And that's where it's going to be because if it's just ceiling sprinkler
coverage, OH is OH and EH is EH regardless of the occupancy. So there's no
reason to repeat the info specifically in the storage section of 13 when the
limitations of the specific sprinkler type and spacing is listed elsewhere in
the document. There aren't any specific spacing rules for storage versus
non-storage areas for standard sprinklers. Sprinkler spacing are based on
their listings.

The only specific spacing data in 13 is related to in-rack sprinklers.

The AHJ just isn't going to see it in that section.

Well, classifying the stored item only gives me the Class 1 ,2, etc. but I do
not see anywhere that the class is associated with a particular sprk.
s.f. like Class 1, with double row racks less than twenty feet high,
non-encapsulated, no in-rack sprk. I don't have a specific project but rather
an ahj wanting to see it in the standard. All I can find that states anything
pertaining to sprk. s.f. is not in the section pertaining to storage. Only for
light, ordinary, extra hazard and other than standard sprk. such as large drop
or ESFR.

"You need to provide a bit more info. When dealing with storage occupancies
you need to clarify what is being stored, how it's being stored (racks,
shelves, bins, on floor, pallets), in what type of container (box, crate, tote,
jars, etc.), encapsulated, heights of said commodities, etc.

Once you've established the what, where, and how then you can go deeper into
13 and find how the area is classified. For some commodities it could be
spacing of 130 sq. ft, for others it could be limited to 100 sq. ft.

Storage takes some analysis to determine what the appropriate approach will be."
