 The New Regulations

On August 3 President Clinton signed into law a bill which will change the
regulation of pesticides used on foods. But this leaves Feingold families
with many uncertainties over how this might affect food additives.
The Food Quality Protection Act was passed with overwhelming support by both
the Senate and House, and was approved by consumer and industry groups which
generally find themselves on opposing sides. The main issue was: How far
should the law go in protecting the public from the risk of cancer
triggererd by exposure to pesticides used on foods? How bad must a pesticide
be before it is considered too dangerous to use?

The law will require that pesticides be judged to cause no more than one
additional case of cancer for every one million people who are exposed to it
during their lifetime. It replaces the 1960 Delaney Clause, which states
that no chemical could be deliberately added to food if it was found to
cause cancer in humans or animals. While Delaney did not address pesticides
which are sprayed on crops, it did apply to the pesticide residue which
would be found in processed food.

At the time the Delaney Clause was adopted, the technology for identifying
chemical residue in foods was primitive by today's standards. It is now
possible to detect such residue in minute quantities. Critics of the current
regulations pointed out that new pesticides were being excluded so as a
result, older ones, which actually posed greater risks, were continuing to
be used.

The details of the new regulations are being worked out by the Environmental
Protection Agency (EPA), and they will be enforced by the Food and Drug
Administration (FDA). It will be several years before the effects of this
new law show up in the supermarket. Unfortunately for consumer advocates,
the new federal law will prevent states from enacting stricter standards for
products grown in their state.

 How will this relate to food additives?

Although the Delaney Clause will no longer apply to pesticides, it is still
in effect regarding food additives. FAUS has long protested that this law
has been repeatedly violated and ignored, but it nevertheless has been a
powerful deterrent to the introduction of even more food additives than we
now have. [The best example of such a violation is the continued use of Red
No. 3, which is an acknowledged carcinogen.] Bills continue to be introduced
to do away with Delaney altogether, but the Clause has withstood such
assaults for many years. Its fate may be determined by the outcome of the
elections in November; a pro-business Congress and Administration could
finally repeal this protection.

 Encouraging developments  remaining questions


It is a major victory for environmentalists that this new regulation will
take into account the fact that pesticides are potentially more damaging for
the very young or those in poor health. Another plus is that the EPA will
also look at the potential for pesticides to add estrogen-like compounds
into our food and water; these have been cited as possible causes for
increases in breast cancer and for reduced fertility in animals and humans.

We do not know how the EPA will reach the conclusion that a particular
chemical will cause no more than one new cancer per million people. (One of
the loopholes in this brand new law is that it allows the use of pesticides
with double the risk -- 2 cancers per million -- if growers convince EPA
that the riskier pesticide is necessary.) It is also unclear if there will
be any acknowledgment that consumers rarely eat only one single synthetic
chemical at a time. What happens when one consumes an apple with one
pesticide and grapes with another? what is the effect of mixing the
pesticide residue on food with synthetic dyes, with medicine, or with
alcohol?

Where did the AIDS virus come from? Scientists think they have traced its
origin to the long-suspected source: chimpanzees.

In a presentation Sunday, researchers from the University of Alabama at
Birmingham said they have convincing proof that the virus has spread on at
least three separate occasions from chimpanzees to people in Africa. One
of these cross-species transmissions was the start of the epidemic that
now infects about 35 million people worldwide.

Chimps, which have probably carried the virus for hundreds of thousands of
years, apparently do not get sick from it. Figuring out why could be
important.

"This is excellent science with biological and virological importance. If we
understood how the chimp has dealt with this infection over time, that could
have implications for human medicine," said Kevin DeCock, an AIDS
expert at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta.

While chimps have long been suspected as the source, "there have been a
lot of loose ends that made people uncomfortable drawing that conclusion,"
said Beatrice Hahn.

Whatever its origins, HIV is a recent affliction of people. At last year's
Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections, David Ho and
others from the Aaron Diamond AIDS Research Center at Rockefeller
University presented evidence that the virus probably first infected humans
in the 1940s or early '50s.

At the opening of this year's meeting, Hahn made the case that this event
almost certainly occurred in west equatorial Africa when someone caught
the virus from a chimp, perhaps after killing the animal for food.

