Whoops, I shipped that last one off too soon. After clicking CONFIGURE, click on
the FILTERING tab at the top. There you'll see the pro options which can be
clicked on for explanations.

Check out this screen from OPTIONS - PREFERENCES. Highlight AntiSpamSniper and
click CONFIGURE. The pro options are listed there and may give you some clues.

Does anyone know if possible where to disable in antispamsniper
the 'leave mail at the server' option?

There is no such setting per se, but under the ACCOUNTS tab in the settings,
there are a couple of things to check out. I have NO servers in there and am
not having the problem, but you can add them and then configure all sorts of
things.

You might check with the Antispam sniper support

point I hadn't considered and is probably valid.

As far as AntiSpamSniper making decisions before emails even leave the server
suggests you have the "Pro" version which advertises that procedure as a *plus*
to AntiSpamSniper. However, I think that feature can either be adjusted or
eliminated entirely but keep in mind that I'm new to AntiSpamSniper and really
don't know what I'm talking about.

Good luck.

Hello there!

This discussion ... about Antispamsniper ... shortened to ASS and A-SS:

Keep in mind that ASS and especially A-SS probably has a Spam Score. A-SS
likely has a HIGHER (!) Spam Score than ASS simply because it is considered
to represent the A-word by an obfuscated version.

I suggest using Antispamsniper - in full - or A. We all understand, A? :)

If that would the only problem, but many messages aren't even
downloaded from the mailserver, they stay there because ASS sees them
as Spam.
I just removed ASS from my TB and then I got all the mail waiting at

This is something I really don't want that ASS doesn't download
new Mail because its classifies it as Spam.

You can go in and edit the white list and the black list. It is a good idea to
go through them once in a while and remove anything that isn't right. See if
the Amazon mails were accidently black listed for instance and then add amazon
the white list (using wild cards and you feel appropriate

Although I am new to A-SS, for me it automatically moves messages it thinks are
spam to my JUNK folder. I then go into the JUNK folder and manually mark good
messages as NOT JUNK and move them to where they're supposed to be. From then on
A-SS shouldn't ever mark those as junk again (I think).

Antispamsniper

2016-12-08 Thread Goos

Hi,

Antispamsniper obviously marks many mails as spam which I did not
mark myself so. Among them are even mails for which I was waiting,
like order confirmations by Amazon.

My TB has separate folders for Amazon, Ebay, Facebook, etc. When I
got mails there I delete them after reading. When I've done that for
awhile, Antispamsniper marks those mails as spam according to its
logfile.

This is really problematic.I do not have time to check each day that
logfile and undelete mails.

So, I could use some advise how to solve this problem.

Kind regards,
Guus

In Help / About, mine clearly shows "(32 bit)".

The shortcut on the desktop is called "thebat32".

The file name is "thebat32.exe".

I see you are using TB v6.0.12 and, as far as I can recall, 64 bit
versions of TB started with v6.3. Actually, oldest official .msi files
available for download for both 32 and 64 versions are for 6.8.8, as

Jack, I assume you use 64 bit Windows version (Windows 10, am I right)?
Then I assume you use 64 bit version of TB! (am I right)?
If both are correct, than in my opinion you have to use 64 bit version
of AntispamSnipper.

I was using 32 bit version of TB! on my 64 bit Windows 10, and in that
case AntispamSnipper was in 32 bit version. I think, the 'bit' version
of AntispamSnipper should be linked with 'bit' version of TB!, not

Hope that helps :)

AntiSpamSniper 2.0.0.4 Free issues

2008-04-02 Thread Leonard S. Berkowitz
AntiSpamSniper is working over-time. I recently enabled my mail from
TBUDL after not receiving mail for a long time. Now, I've noticed
that mail from posters on the list goes to the Junk folder even when
there is an entry for that person. Not to pick on Rick Grunwald, but
three messages from him from April 1 ended up in Junk. Before I
marked them as Not Junk, I verified that Rick is in the list of
allowed addressees. Right now, I check the Junk folder regularly and
catch these messages, but it is a chore. Rick is not the only person
whose mail behaves this way. A poster on another list repeatedly ends
up in Junk.

Any wisdom about this problem?

Thanks.

Are you sure it is ASS and not a filter, possibly an old filter that you deleted
a long time ago, or thought you had. This happened to me the other day and when
I investigated it was an old common filter that had not worked for ages, but
with the release of 4.0.20 it seems to have reactivated.

