That's what I did here and it works quite nicely. I have
a nightly process that (re)builds a registry of all file with
their device and inode number. Then I shelled the 'LIST.READU'
command to produce a locks listing showing the file name for
each locked item. Quite helpful for us here.

listed instead of the original value.

process a credit card order from our HPUX UniVerse box as
well as void credit card charges in the case of orders being
cancelled.

and that phantom process starts the
actual process that does the work.
So phantom watchdog starts a phantom ph.start.
ph.start's only task is to start phantom.to.do.actual.work.
This method seems to dramatically keep defuct and zombie
processes to a substantial minimum.

We currently run Epicor's ManFact Manufacturing package.
We were planning tp upgrade from 10.0.19 to 10.1.x and we called
Epicor to find out if they have found any problems with 10.1 and their
packages. They told me that the have not officially blessed 10.1
because they are having

Yes, it does show up as logged into UniVerse. The .profile files are
pretty straight forward, just setting PATH, TERM, and a couple of other
values. Checked for a lot of disk activity or something really crunching
and nothing really. It is not isolated to one UV account either.

Epicor has their package of the future which started as Vantage and is
now just called Epicor 9. It is a Progress based system which can run on
either a Progress database or Sql. Unfortunately, my company has taken the
misstep to divert from UniVerse to this monstrosity.

We have an issue where the spooler lock keeps having to get cleared
manually. We stop the spooler, clear the lock and restart the spooler and
within 15-30 minutes, the lock returns and does not clear.
Cause ?Solution ?

We have this issue with programs and with SELECT statements throughout. When
you qualify a date for this year to a date from 2011 it screws up.
