I spotted VSCAN being listed on the 'flag day' page last week as PSARC/2007/118 and I was wondering what it was. Now I know! http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/on/flag-days/76-80/
It was difficult to guess what VSCAN was about, as no 'caselog' was provides at this link: http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/arc/caselog/2007/118/ (Sometimes for PSARC, there are caselog details, which I often find useful & interesting. Sometimes, as in this case, you just get 'Resource Not Found'.) The code seems to have been committed: http://mail.opensolaris.org/pipermail/onnv-notify/2007-November/012891.html There do appear to be many project going on in the background at Sun, that suddenly seem to appear 'out of nowhere' almost fully formed from the point of view of the outside OpenSolaris community. The same thing seemed to happen with the CIFS server project. It would be nice to have some idea of what is being worked on at Sun, like a sort of road map for the OpenSolaris project. But I guess that Sun must have their reasons for keeping things under-wraps.
