No, no, there's no "sinking-in" in our practice.
It's WE who sink, by relaxation. Muscular tension is the enemy and disease of
the mind.
Wisdom does not come in from the outside: we don't learn it from others. We
learn methods of practice from others, and WITH others.
I won't speak about the church-goers you mention because that's another kettle
of fish, and none of my business. I won't talk about third-parties. Judge and
ye shall be judged, etc. But it's really not good for a person.
When I say people go to retreats, and don't get discouraged, and come back to
practice on more retreats, that's simply the way it goes. One is not out with
a grasping mind, anyway. Practice is for practice. If you open, you open.
Meanwhile, we don't know what an "opening" is. We just practice. Just
practice. It's the expedient thing to do.
