In meso, vehhicles don't have to lane-change in order to use the correct turning lane. In the sumo microsimulation, lanechanging does play a role and and can impede traffic. You can check whether it makes a difference if you set vehicle attribute departLane="best" so vehicles enter the simulation already on the correct lane.
Also, meso vehicles depart with maximum speed. To get the same effect in sumo set departSpeed="max". Am Mi., 29.
