Usability is better than themefulness. Artists hate it when you
tell them this, but that's why you occasionally need to beat
it into them that they are designing an *interface*, not an aeathetic
statement.

That's not hard. Change it to something like a medium steel gray,
lighter but in the same portion of chroma/hue space.
