Re: [SOGo] Two Versions

2024-04-25 Thread Alexandru Sauciuc

Hi,

we are getting really weird problems.

Case 1:
Colleague X had appointment A on Monday, 07.01.1970 12:00 (example date).
On 04.01.1970 she moved appointment A to 14:00 and created a new
appointment B at 12:00. (with very few seconds in between)
SOGo did not get to process moving appointment A and tried creating B,
returning a conflict. X's client had processed everything on the client
side, returning false confirmation that her actions were successful and
went into the weekend. Monday appointment A was waiting at 12:00, and
appointment B was not created.

Case 2:
Processing message failed. Status: 800040005. From what I understood,
this means the meeting was created from within an organization, but the
meeting itself is external and not known to the calendar server.
We keep getting these from Outlook users. I do not understand how this
happens, but sometimes it works, others not. No errors are reported on
any client.

Case 3:
If we activate SOGoSendNotifications Outlook users send sometimes 20
duplicates of the same invitation. If we disable it and let appointment
processing to the users via mail, Outlook users are perfectly fine but
SOGo can't send notifications in the webmailer anymore, no matter wether
you check the "Send notifications" box or not.

And these are the first examples that came through my mind. The
Outlook:Thunderbird user ratio is 1:10. We get 10 more support tickets
from Outlook users than Thunderbird, most of them related to
CalDavSynchronizer. This is not a stable solution. Also, mobile support
is terrible. If we activate Active Sync, we need more performance for 5
active sync users than for other 150 normal users, because SOGo reserves
one whole thread for every active sync connection.

That is why we kinda had hopes for the native 2.x, but apparently not. I
am open for suggestions for better compatibility with Outlook, though.

Kind regards,
Alex

Subject: [SOGo] Two Versions

Hello there,

we are a small firm and have been using SOGo for a few years now.
Due to Outlook compatibility problems (more exactly CalDavSynchronizer
errors) we are considering alternatives.

While looking for alternatives, we found out that SOGo is actually maintaining
two versions, one of which (2.x) offers Outlook native support (over
openchange).

Now the question is, how maintained is the 2.x really? We noticed the last
release in April 2022, and 1 year before that but nothing since.
Openchange is a little worse, as we see the last update was in 2015.
Is the version 2.x safe to use in production? What are the main differences
between the version 2.x and 3.x+?

Kind regards,
Alex

We really prefer CalDAV applications but unfortunately there are a few
exceptions that are pushing us into providing Outlook support.

Thank you for confirming, we'll look forward.

You can choose any other CalDAV application.

For me it looks like it isn't maintained anymore.
It is also not shown on the website anymore. 2022 a demo for SOGo 2 was
on the website.
The owner of SOGo changed (inverse to Alinto) and maybe they decided to
drop support for version 2.

Is the version 2.x safe to use in production?

I wouldn't switch to that. As you said, no real work is being done and
I assume there won't be in future.

Mail to the interface will be polled with IMAP.
Only outgoing mail uses SMTP and needs an MTA with a very basic
configuration.

I don't think that what you see in Outlook is really a proof for what
exists elsewhere.
In the screenshot you posted, you seem to have selected the calendar
named "Calendar (This computer only)". To me, this seems to indicate
that what you see there does just *not* prove that it also exists in
SOGo or somewhere else.

SOGo is just a web frontend for SMTP/IMAP server. You can't use
IMAP/SMTP with SOGo. You need to know the server names of the IMAP and
SMTP service of your university.
Ask the IP department there about them, this can't be solved on this
mailing list.

Most residential ISPs block port 25. Try port 587 first, then perhaps 465 for
SMTP over TLS.

You can see attached the parameters of the sogo email and the parameters I put

My problem is that while I am able to receive emails, I am unable to answer,

Sending of the message failed.
The message could not be sent because connecting to the Outgoing server (SMTP)

SOGo itself includes an SMTP client, you can use that, but if the
server is not reachable, the messages can't be send and the user will
be presented an error message.
A local MTA has benefits because it can queue mails in that situation.

You can install whatever MTA you want. It simply needs to be configured
to send all mails to one server (smart host) and use authentication.

