is getting to the end of it's acceptance and
usability due to a lack of greater public interst. Reminds me of when I
had to finally abandon my beloved Netscape 4.8. I feel for you. I don't
want to dump on you or blame you for the problems. But the fact is that
SM is many many revisions of the engine behind and there are more and
more sites everyday that are breaking due to this. I started with
Netscape 1.0 (yes I go back that far). I like SM, I want to continue
with SM but at the point where I have to maintain two or three different
browsers just to do do.

Yes it sucks that Sites have to "turning out half baked specs and
features just to support the latest Chrome." but that is the state and
reality of the internet today and people need to use those "half baked
and bad coded sites". We don't often have the option to just ignore a
site as you seem to. If Digikey (another site I use daily that has some
functional issues around refreshes in 2.53 that were not in 2.49) has
issues it cost me and my clients time and money. I can't deal with
that. I don't have the luxury to say "crappy site&quo

For starters: 2.49.4. Try with 2.53.2.

Oops. Forgot to show the link:

Can you try it with 2.49.4 and 2.53.2? I'm concerned it might be a problem with
SM
setup and not the version.

There are 115 HTML errors and 75 CSS errors in that Web page. I believe
your problem is with the Web page and not with SeaMonkey.

The phone number for Home Depot's Web site feedback is 1-800-435-4654.

These kinds of answers are really unhelpful and, personally, tick me off.

There may be tons of "errors" but fact of the matter is that Firefox,
Opera and Chrome manage to parse it correctly and work anyway. And since
Firefox and SM are both Gecko it really points to SM's issue. So at that
point you really can't blame the website, it is Seamonkey's inability to
deal with being able to properly parse what is thrown at it while others
do it no problem.

So nope, not buying it. This is a Seamonkey issue not a website issue.

I think HD is seriously broken in FM 2.49 and 2.5x.
As of now I can't open videos, pictures or see product preview images
in search.
The last of that broke about 2 weeks ago and the site started breaking
about 3 months ago.  It all works in FireFox bot not SM. I gave up
trying to figure out what it was.

That is my fear - that upgrading won't fix it. I feel like a trend is
developing, as every week or two or three, another site fails to work on
SM, but is fine with Chrome. This time it's the Home Depot videos, last
time it was a site that displayed for a second then went blank (but was
fine in Chrome), and before that a site where the buttons were
invisible, but displayed in Chrome. My wife uses Chrome for Facebook,
because SM makes it jump around or become sluggish.

I've been using SM since Netscape went away - 20+ years - but it seems
like it's getting creaky and tired. The email still seems good, though.

Yep, I upgraded to the latest SM. No change. It works fine in FireFox
but not Seamonkey. It's frustrating for sure. I'm in a similar boat.
Old Netscape user since 2.0, Mozilla Suite then SeaMonkey was the way to
go. But it is probably time to move on. I constantly have to move to
FireFox for websites that work there but not Seamonkey. I would move but
SM has some features and controls I really like that FF does not, or I
have not figured out in FF.

I migrated my E-mail to Thunderbird a long time ago. I prefer the SM
interface but it lacked updates and features I needed that TB had (like
the fast search indexing) and SM didn't handle my massive data base well
without frequent crashes and corruption that I am not having in TB.

The handwriting is on the wall, but I'm still fighting it.

Does the Acrobat DC plug in no longer work in SM 2.53? Other broken helper apps

2020-05-25 Thread Hawker

Since updating to SM 2.53 I'm having "helper app" issues.
The most annoying is that PDFs no longer open in the browser. Going to
the helper app, I set it to open in SM or always ask but it stays on
always ask. I seem to remember reading this this version was going to
break a bunch of legacy plug ins. Could this be that?

Also for JPGs I have it set to Always Ask but it is opening in SM every
time no matter what helper apps is set to. What gives? I tried setting
it to save and it won't change.

Thank you for the clear explanation.
Honestly I moved mail to Thunderbird maybe 3-4 years ago. I kept having
corrupted inbox issues if the box got too large and lack of
Thunderbird's advanced search pushed me over. I preferred the feel of SM
but had to do it and mail/news was just to feature laging.

I keep trying Firefox but the lost features (esp how it handles cookie
exemptions, lack of side bar, harder to use UI, and other issues) there
are greater than any benefit right now so I'll keep my trusty Seamonkey
now. Although some of FireFoxes new built in privacy features for FB

camels back for me.

My chrome loving wife has been using my Seamonkey the last few days

I always ended up added custom filters to ABP. I seldom need to tweak
uBlock and memory usage did go down alot.

Good to know. Hopefully I find the same.