Hahn said her team nailed down the connection by analyzing frozen tissue
saved from a chimp named Marilyn that died from complications of
childbirth at a U.S. Air Force primate center 14 years ago.

The chimp version of the AIDS virus - the microbe now thought to be the
grandfather of HIV - is called SIVcpz. It is extremely rare among chimps in
U.S. lab colonies, apparently because these animals are removed from the
wild as babies and so are never exposed to the virus sexually.

Until recently, SIVcpz had been isolated only three times.

The fourth turned up when a colleague cleaning out a lab freezer ran across
Marilyn's specimens and sent them to Hahn. Her team was able to perform
various kinds of genetic analysis that were unavailable when the chimp
died.

Then the Alabama team used molecular analysis techniques to study all
four examples of the virus.

They found that three of the four were genetically extremely similar to the
human AIDS virus. They included one gene, called vpu, that also is part of
HIV but not of other AIDS-like viruses that infect monkeys.

All three samples came from Pan troglodytes troglodytes, which is one of
the four subspecies of chimp in Africa. These animals live in Cameroon,
Equatorial Guinea, Congo and Central African Republic, the region where
AIDS is thought to have started.

The fourth sample, much less like HIV, came from another subspecies of
chimp that is native to East Africa.

Among humans, there are three major groups of HIV, code-named M, N
and O. M is the variety that has spread around the world, while N and O are
seen only in west-central Africa. The natural habitat of Pan troglodytes
troglodytes exactly overlaps the area where these three groups were first
recognized. The researchers believe that each group arose from a
separate chimp-to-human transmission of SIVcpz.

"We conclude that this subspecies is the natural host and reservoir for HIV-
1," the AIDS virus, said Hahn, whose work is also being published in this
week's issue of the journal Nature.

She said a French team, headed by Phillippe Mauclere of the Pasteur
Institute, recently found three more chimps infected with SIVcpz at a game
sanctuary in Cameroon. One sample has been genetically analyzed and it,
too, closely resembles HIV.

"That nails it," said Hahn. "The only possible criticism is that we had made
too much out of four  animals."

If we do not acknowledge how bad the chemicals are now, what would happen if
we had a war?   Water tablets would not clean the water supply.  Food,
animals might have springform.  Crops, fungus.  It could all be blamed on a
war and we would have no choice but to see our rescuers as the ones that had
the genetic codes that would allow us to eat cloned water, meat and crops.
A monopoly - let's say a world monopoly!  Wonder if they would copyright
those DNA codes, since of course the original animals and plants would no
longer be in existence for any one to get more.  If they were able to get
rid of the original plants like with Monsanto's Roundup Soybeans then they
would not even have to worry that much.

Now what war has been tried to be started - which President originally set

When you know that a chemical can effect the genes up to (usually /
sometimes) the second and third generations, wither you want to call the
effect a mutation, hybrid, (depending on how prevalent and wither you are
referring to animal or human) or what ever the study of genetics shows that
there is the possibility of this mutation breeding true.

Many of the ideas that we have grown up with are being disproven.  You are
not necessarily born with all your brain cells, at least some parts of the
brain do regenerate, and the blood brain barrier does not necessarily
protect the whole brain and the parts it does protect can still be effected,
other wise migraine medicine would not work.

The next one that I am checking out is that fat can detoxify.  Knowing that
the brain is at least 50 percent fat.  Why?  When I have a headache I do not
put it down to stress.  Even if you do not like the smell of a babies diper
does it give you a instant headache?  Anything that can give me a headache
is suspect.  That leads to the thought that these items are passing the
blood / brain barrier and could lodge in the fat area of the brain.  OK,
there are many different kinds of fat and oils (limpids) in our body.  Any
one that has cooked a piece of meat knows that you will have oil on the top
of the water but the meat will still have fat on it.  So will the toxins
eventually leave if we detoxify?

Last question.  How many other "genetic" things have their basis in
chemicals or diet?

PARKINSON'S

Parkinson's disease strikes 60,000 people each year in the U.S.
More than a million Americans are living with the disease at any
one time.[1] More people suffer from Parkinson's than from
multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy and amyotrophic lateral
sclerosis (Lou Gehrig's disease) combined.

Parkinson's is a progressive brain disorder that is almost
always fatal, but the suffering can go on for years. The disease
usually strikes people over age 60, but a few people get it
before they reach 40.