The MTA must listen on the localhost ([::1]:25) and SOGo must be
configured to connect to this IP.

With sendmail this is possible and easy.

[SOGo] Account mixup in SOGo Calendar when accessing via Apple Calendar

2024-04-15 Thread Andreas Kesenheimer
Hi Folks,

I meanwhile investigated further and found out that the Organizer name and
e-mail-address is taken from the first alias I am member of (in alphabetic
order). Since an alias may contain several e-mail-addesses the person of the
organiser varies - see „ORGANZIZER“ entry below; by accident it can be me as
well. A resulting insert statement into the sogo_store table looks like the
following:

[SOGo] Connections to IMAP ManageSieve not closed

2024-04-11 Thread Bruno Costa

HI,

We are facing an issue with connections from SOGo to ManageSieve.

Our dovecot is configured as the following:

protocol sieve {
  mail_max_userip_connections = 3
}

And SOGo with:

  SOGoSieveServer =
"sieve://127.0.0.1:4190/?tls=YES=allowInsecureLocalhost";
  SOGoVacationEnabled = YES;
  SOGoForwardEnabled = YES;
  SOGoSieveScriptsEnabled = YES;

When a filter/vacation filter is applied at webmail, the following happens:
* *if there is a free connection*, SOGo communicates with Dovecot and
applies the filter

- the filter is correctly applied and the user receives a response
- the connections to Dovecot/ManageSieve (on port 4190) are not freed.

* *if there are no available connections*, SOGo communicates with
Dovecot and do not apply the filter

- the filter is not applied
- an error is logged:

Apr 05 09:47:59 sogod [2033]: <0x0x55d9298ffa40[SOGoSieveManager]> Could not login 'u...@examle.org' on Sieve
server: <0x0x55d922d155b0[NGSieveClient]: socket=>: {RawResponse = "{code = TRYLATER; ok = 0; reason = \"Maximum number of connections
from user+IP exceeded (mail_max_userip_connections=3)\"; }"; result = 0; }

Is there any way to prevent the connections from being opened/stale
after the changes?

Software versions:

OS: CentOS Linux release 7.9.2009
SOGo: 5.10.0
Dovecot version: 2.2.36

Bruno Costa

[SOGo] Account mixup in SOGo Calendar when accessing via Apple Calendar

2024-04-08 Thread Andreas Kesenheimer
Dears,

We recently migrated from Kerio Connect to dockerized MailCow (release 2024-04)
/ SOGo (version 5.10.0) are very happy with it in general, but, face one
serious issue when creating invitations from our Apple Calendar. The client
integration is configured by installing the respective profile (IMAP, SMTP,
Cal/CardDAV with App-Password).

Everything works fine (mail and address book in total, accessing / updating the
calendar, calendar subscriptions / delegation etc.) except when I create an
invitation with other persons: The organizator is chosen randomly and the
availability does not correspond to the invited either. The invitation is not
sent to the invited as well. When I then open the Calendar entry in SOGo web
interface for editing and save it without any change, the invitation is sent
out and at least the correct organizator (me) shows up, the availability
neither mine nor of the invited still does not match.

Any hint to tackle down the issue will be gently appreciated.

Best, Andreas

[SOGo] Migrating database backend

2024-04-07 Thread Richard
Hi,
I'd like to move the sogo database backend from mysql over to postgresql,
as sogo is the last application in our systems still using mysql and we
don't want to run two different database servers. Now in the past it was
recommended to use sogo-tool backup/sogo-tool restore for that job. Is this
still the current recommendation?

Also, what exactly is being copied over? We'd like to prevent any quirks to
be copied over that may have accumulated over the many years - we
originally started out with Sogo 2.x or something like that - that may not
cause issues now but could potentially cause some in the future.

Best,
Richard

[SOGo] Migrating database backend

2024-04-05 Thread Richard
Hi,
I'd like to move the sogo database backend from mysql over to postgresql,
as sogo is the last application in our systems still using mysql and we
don't want to run two different database servers.

Best,
Richard

Lines starting with "//" are commented, i. e. are ignored.
Therefore, if the two lines you show above are literately what you added
to sogo.conf, you didn't change your SOGo's configuration.