Something you might want to try

When I was running AdBlock Plus, I had also done quite a bit of tuning,
but I when I moved to uBlock Origin, I didn't need to do an unreasonable
amount of work.  uBlock can pretty much subscribe to the same lists that
ABP does.  Yes, it does take a little bit of time getting to uBlock's
different UI, and it is a little more effort to dig into individual
blocking rules.  However, with uBlock, I find that I spend less time
tinkering with the rules than I did with ABP, and ultimately, that's
time I can spend doing what I want to do.

What you might want to do is to create a new profile and install uBlock
in that -- add all the subscriptions you want (and for that matter, any
other extensions you consider to be essential), and see what things look
like.  You might find that you get enough blocking immediately, without
having to spend much more time, at least not initially. It's likely that
a lot of the fine-tuning that you want is probably better done as tweaks
that are done in the context of of the moment.

If initial setups of uBlock do enough for you in the second profile,
then that will tell you if you can replace ABP in your primary profile
without an unreasonable amount of work.

Smith

thanx. That is great advise.
I was wondering, rather than a different profile, if I could just have
both installed and disable in the add on manager the one i am not using.
this way I can disable ABP, try uBlock and if I don't like it or it
needs more work to make me happy just revert back to disable uBlock and
ABP. This way I get to try it in my real profile, which is probably more
real world anyway.

At least a year or two away with the current resources.

We are currently fixing and backporting bugs left and right. In parallel

repos. The gods owning them might not be amused then.

All fixes for SeaMonkey go into the later branches too but 2.57 is not

Yesterdays 2.53.1 had a bug with mail delete. Next one will fix it.

If you try it please backup your profile. You will not be able to go
back to 2.49.5. Will be upgraded (compatible with the upcoming official).

If you use a master paxsword remove it before upgrading and reapply later.

Thank you for this great and thorough reply and all the info you gave
below as well. This was exactly the clear concise information I was
looking for.

Also thank you very much for your work on the project against all the
odds and lack of help. Some of us are still really hooked on SM.

Speaking for me I see the handwriting on the wall and assume with x.57
being the end of the line (and a late release) I will need to move on at
some point. I have tried to move to other browsers but I don't like any
of them. FF has a few deal breakers in how it handles privacy that make
it not usable for me and others lack features I depend on.
It reminds me of how long I clinged to Netscape 4.8 until MozSuite
caught up.

If Email is the big issue with the new releases that is a non issue for
me. Alas I had to move my e-mail to TB a couple years ago when it became
apparent SM would not get TBs search capabilities and the SM mail client
was getting crazy sluggish and having trouble handling my huge e-mail
base that TB didn't seem to have issues with. I kept having to split
directories to smaller chunks so it was usable and not sluggish, a
problem TB didn't have. I don't care for TB as much as SM but I had to
much e-mail to have those issues on my work files.

what is realistic for the next release?

2019-10-29 Thread Hawker
I'm sticking with 2.49.5 right now. I don't really want to move to the
newer builds until they are more official I don't think.

That said there is an increasing number of websites that no longer work
in SM with any UI string that work in FireFox. I wonder how many of
them will be fixed in a newer SM but not sure how much longer I can wait.

So what is realistic? Will we have a 2.5x.y build some time in the next
6 months or what is realistic?

And if I do want to try something built on a newer engine what version
of SM is the safest yet sufficiently newer for Windowz 7? And where
should I get it from?

When I mouse over the image, the cursor changes to a hand, as if it
were a link, but right-clicking does not offer the usual link options
(open in new tab, etc.). Instead, I get image options (view image, etc.).

Javascript is enabled in the browser.

The site developers have wrapped the content in swathes of JavaScript to
minimise the chance of correct operation across browsers. Presumably the
same motivation explains the duplicate element IDs and unbalanced
double-quotes in the source. Forgivingly, SeaMonkey manages to render
this garbage.

Clicking a product image fails because jQuery receives a null event, a
big success for the developers.

However right-click>View Image works fine, the developers having
surprisingly forgotten to try to disable the right-click menu. To see
the thumbnail images in full size, change the final part of the image
URL "...-jpg" to "...-64_1000.jpg".

I have severe doubts that actually buying anything will work, though,
but presumably once you've identified your desired product you'll use
eBay or Amazon to buy it, another big win for the Home Depot guys.

Hmm. that is all well and good but the fact of the matter is that it
works fine in FireFox so why not SM?

It does work to click and order, I have done so quite a bit. They simply

Re: "All humors aside… ;("

2019-02-20 Thread Hawker

So could someone explain to us non app programmers a bit here?