Parkinson's begins when a certain class of brain cells begins to
die, cells that produce a chemical called dopamine, which your
body needs. Dopamine serves as a chemical messenger helping to
control muscle activities. Loss of dopamine leads to the pro-
gressive loss of muscular control, giving rise to a variety of
symptoms: stiffness, tremor, slow movement, difficulty with
balance, difficulty walking, a stooped-over, shuffling gait. As
the disease progresses, the patient may develop difficulty
speaking, symptoms of senility (dementia) similar to Alz-
heimer's, and severe depression.

In recent years, an effective medication, levodopa (known as
L-dopa), has relieved many of the symptoms of Parkinson's for
many patients, at least for a period of time. In addition,
transplanting dopamine-producing brain cells from dead fetuses
into the brains of Parkinson's sufferers has delayed the
progression of the disease in some cases. Nevertheless,
Parkinson's remains a common but poorly-understood terminal
disease.

The causes of Parkinson's disease have been debated for 150
years, with no resolution.

A breakthrough occurred in the early 1980s when a group of young
people developed the symptoms of Parkinson's disease after
taking an illegal drug called MPTP, which is similar to the
narcotic pain killer meperidine (which is sold under the trade
name Demerol).[2] MPTP is also similar in chemical structure to
several pesticides and herbicides.

Subsequently, symptoms of Parkinson's were induced in monkeys by
feeding them MPTP.[3] This led the medical community to begin
thinking of Parkinson's as a disease caused by chemical
exposures. Early studies began to show a pattern: many people
with Parkinson's have a history of exposure to pesticides,
especially insecticides and herbicides.[4-7]

However in the early 1990s, Parkinson's was linked to a gene in
a few Italian and Greek families,[8] and this sent researchers
down the genetic trail in search of the cause of Parkinson's.
Genetic causes of disease are very fashionable at the moment and
it is easier to find research funds to study genes than it is to
find research funds to study the effects of pesticides.

This week the likelihood of a genetic cause for most Parkinson's
disease was effectively ruled out by the publication of a study
of nearly 20,000 twins.[9] The study cohort, made up of white
male twins who served in World War II, was developed by the
National Academy of Sciences 35 years ago. Most of the members
of the study cohort are now in their mid-60s, so they have
reached the age when Parkinson's begins to appear. Of the 20,000
twins studied, 193 individuals were confirmed to have
Parkinson's. The study showed that identical twins do not get
Parkinson's any more often than two unrelated individuals. If
the disease had a genetic origin, then identical twins, who
share every gene, would both be expected to get the disease.
This does not happen, the new study shows.

 "Pentagon Seeks Command For Emergencies in the U.S.. Clinton
Seems Likely to Approve New Plan." New York Times, 28 January 99,
A19.
 The growing threat of major terrorist attacks on U.S. soil
 has prompted the Pentagon's decision to ask President
 Clinton for his go-ahead to appoint a military leader for
 the continental U.S..  The Pentagon currently has no crisis
 plan that would initiate the immediate organization and
 response of emergency personnel to stricken areas.  Distrust
 of the military and fear that it will not serve to protect
 citizens' civil liberties are two reasons given for
 opposition to granting the military this power.  Supporters
 of the plan argue that the military is the most qualified
 for the responsibility of organizing responses to terrorist
 strikes using germ warfare.  A Pentagon official said that
 only military services are able to transport supplies and
 equipment quickly and on a large scale basis in the event of
 such mayhem.  It may be several months before the Penagon
 presents Mr. Clinton with its recommendation.

"No Radiation Effect Found At Northwest Nuclear Site." New York
Times, 28 January 99, A18.
 Results of a study ordered by Congress in 1988 will be
 revealed at a meeting in Washington State on Thursday.  The
 study of 3,400 adults who grew up near the Hanford nuclear
 reservation during the cold war, found no differences in
 thyroid health between these people and others who had no
 exposure to radioactive iodine, the byproduct of nuclear
 fission that collects in thyroid glands.  The study was
 performed by the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, a contractor
 for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, without
 involvement by the Energy Department which currently runs
 Hanford.  Skepticism over the study's accuracy may lead to a
 second study.  Up for investigation is the study's ability
 to obtain reliable data regarding estimated radiation doses
 which is not as accurate as data recorded from medical
 procedures.

