Subject: Re: Infrequent and Irregular Windows Lockups

Oddly enough XP doesn't crash when that stick is in place, but win98 on
the same machine always does !! Linux always refuses to run when that
stick is in there as well. That behaviour confused the hell out of me
when it first happened !! Now I use it as a test piece.!!!!

I will change out ALL of my RAM after I run the test. I do not want to defeat the purpose of the test at this point. Currently I have 2 GB of RAM. I will see if 4 GB helps my performance any. I realize doubling the RAM will have on affect on the lockups. At least the 4 one GB sticks will have came to me in the same shipment from Crucial. That offers a better match.

I realize that malware can be the cause of the problem. Which malware killer is the best one to run? I realize I have downloaded several of these malware killers from Microsoft in Windows updates. I will have to fish around and see what I can find and learn how to run one or more of them.
