I am not sure if this is an appropriate comment, but:
As I wrote above, Leah advised me to add the symlink for vmlinuz myself (by
the above mentioned commands). So I booted from a live-usb, mounted the
encrypted partition and found, that the vmlinuz symlink to the vmlinuz file

That would do the trick (if it worked).
That is interesting. I wonder if there is a large scale experiment on that?
And if there is an explanation?

I thought I had more memory than I do, must've misread. My machine is an old

I believe that Synaptic would be the safest option if you don't want to

However, it would be much easier to reinstall if you could back up your data.

hi, thank you for replying. I left microsoft years ago, though I also have a

After reviewing the four fundamental freedoms of libre software, from Richard

Why would you want a read-only version of fuse-exfat if it now supports
writing?
There's no free firmware for that chip. However, you can get a wireless
adapter that has free firmware. Thinkpenguin and Tehnoetic sell such an
adapter and are certified by the FSF, and you can also get these elsewhere.
Look for an AR9271 or AR7010-based one.
The commonly available digital camera I have records and deletes and formats
the fuse-exFat system reasonably well most of the time. If the code for the
exFat system is proprietary, at least the code for accessing the data should
be made free. I do not disrespect proprietary formats, but ther

I do not quite get the situation. Are two Trisquel systems installed on your
computer? If so, you did not need to install Trisquel Mini alongside
Trisquel. You could just have installed the "trisquel-mini" package (and
"trisquel-mini-recommended" for lighter applications) and choose it at the

All I know is, this is deeply troubling.

Thank you for helping. I got the info but can't copy/paste to or from the

hello to you both, I'm studying the Command Line doc to see how to do this
and hope to have my info put here by the time either of you log in.
Are you using keyboard shortcuts? For some reason, when selecting, copying,
and pasting in terminal windows, you have to hold SHIFT as well as Ctrl-a,
Ctrl-c, or Ctrl-v. So to copy text from the terminal, you use Ctrl-SHIFT-C.
To paste into the terminal you use Ctrl-SHIFT-V.
It's good to know you can transform a standard Trisquel install into
Trisquel-Mini by installing a couple of packages, but if the OP had done
that, she couldn't be sure that any issues that came up were not the result
of something that had happened with the older install. One benefit of doing
hi, thanks for your input too. :) Hopefully this thread can help others.
I have the info they asked for, just figuring out exactly what to post from
the list on Terminal, they probly don't need the entire list but I have it if
they do, it's not too long.
Hi. keyboard shortcuts didn't work, what worked is highlighting the text in
Terminal, then when I pasted to my file, I just press the wheel in the
middle. :) The command line doc is wonderful.