There could also be an AntispamSniper rule that is taking precedent
over your non-spam rule. For example, an address that you've
inadvertently marked as black will be filtered out as spam even though
you've marked the mail's contents as non-spam. I'm not sure what
happens if a sender's address appears in both the Friendly Addresses
and Blacklisted Senders lists. Try checking your AntispamSniper log
to identify the rule that marked the mail as spam.

If all else fails, you might need to clear the AntispamSniper database
and start anew.

I'm downloading from that site now. The latest version. Assume that
when install it it will install over the other and know that it is
still paid for (just like TheBat does).

If there is a sniper toolbar, I sure don't see it. I have added the

Also, related to updates, I've set options in the bat to check on
startup for both regular and beta updates, but it hasn't notified me
of .18, .20, or .20.1. Is there a problem?

AntiSpamSniper no longer recognized...

Hello,

Perhaps not a Beta-issue:

This is what I get when I try to assign the plugin:

Could not initialize the plug-in. It either has some internal problems or it
can not be qualiied as a plug-in

See attached capture.

Yesterday I had problems after installing the 70.337 version of ZoneAlarm pro
that made me uninstall ZA, clean the registry and reïnstall it.

Because this took some time I meanwhile installed sygate free version.

Now I already tried:

- installing the latest version of AntiSpamSniper
- reinstalling the latest TB! msi...

The problem doesn't go away...

Did anyone encounter this problem yet?

I moved from Spampal (due to it's increasing uselessness) to K9 and
now onto AntispamSniper. Been using it about a month or so, I guess.

I prefer it to K9 because it seems just as accurate, if not more so, and
if something slips through, marking it as junk both teaches the plugin
and deletes it in one act, rather than having to go back out to K9 to
change it there after deleting it in TheBat. More efficient.

Well, I installed it (trial commercial version) a couple of days ago.
I still do have K9 for other mail-clients, but AntispamSniper does a rather
good job until now.

I did have 2 false positives (of which 1 message from Thomas Fernandez!),
while I did not have even 1 false positive with K9.

But, as mentioned above, marking as junk (or correcting a false positive) is
easier than in K9.

Moreover, mail handling seems to go quicker than through K9.

So, unless problems should occur during evaluation, I think I will go for
the commercial version.

well, will move from SpamPal and use it on my main TB! set up.

Did you ever find a way to copy across the whitelists (all the lists, in
fact) from SpamPal, as they aren't text files are they, so how are they

Increasingly useless? I do not understand.
At any rate... Is AntispamSniper a plug-in or a proxy?

I suppose I do not care much which it is BUT if not a proxy I would be
able to use X-RAY. It's a proxy and I have yet to get TWO proxies to
work together.

How long have you been using it now?

FWIW, K9 is running here something like 1 1/2 years now (or maybe even
longer, the statistics are wrong since I started with a new system about
half a year ago, and only imported the old K9 databases) and its results
are always steady.

I have my ISP delete all messages with a SpamAssassin rating higher than
4 the moment they arrive, so K9 only deals with the remaining few spam
mails that SA couldn't catch, and it does a very good job at that. :-)

Still teaching it and though it doesn't seem too bad I do *occasionally*
see TB! lock up at the importing messages part at the end of

new messages to retrieve and I am tempted to blame SpamPal.

I can second the positive feedback on AntispamSniper. I've been using
it since v1 was announced and bought a license a few weeks later. Few
spams get by it and even fewer false positives.

I tried the BayesIt and Bayes Filter plugin but had problems with
both. Prior to switching to The Bat earlier this year I used K9 with
about 98.5% and AntiSpamSniper seems to be running about the same,

My 2 cents worth.

unbeatable!

There is no technical reason why not. However, the author doesn't recommend it.
Quote:

It is recommended to remove any other installed anti-spam plug-ins from The
Bat!. If you have several plug-ins installed, then the overall rating for
messages is evaluated according to special parameter in The Bat! settings. It
is Average by default and this means that the rating will be evaluated as
average between the rating obtained from each plug-in. Maximum and Minimum
mean that the maximum or minimum rating from all values will be taken as
overall rating. Plug-ins are not learning from each other and that is why there
is no sense in installing several plug-ins simultaneously. The classification
quality will be approximately equal to the quality of the plug-in with the
worst characteristics. Moreover, the less learned plug-in will be unable to
learn normally. The more learned plug-in will correctly classify the messages
unknown to less learned plug-in and therefore it will never learn such
messages.

I would have to lie down for a few hours in a darkened room to fully digest
that reasoning, but it seems plausible ;)
