I don't know about EDO making the sound any better, but it does allow
the Touch player to throughput 24/176.4 and 24/192 sample rates through
to an external DAC.

No!
There's nothing wrong with the SPDIF, and there's no faffing about
trying to get it working, whereas the USB out is very hit and miss.
Any reason for using USB in preference to a perfectly good SPDIF

As you've asked about connecting a USB HDD I'll add a caveat to that yes

If you're potentially having 24/192 files in the library on the device
the Touch will run into problems managing that library.
The Touch does not have serious processing capability - it runs a
slimmed down version of

Log into www.mysqueezebox.com and uninstall the BBC app.
Then reinstall the BBC app.

There are a number of ways to control Squeezeboxes headlessly.
If you have a Smartphone you could always use an app.
With an app you can control a Squeezebox Touch even if it's running
TinySC (the onboard Server).
If you run LMS on a NAS or computer you could simply access the player
from a web
Just tried one of the listen again programmes - the Seth Lakeman one as
it happens - and nothing plays.
It works fine when accessing the same programme on iPlayer via a web
browser.
Also tried Jamie Cullum, and it's doing the same as the Seth Lakeman
programme.

It took a couple of days to transfer 1.75TB of data from from USB HDD

Connect the NSA310 to your router.
It should broadcast itself on your network.
When it does you can find its IP address out.
From a web browser page enter the NAS IP address and you will be
presented with a NAS login page - enter the appropriate information and
you'll enter main system admin.

Try pushing the power on/off button until it makes a long beep.
It should then shut down properly.
It will be readily apparent when it has closed down - when it has shut
down properly press the power on/off button and it should boot up
properly.

The Touch will only play files with higher sample rate if they're FLAC.
Do you have a DAC with coax SPDIF input that can support 24/192? If so
try that, and see if the problem goes away.
Another thing to consider is that some DACs/interfaces have trouble with
24/176.4 files - they just can't

You need to load drivers onto a computer to work with the N-50.
The Touch is native Linux, which the N-50 doesn't understand.

It's been a while since I had a SB3 on the network, so I'm working from
memory.
If you open the player settings in LMS (thee page where you can fix the
output to 100%) you will see something there about attenuation.
This affects the analog outputs on the SB3 - IIRC if you have a value
there of 63
DSD is not supported.