Dear friends,I'm trying to test SOGo 5 nightly, so I installed it and as described in documentation added two lines to /etc/sogo/sogo.conf: //WOPort = "192.168.5.229:2";//WOHttpAllowHost = ( localhost, "192.168.5.229" ); but it still listens only on 127.0.0.1:2how to make it work with specific IP address or better with any IP address ?

I didn't see that error message till now.
But you only can set SIEVE rules on accounts, who already logged in once.

I have set a default filter in sogo.conf.
It will be added for all new accounts on first login.
Example:
...
SOGoSieveFilters = (
{
actions = (
{
argument = "Spam";
method = fileinto;
},
{
argument = "";
method = stop;
}
);
active = <*I0>;
match = any;
name = Spam;
rules = (
{
 "custom_header" = "X-Spam-Flag";
 field = header;
 operator = is;
 value = YES;
}
);
}
);
...

Beware:
For Booleans I had to use Integers in a special format, e.g. <*I0> for
zero or NO.

For already existing accounts, who already logged in, you can use your
command.

Kind regards,
Christian Mack

| access_log /var/log/nginx/sogo-update-access.log;
| error_log /var/log/nginx/sogo-update-error.log;

| }
(you could also make sure to log $request_uri so that you are able to
see the original request in the log file, just in case you're
monitoring the extension versions out there in the wild)
* then, of course, you need the corresponding settings in your
custom-preferences.js:
| // update service
| bool_pref("app.update.auto", true);
| bool_pref("app.update.enabled", true);
| char_pref("sogo-connector.update.url", "https://my-sogo-server/updates/

* in case you do run your internal services with your own certificate
authority and experience issues with the certificate issuer not being

| [Exception... "Certificate issuer is not built-in." nsresult: "0x80004004
(NS_ERROR_ABORT)"
You may get rid of that by force-pushing the following settings with
the plugin:
| force_bool_pref("security.enterprise_roots.enabled", true);
| // do not enforce certificates to be built-in for updates
| force_bool_pref("extensions.install.requireBuiltInCerts", false);
| force_bool_pref("extensions.update.requireBuiltInCerts", false);

As you can see from the code above, I built a plugin with version 114.0.0
in manifest.json in order to be able to test the upgrade procedure.

For a new version of the connector, adding a line to the map should be
sufficient. As there aren't too many releases of connector you'll only
collect a few more lines per year.
I hope this helps some of you that want to try to avoid running php
stuff on their sogo server.

all the best,
Adi

PS: Feedback on this very much welcome.

  | // do not enforce certificates to be built-in for updates
  | force_bool_pref("extensions.install.requireBuiltInCerts", false);
  | force_bool_pref("extensions.update.requireBuiltInCerts", false);

As you can see from the code above, I built a plugin with version 114.0.0
in manifest.json in order to be able to test the upgrade procedure.

For a new version of the connector, adding a line to the map should be
sufficient. As there aren't too many releases of connector you'll only
collect a few more lines per year.
I hope this helps some of you that want to try to avoid running php
stuff on their sogo server.

all the best,
Adi

We are running iRedMail v1.6.4. We have about 20 accounts on there. We use the

Individually, every person is able to use the calendar to schedule events,
however, time and again we are unable to see each other’s events, randomly. We
have played with permissions, changing default visibility etc. but this has not
helped.

Does this mean, you have set visibility for "private" events in the
sharing settings?

Beware:
Changing default settings in sogo.conf will only change those for new
calendars.

Existing calendars are not changed.
Therfore you have to set those changes on existing calendars by hand via
SOGoSuperUser or via script on the server.

We are able to create events from within Sogo (or caldav for outlook) and
people (both on our mail server and external) receive the invitations. It’s
mostly just the question of visibility of the calendar across accounts on our
mail server. In addition to SOGo we use the “CalDav synchronizer” in outlook
and we use cal.com to do automatic event scheduling (the only such software we
have found that we can use for others to schedule meetings with us).

