I had a look at the discussion on the Jcorporate forum that Sandra
mentioned. It is interesting, but I didn't learn a lot from it. I'm
interested in these types of discussions since I haven't made a final
decision as to which approach is best yet. The problem is that the products
are both pretty large, so I guess it really comes down to comparing the bits
you want to use. If anyone knows of other comparisons such as this and the
one on the barracuda site, then I'd appreciate the URLs. For the moment I'm
favoring Turbine because I prefer to use Velocity rather than JSP.
[As a side note - Sandra, you might wish to consider adding a search feature
to your discussion groups - it can be hard to find stuff on there]
The personality issue that Sandra mentions is important too. While I
personally can deal with Jon's rather abrasive style of communication (I
work with other developers all day, I'm used it!), I can understand how
others may be intimidated and put off the whole Turbine project by that. The
difference between the success or otherwise of a project can be influenced
by how comfortable people are with using it, asking questions about it, etc.