"Germany: Greens Press for A-Plants' Closings [World Briefing]."
New York Times, 28 January 99, A6.
 Despite the sudden ban on exporting nuclear waste for
 reprocessing, seen as Germany's first step towards shutting
 down its 19 nuclear plants, the Green Party says it will try
 to close three or four plants within the next four years.

"Senator Revives Bottle-Deposit Bill.  Recycles Idea After 7-Year
Hiatus [Virginia Assembly '99]."  Washington Times, 28 January
99, C5.
 Virginia Senator Madison Marye has re-introduced his
 "`bottle bill'", last introduced in 1991, that would require
 a 10-cent deposit on every metal, glass, or plastic beverage
 container sold in Virginia.  Consumers who return the
 containers to a store or redemption center would get a
 refund on the deposit, and the containers would then be
 recycled.  Money from deposits on containers that are not
 returned would be used to fund programs promoting waste
 management, recycling, and wildlife conservation.  Mr.
 Marye's bill was previously opposed by the beverage and
 retail-business lobbies, but he appears to have a better
 chance of getting his bill passed this year because of
 newcomers in the Senate, solid-waste issues in the
 spotlight, and the bipartisan support he garnered for the
 food-tax cut he proposed last year.

Some one had this on here recently and I will attempt to find it.  Marijuana
is related to some major agricultural plants that we use for food.

On the side - check out Acidophilus - it is a bacteria that if you
do not have you will DIE!  If we pasteurize, irradiate, and use antibiotics
in all our food then there will be no enzymes or anything to help you digest
that food.  Nothing to help kick start you gut after your next antibiotic
shot.  That shot can kill you at that time.  Pesticided, Irradiated, or
antibioticly cell dead - fruit and vegetables, meat, and biologically dead
earth from herbicides, pesticides, etc.  This is a whole lot closer than we
realize.  There have to be some people because of their junk diets that are
already walking dead and it will not take much to tip their scales or to at
least tip them into cancer.  Biological agents from another country?  No
way - whole scale genocide at home.  They are trying to say this is the will
of the people and anyone large enough that has cued in Banks etc. Have been
told that there will still be some alive.  They need to re-write history for
this to happen and if there are too many people will that be allowed to
happen?  No one will be reproductively viable - if you want a child you will
have to pay to have one cloned, if they allow that.

All they will need is a few brains in bottles that are hooked up to
holograms so that those personalities do not realized that everything has
been taken.  They want to say that it is the will of the people that the
people think that there are too many of them.  What would the leaders say -
well they agreed - they just did not realize that they would have to go too
for this to happen.

I say that if there is any other Galactic Cultures would they want us out
there if we can not even take care of our own playpen    EARTH and the
planets around it?

On that basis do you think that Bush and Clinton and the rest see any future
for them out in the stars?  They and their kind would not be wanted so they
are going to control the Earth right here and keep us here or else try to
re-write history and hide behind everyone else again.  They thought that
they could rule in the open and realize that they can not - if they ever
want us to be allowed out of our area of the Solar System.

Will add this to the new essay as soon as I catch up on my work.  Ah, I am
watching my food and trying to not need a shot...

of?_A_Aspartame is made by joining two protein components,
aspartic acid and phenylalanine, and a small amount of
methanol. Aspartic acid and phenylalanine are building blocks
of protein and are found naturally in all protein-containing
foods, including meats, grains and dairy products. Methanol is
found naturally in the body and in many foods such as fruit
and vegetable juices._R_Incomplete and
inaccurate information. Real-world aspartame-containing products
contain more than just methanol, aspartic acid, and phenylalanine.
These products also contain breakdown products of aspartame such as
beta-aspartame (Lawrence 1987, Stamp 1989b) and

