You may find a glass screen protector useful. They are a bit thicker and mine has a good-size cutout at the top where the earpiece speaker and camera is and I can put my finger just on the bottom edge of that and slide down for the control centre or further down for notification centre. Same way I can put my finger just on the bottom edge of it and I hear the little pop sound which indicates you can now slide up for going back to the home screen or slide up further to bring up app switcher. By the way, if you put your finger near the top to look for a back button and control centre comes up this means you are putting your finger too high and then you must be swiping down a bit since control centre will not come up unless you swipe down from the top. As I said in my other post, try a single touch with 4 fingers in the top half of the screen, if a back button is present at the top left this should also take you there. Also remember the Voiceover practice area in Settings > Accessibility > Voiceover, it's a good place to go and practice your swipes and taps.

Here's a tip about using the gestures to get to the control center. Go to the top of your phone where you feel kind of a straight line and kind of an indentation on the phone. This is your speaker grill for your earpiece speaker. If you slide your finger down from this point, you should get to your control center. Good luck.
