Whether or not the PSARC materials can be opened is orthogonal to endorsing the project. Consider that we have already endorsed the CIFS server. We also need to realize that there is no strong relationship between the CIFS server and the VSCAN framework. We need to examine each on their own merits. The question at hand is whether we, the OpenSolaris Storage community, want to endorse a project for code which is shipping today in OpenSolaris? We need to divorce that from the question of how it got there. (And we need to work to make sure that this doesn't happen again.) Joyce provided a great response on why we should be interested in VSCAN. And we've started to see interest already in the functionality. So, do we want to create a resource for it on opensolaris.org and foster open dicussion? _______________________________________________ storage-discuss mailing list [email protected] http://mail.opensolaris.org/mailman/listinfo/storage-discuss