Because the amino acids are not bound in proteins, they are
absorbed quickly and spike the plasma aspartic acid and
phenylalanine to high levels. Even the industry researchers
admit that these amino acids are metabolized differently than
those found in foods (Stegink 1987a, Stegink 1987b). Methanol
is found in *available form* in much greater quantities in
aspartame than in real foods (Monte 1984). Methanol taken
orally is extremely toxic to humans. Even though a small amount
is found in the body, as little as a can of diet soda can spike
the plasma methanol levels significantly (Davoli 1986).
This is the beginning of IFIC's nonsensical information
about aspartame. One has to realize that IFIC is the public
relations organization for Monsanto/NutraSweet and many other junk
food companies. I suppose in a strange sort of way that it is
appropriate that they use junk science to defend certain

aninternationally known medical consultant and researcher. 
He is listed inWho's Who in America, Who Who in the World, 
Who's Who in Science andEngineering and The Best Doctors 
in the U.S. Dr. Roberts was selected asthe Best Doctor in 
the US in l984.He has recently retired but was on 
the Active Staff of Good SamaritanHospital and St. Mary's 
Hospital He is the Director of the Palm 
BeachInstitute for Medical Research since l 
984 and a member ofmany prestigious 
medical and scientific organizations - including theEndocrine

estimated that 5 out of 7 on aspartame already have someof the

triggers.Dr. Roberts has done research on Alzheimers for 
30 years and wrote DefenseAgainst Alzheimers Disease which in my 
opinion is a masterpiece. He says inthis book that aspartame is 
escalating this 20 th century disease now the4th leading cause 
of dea th in adults. The Alzheimers Association admitsthat 
50% of every nursing home room is occupied by an Alzheimer

If slowing down the population was what they truly wanted - They would have
taught the facts of life and many people would have had better birth
control.  What they want is to re-write history and to have complete
control.  They have put out a particular time line and implied that it is
the only way to get things done.  After they think they have made sure that
it is the only way that things will be allowed to be done.  They want
complete control before letting us go into space.  The enviroment is being
deliberatly allowed to be poisoned because the chemical and pharesudical
companies would have to pay to many law suits and when they are the ones
that seem to have control over the insurence companies would they want have
to pay out their own money?

Is anywhere in the world going to be safe?  The only reason that I can think
of that it is taking so long is that they want to make sure that every other
nation thinks that a Constitutional Republic is not workable and falls under
the same spell as America.  Notice - The Star and Enquirer, both have
pictures of the Clintons.   How many times do you see people like this
trouted like they are stars themselves, right next to another front page
picture of the Royal family (Star) or Dick Van Dyke (Enquirer)?

At a time long ago - in 97 or 98 I remember reading a News Week article that
referred to a way of recycling that (I believe) was capable of getting rid
of even nuclear waste.

What it did was to break down the item into it's basic components.
Potentially capable of going to the hydrogen and oxygen level.  Does anyone
else remember it?

If that article is true then the human surplus has been artificially
propagated on America.  I have noticed that the news from foreign countries
has slowed down.  Originally I heard of tampons being outlawed in the Orient
because they have bleach in them - a potential cause of cadidia yeast
infections.  I also heard of a case where the Chinese took Novartis to court
and was awarded a settlement against Novartis' Organophosphates.  Knowledge
of these cases would help in America.

I have also heard that some countries refuse to allow their citizens full
access to the net.  I think China and Sweden were two of these - yet I
wonder if it is possible to be able to read by for America to refuse to
allow some of these people to post.  I would be curious to find out the
countries that are actually on this list.

