The only thing I authorize automatic direct debit for is my
mortgage payment. I trust my mortgage banker to not make
mistakes. All other recurring bills I charge to a credit card, and
the credit cards get paid once a month by me manually going online
to their website and authorizing a one-time debit from checking.
Checks? Who needs 'em.
