ended up doing too. Now I can tell which emails I
should look at as soon as I can, and which ones(like mailing lists) I
can ignore for a bit. The mail ticker is something I haven't been able
to see any use for either.

really want the convenience of replying to individual emails, why
subscribe to the digest at all? Viewing it this way just makes you
click a few more times and presents the same effect as not subscribing