What I gather from this is there is some mammoth back end automatic
build system that takes the code base and spits out the various flavors
(does this mean both language and OS builds?) of the releasable code.
The system has needed to change over the years for various reasons and
maintaining this system takes a huge effort that just isn't manageable
with the small team and this is holding up releases both in terms of
actually building the code base but also putting resources into
maintaining this system that could be put into the actual code base
improvements.

So far do I have this correct?

What I don't get is, as I understanding it nightly builds are still
happening and people are "hand" compiling various code bases into
"pseudo" released code.
So my question is are the devs making this too hard on themselves? If
maintaining some sort of automated build environment is unmanageable yet
people are able to compile the code and get it to people in a way that
works then might, this time, a more brute force approach where the code
is hand compiled make more sense until/unless there are more volunteers?

As a long time Seamonkey user it is hard to not see the handwriting on
the wall. More and more websites are not working correctly (even with
spoofing) and it is painfully slow. If FF didn't suck so much when i
keep trying (or other browsers didn't have show stopping issues for me)
it I would be long gone, but the number of websites that no longer work
or work well is becoming a huge issue and may force my hands if SM can't
get up to semi parity in website rendering with other browsers.

So in the end the question is, can the limited SM team do anything to
change to be more efficient given the limited resources they have and
are they being hindered by trying to do it the way that Mozilla
foundation does it when for this small project there are better ways?

Sigh. Handwriting on the wall. Like many SM users I go back to Netscape
2.x. SM feels like home. It is comfortable, works for me and has most of
the features I want. FF has become a frustrating mess lacking many
features I use in SM.

Alas it seems obvious the end is near. SM is already having lots of
compatibility issues and renders way slow compared to other browsers.
Time for me to find the transition browser. After 23 years here that
isn't emotionally or physically easy. No idea where to go. FF doesn't
feel right and also seems slow, Chrome - I don't trust it. What
branches, if any can I trust with my privacy? Opera? Is it a similar
dying anomaly or even any good? There really isn't anything else stable,
private (and no cloud), feature rich and fast is there? It is sad that
so many people are willing to give up privacy for Google Chrome. I feel
old and outdated. Get off my lawn.

We can talk about all the theoretical ways to revive SM but the reality
is it has a very small and shrinking user base, is mostly unknown, and
does not have an adequate support staff to carry it forward. Without a
better user base it will be hard to carry forward, and without an
adequate engineering team it will be hard to improve the user base.
Chicken and Egg and neither wins.

I don't see many breakages which are real. Most can be fixed with
setting the user agent. With most web sites still supporting IE 8 only a
few really break. Most are google ones and they do it in for Fx too.

Maybe 6 months to a year. Firefox has problems of its own and becomes a
permanent construction camp so anything after 2.57 is off for now. Do
what you must but I would switch probably to Chromium then. The Fx ui
degrades with every release now so you can just use the original which
imho already looks cleaner than Fx.

Locally compiled 2.53 and 2.49.5 both work a champ for me so I don't
have any need to switch now. Newer web features will probably become a
problem in a year or two but seriously I don't want things like service
workers and wasm anyway. I really doubt this will do security any good.

In about:config, you can create per-domain/site custom user agents.
Create a string named general.useragent.override.{domain} and set its
value to the string you want.  For instance, if you want example.com to
think your user agent is "Bogus/1.0 Fake/20180307" you'd create:

general.useragent.override.example.com = "Bogus/1.0 Fake/20180307"

Give it a shot and see if it helps.  It won't do anything for your

Change User Agent for one domain only

2018-03-07 Thread Hawker

Could use some advise on User Agent switching.

I am currently using User Agent Switcher.
I find using it, and updating the UAs in it anything less than intuitive.

current FireFox UA as much of Google does not work properly with
Seamonkey's UA but works fine when I switch it. I can't see how to lock

The other thing that would be nice is to easily toggle between two
different user agents. The one for SM and the FireFox one for the same
Geko revision as easily as I do with AutoPlay.

Is there a way to do either of these? Am I just an idiot on using User
Agent Switcher?

Your permissions.sqlite file seems to be corrupt. It now holds the
permissions for logins too since 2.48 so this would explain why you are
unable to autologon. But any problems should already have surfaced in 2.48.

I would make a backup of the profile and just remove this one file and
see if it works.
You will loose all site specific settings for cookies, image and other
permissions but they can usually be recreated.

The other errors are normal/common during startup. Ok, they should not
happen but will eventually be fixed and are harmless for now.

If removing the file does not work you can start into safe mode with
Help -> Restart with Add-Ons Disabled.

