Kris, Why are you asking questions? I assume you do so because you find the responses interesting. That's why I ask them, and why I respond to other's questions.
IMO, 'suffering' (Buddhist terminology) is clearly only part of a mental model and . 'Pain' however is both a direct experience and part of a mental model.
