Not necessarily. It's slightly tricky the first time to set up a
modifiable windows system, but many of us do it.

That's more of a religious question than anything else. MS doesn't
update W2K very often, for instance. This is more a sign of neglect
than good coding. But if you isolate your server from the outside
world, if people don't use it to browse the web or receive email,
you've already cut off 99% of the silly MS vulnerabilities. Run a nice
NAT router, with firewall if you think that's wise, and you've probably
got it up to 99.44%

Almost anything will do this. Obviously W2K or WXP, but even slugs
running Samba or Kuroboxen or Buffalo Linkstations. Also obviously
anything running a recent Linux that includes Samba.

BTW, and totally off-topic but ...