Re: Password Manager Quick Question - SM 2.49.1 W10 Pro

2017-11-14 Thread Hawker

David - are others having this issue as well?
Sounds like for the OP and myself (I am on Win7 not Win10) The built in
password manager broke on the 2.49 update.
I can go to the password manager and they are all still there, but the
auto complete is broken.

Does the OP also find the passwords are still in the manage stored
passwords interface just not auto completing?

On 11/11/2017 12:38 PM, Paul B. Gallagher wrote:

logins with both security and integrity, I must then trust SeaMonkey
to store my passwords.

Doesn't really address the OP's question. He's concerned by several
posts we've seen here about SM forgetting passwords after recent
upgrades. I, too, would be greatly inconvenienced if SM forgot all those
nuisance logins that I entrust to it.

As much as I trust SeaMonkey, I still use a lengthy pass-phrase (not
merely a password) as my master password. I also periodically
change the individual passwords for the Web sites of my financial
accounts and certain other critical Web sites.

As a policy, I don't save logins and passwords for financial
institutions in SM or anywhere else my computer. However, in a separate
file with a nonobvious name and location, I do save fragments or clues
to those logins and passwords along with a slew of other unrelated data.

So for a simple example (this isn't a real case), for one of my banks I
may save the fragment "Yankees," which reminds me to add the fragment
"rule!!" when I enter it in the website. For another example (again, not
a real case), I may save "hIOdnV7QT9A_aJvHnZ2dnUU7" (I grabbed this just
now from your message id) and remember that the login is "hIOdnV7QT9A"
(the first part) and the password is "_aJvHnZ2dnUU7" (the second part).
Nothing in the file mentions the institutions or their websites, so it's
not obvious to anyone else which parts of the mass of data go with what.
And since what is there is incomplete (the rest being saved in wetware),
cracking it won't help without the other part.

There are many ways of saving useful reminders (not complete logins or
passwords) without assuming unreasonable risks.

Re: 2.49.1 no longer auto completes user name or password

2017-11-14 Thread Hawker

hmm.
I wonder what else might need to be changed?
That fix didn't help me. Autocomplete of passwords is not working on any
site I log into, Facebook, Google, AirB, my bank, other social
networks, shopping places, etc. It is a PITA for sure.

Might have something to do with my clearing cookies on close?

It all worked fine in 2.48

1) Download and install MozzBack up. Back up with it first so you can go

Tabs load different if Tab has focus vs background

2017-09-15 Thread Hawker
For a while I have noticed that many pages, if opened in a new tap, load
differently if the tab is open/viewed/has focus than if the tab is
loaded in the background. For those pages if I hit reload once the tab
has focus the page loads correctly.

The most annoying version of this is on FaceCrack. If I open
notifications on a new tab from a large thread and go to that tab then
the thread opens to the point of notification. If it loads in the
background it loads to the top of the thread only and not the
notification point. Hitting refresh fixes it so it loads where it should.

Do others experience this? Is there a way to get it to fully load
without having to refresh the page?

NOTE WELL: The use of extensions to obtain capabilities will end with

SM locks up from FB and other sites

I'm starting to get a lot of SM lock ups.
The biggest offender is when I am on Face Book. SM locks up then
eventually says

> A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding.
You can stop the script now, open the script in the debugger, or let the
script continue.

Only clicking stop brings me back to functioning SM.

The debugger doesn't help me much as I don't know what I am looking at.

How do I debug this? What could be the cause?

I am seeing so many recent issues I wonder if I need to start over with
a blank profile. I just hate to loose years of tweaks to get SM the way
I like it.

1. Set your home page to either about:blank or someother local
(non-Internet) page.

2. Check all cookies to make sure that you have only the ones you want.
Delete all the others.

3. Change your permissions to allow all cookies and to accept cookies
normally.

4. Visit ONLY those Web sites from which you want cookies saved.

5. Terminate all instances of SeaMonkey.

6. Re-launch SeaMonkey. DO NOT VISIT ANY WEB SITE.

7. Repeat step #2.

8. On the menu bar, select [Help > Troubleshooting Information]. Under
"Application Basics ", select the "Show Button" to the right of "Profile
Folder".

9. Terminate all instances of SeaMonkey.

10. In the profile folder launched in step #8, find the file named
cookies.sqlite. Get its profile and mark it read-only.

You can then undo steps #1 anbd #3. Other Web sites might think they
are setting cookies, but no cookies will be saved. On the other hand,
the cookies that you did save in step #4 will remain saved.

You should check your truly saved cookies about once a month to make
sure none have expired. You might have to repeat these steps to remove
expired cookies and capture their replacements.

Step #2 and thus step #7 can be vastly facilitated if you install the
PrefBar extension from
<https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/seamonkey/addon/prefbar/> and then
install the Permissions Menu from
<http://prefbar.tuxfamily.org/buttons.html#permissionsmenu> into PrefBar.

