This, might be true for chromium but I know very little of chromium so I
really cannot comment... but yeah, firefox does have an issue there.
The forks inherit the codebase from FF. For IceCat in particular I have
investigated more thoroughly than for any other by looking at the actual code

Yeah, one question comes to mind, do you have noscript when doing these
tests?
Noscript is something that VASTLY improves security and privacy.
I doubt firefox would be secure without it. derivatives that are free
software disable some of firefox's junk but noscript is a godsend for any
firefox based browser.
Chromium I don't think has something on the same level of configuration and
security as that.

Neither one is good. I would really like it if someone continued working on
the iridium browser. Then firefox based browsers would have an actual
alternative as you say...