The problem occurs when we add our other accounts to meetings through cal.com.
The events are landing on the calendar and ignore the default events
classification (set through SOGo) and go straight to private. When a meeting
is selected on the calendar is set to public and the invitation is accepted,
the meeting may show the new adjustments, but then revert back to private and
unaccepted (events disappear when looking at other account’s calendars). This
issue is inconsistent and seems to affect random meetings after marking public
and accepting a batch of meetings. We cannot figure out why the settings save
on some meetings where others do not save properly.

I do not know cal.com!!
Therefore I only can guess, that it synchronizes events with SOGo per
calDAV.
As it is the leading system for those events, it will always reset all
event parameters to its local settings, ignoring, what you set in SOGo
for it.

I also guess, that it only will check and synchronize events in the future.
Therefore not resetting events from the past?

Christian Mack

[SOGo] Post upgrade: SOGoVacationPeriodEnabled set to NO for the domain

2024-03-18 Thread Rainer Ruprechtsberger

Hi,

I upgraded SOGo to 5.8 and now get the following errors from
/usr/sbin/sogo-tool update-autoreply:

SOGoVacationPeriodEnabled set to NO for the domain - ignoring.

It did enable new vacation messages, but it does not disable them. Even
on the day where they should be disabled I get:

Enabled auto-reply of user rruprechtsberger
SOGoVacationPeriodEnabled set to NO for the domain - ignoring.

and the message is still active.

I do not have a multi-domain configuration. After seeing this message I
tried to put

SOGoVacationPeriodEnabled = YES;

in the configuration (SOGoVacationEnabled = YES; was previously there)
but the error persists.

The previous SOGo version was 5.0.1.

I'd be grateful for every hint..

Thanks,

RE: [SOGo] settings pane empty when switching to zh_cn or ar

2024-03-14 Thread qhivert
Hello,

So, it was some translated string that caused that. The strings are
converted in an array using the comma delimiter...
In those two languages the comma was not the usual ones but the 'FULLWIDTH
COMMA' (U+FF0C) or 'ARABIC COMMA' (U+060C) causing this "array" to have just
one item instead of the nine expected, causing this empty pane.

I've made a quick fix on transifex for those particular strings so with the
next nightly you should see the settings pane. But I agree there is better
things to do against that :/

Where can I submit a git pull request, please ?

SOGo is not an MTA.
It is a webfrontend for email servers (aka email client), with its own
calendar and contacs in a database.
As long as you have access for your users per IMAP and submission, you
can use whatever email server you like beneath SOGo.

This is also true for its ActiveSync component.

SOGo ist not an MTA. You need to install an MTA like sendmail to
receive mail from the outside.
You also need an IMAP server to store those mails.
SOGo will simply access that IMAP server.

RE: [SOGo] How to disable X-Forward header?

2024-03-07 Thread qhivert
Hello,

It doesn't look like you can do this in sogo. However, you probably can
configure your smtp server to remove this header.
Example with postfix:

global:
main.cf: header_checks=regexp:/etc/postfix/header_cleanup
header_cleanup: /^X-Forward;/   IGNORE
could be restricted to submission if added this header_checks in corresponding
service (master.cf)

Hmm, that's interesting.

I looked exactly there around 2 weeks ago and I found only 0,1,2 as
options for SOGoForwardConstraints and no reference to
SOGoForwardConstraintsDomains.

But now I see what you also see, it is all documented. Problem solved,
thanks again, and sorry for the inconvenience.

Thanks Quentin, I have tested this setting, it works!

This option '3' and the extra config key 'SOGoForwardConstraintsDomains'
are not in the documentation (I checked that before asking here).
Could you add that, please?

Hi,

I want to allow users to set forwarding to internal mail accounts, so mail
sogo.conf contains:

   SOGoForwardEnabled = YES;
   SOGoForwardConstraints = 1;

The fact is that there are multiple internal domains and not all users can send
mails in all domains.

Now it looks like sogo looks at the user's mail identities to determine what
internal domains are for that user. Because what sogo deems an internal domain
differs per user.

So if you have identities in example.com and example.org you can forward within
both, but if you just have an identity in example.com you can only forward to
example.com addresses. What I want is that all users can forward to both
because both are in internal domains.

Is it possible to specify a list of internal domains in sogo.conf?
Or perhaps configure a LDAP query to fetch internal domains there?

- Kees.