Thanx. I basically did this except rather than make the file read only I
changed the settings on the 2nd launch back to my default. That didn't
work. I didn't have to do that before 2.46 for this to work so I think
there is something else wrong.

The fact is I think that Allow Cookies for this website got broken in
2.46 as before that release all I had to do was click Allow Cookies for
this web site and it worked fine. Now it does not seem to retain that
setting when I come back as it did before.

To be honest: as no one reported similar problems, it is very likely
that you either have incompatible addons installed (tried safe mode with
all addons disabled?) or something in your profile is broken (tried
temporarily a new profile?).

Actually that's not true. Read above - those issues are known.
Regarding the data manager is that seems to be an issue for large old
profiles and it just temporarily locks up then is fine.
I fixed mine by going though and getting rid of a ton of old legacy

Same issue here.

If you tell me how I would be happy to.
I suspect however you are correct and it is simply a matter of how huge
some of our data bases are making it take a long time to do its thing. I
just cleaned out most, but not all of the cookies and it has gotten
significantly faster recovery time.

I wish there was a way to group select and mass delete items. Would love
to clean out the permissions tabs and other tabs faster but I just have
too much data there to do it the way it works now. The "other/older"
cookie editor was much faster but only works for cookies.

Hi All,

(this is a personal note, so any flak should be directed to me only and
no one else).

While this is in the soon-to-be-released release notes, I felt it's
prudent that I post this here.

SeaMonkey 2.46 took it's not-so-sweet time in being released due to a
plethora of issues (I am so damn glad at least others are more on the
ball than I am -- namely frg whose more clear-headed than I am). That
said, there is one major issue.

SeaMonkey 2.40 will be the *last* version that supports non-CPU SSE
enabled systems. 2.44 (or maybe 2.43) *was* supposed to be the version
that gave users the 'your system will no longer be supported due to
it not having a SSE-enabled CPU' message (or something like that).
Unfortunately, 2.44 was skipped (as was 2.43 and 2.45) and so this
will come to users as a surprise (especially those installing the
full installer).

Since I have no knowledge (we lost this metric awhile ago) of how many
users we really have, I don't know how many are affected by this
and I suspect we won't know unless someone speaks out here or
anywhere. If you are affected, please use 2.40.

My humblest apologies for suddenly springing this version on the user
base without mentioning it anywhere beforehand (the bug that dealt with
this change slipped off my radar).

Edmund

Can I get a quick education - I had to google what that even means.
As I understand this that started in the first Pentium 4 computers correct?
In other words this is only an issue for very old Pentium 3 and earlier
computers correct?

Thank you Richmond.
I tried Ralph's work around GIF and mine doesn't do that for some reason. I
see your bug got declined as "invalid".
Sounds like the fix is to change the user agent. What is the best way to do
that these days? I had a plug in years ago for that but haven't had to do it
in years.

I used "user agent switcher" as described by FRG in the bugzilla. Search
for that in addons. But you have to then download and import a list of
agents to get Firefox 49. Otherwise it's just i.e. and a few obscure
ones.

http://chrispederick.com/work/user-agent-switcher/

Thanx, that did it.
Finding the user agent list to import was way less than intuitive. It
didn't have FF49 in it but FF47 UA fixed the issue.

I tried an new clean profile with the same results.
Any idea?

If I hold my mouse just below the "any time", there is a level where
"any time" changes from grey to black. If I click at that level, I get
the drop-down to change the time.

I see something broken too. I am on 2.49a2. The "search tools" is on the
left instead of the right as it is in firefox.

Good to know it isn't just me. This is a pretty big issue for me.
I tried Ralph Fox's idea with no luck. I get a space where the mouse
pointer changes to a I beam but clicking does nothing.
My current work around is to use "advanced search" which is an overkill
PITA.

Any idea what the issue is and what can be done to fix this? Seems to be
a major bug. Disheartened to hear that 2.49 still has this issue.

It is the only place I have seen this.

I've got the same problem and no one seems to know what to do about
it. It's hugely frustrating.

If the problem is only at Linkedin... have you contacted Linkedin ?
Try to send them a mail:Tech Email hostmas...@linkedin.com

I don't see it as a linked in issue. It works fine in Firefox but not
SeaMonkey. I doubt LI supports SM anyway.
My work around for now is I compose in another editor and copy/past into
SM. A PITA but thankfully I don't do many linked in messages.

If I do update what version? The new 2.46 just put out or one of the
newer builds (2.47/2.48)? I'm not so worried about exploits as I am
about functionality.