Psychopathy and 
Corporations
Pollution. Worldwide Dioxin Contamination. Acid Rain. Ozone 
Depletion. Global Warming. These are the headlines of the 
90s. The scale of the problems seems immense.
A series of questions I often hear as an environmental activist 
is how can these companies do these things? Wouldnt it 
help to send a letter to their presidents and tell them about the 
problems? How can we convince them to stop?
Most people assume that others think and act like they do, 
including the leaders of multinational corporations. While they know 
that there is evil in the world, they do not think of corporations 
 or their CEOs  as evil. Even when a company is 
exposed as a major polluter, such as Grace Chemical (one of the 
offending companies in the upcoming movie A Civil 
Action) they do not ascribe evil intent. They are surprised, 
even astonished, when they find that the pollution  or, if 
done by accident, its denial and cover-up  was company 
policy.
My challenge has been this: how do I convince people that these 
companies  and often their CEOs  do not think the same 
way we do. They dispassionately and heartlessly do what they need to 
do to make money, without feeling any regret or guilt. If that 
requires that they pollute the environment, or contribute to global 
warming, then that is just business. They lie about their activities 
in the media, and when exposed they continue to lie. They hire 
public relations/investigations firms to improve their image and to 
find out what activists are saying about them. They hire fancy law 
firms to protect them from lawsuits, and even when they lose they 
make sure the settlement never actually specifies the truth of the 
matter.
In 1993, a world-renowned criminologist, Dr. Robert Hare, stepped 
out of the ivory tower of criminology and advanced 
psychology, and published a groundbreaking work about psychopathy, a 
topic usually discussed only by prison therapists and professors of 
criminology. Based on 25 years of his own research, and fifty years 
of the research of others, Without 
Conscience reveals the machinations and results of a 
devastating mental defect  psychopathy - that leaves a person 
without the ability to feel remorse or guilt, and without any 
inhibitions against hurting others and lying about their activities. 
Only once before in history  when Hervey Cleckley wrote 
The Mask of Sanity in the 1941  had 
there been any attempt to bring this problem into public view.
What Dr. Hare did is to awaken and alert the public and the rest 
of the psychological profession to the fact that there was a 
reasonable, rational explanation for what appeared to be irrational, 
cruel, heartless acts by people that seemed otherwise 
normal. Not only does it provide an answer to the 
dispassionate acts of carnage of serial murderers such as Ted Bundy 
and John Gacy (who were personally very charming people) and many 
spouse abusers and child molesters, but also an insight into the 
dispassionate behavior of many other predatory people  such 
as stock swindlers and unethical lawyers  that we 
occasionally come across in our daily lives, who smile at us while 
they steal our collective wallets. 
It even provides some insight into how such people make it to 
the top  becoming the leaders of governments or

It might well deserve the label 
Chemicalgate. The issue involves toxic chemicals and the possible 
effects that exposure to them can have on perfectly healthy people. It has all 
the elements of a classic cover-up - including a seemingly deliberate attempt to 
suppress the nature of serious physical problems now afflicting thousands of 
Operation Desert Storm veterans. 
According to recent news accounts, 
scientists commissioned by the Pentagon have been unable to come up with a 
single underlying cause for the variety of symptoms that have collectively come 
to be known as gulf war syndrome - a malady characterized by chronic 
fatigue and exhaustion, respiratory and cardiac problems, memory loss, aches and 
pains, rashes and tumors and a general breakdown in health. 
Only three or four months ago a 
likely explanation for the syndrome was being widely reported. The 
theory - accepted by no less than the commander of Walter Reed Army Medical 
Center, Maj. Gen. Ronald Blanck - was that gulf war syndrome was nearly 
identical to a disorder suffered by a growing number of civilians. 

The condition, MCS or multiple 
chemical sensitivity, is one in which a whole series of medical problems can be 
triggered by various common, everyday chemicals following significant exposure 
to a more toxic substance. 
It seemed to make sense, considering 
the fact that the stricken veterans in most instances had undergone intense 
exposure not just to the noxious substances in oil fire smoke but to what a 
military journalist, Maj. Richard Haines, described as a toxic 
cocktail from a variety of sources while participating in the campaign. 

So why have all the references to 
MCS suddenly disappeared from the official dialogue on gulf war syndrome? Could 
there actually be no such malady as multiple chemical sensitivity? 

That's what the mainstream medical 
community has been maintaining for decades - that MCS simply doesn't exist and 
that doctors who claim it does and who offer detoxing and avoidance 
therapy (specialists in what is called environmental medicine) are 
merely quacks out to exploit gullible patients. As recently as December 1992, 
the American Medical Association's Council on Scientific Affairs was claiming 
that it should not be considered a recognized clinical syndrome. 

So what about those reports linking 
gulf war syndrome to MCS? Were they just another example of how cockamamie 
theories can get picked up by the media that didn't bother checking out their 
validity with the experts?
That's what a lot of the experts 
would have you believe. For years, those same experts have been telling alleged 
MCS victims that their symptoms stem from an irrational perception that their 
environment is physically harmful to them and what they really need is 
psychiatric help. 
This premise, however, tends to 
become somewhat murky when one listens as well to enough people who claim to be 
afflicted with MCS. The accounts these individuals give of how their illnesses 
developed all seem to have a remarkable consistency. 
Most of them, in fact, sound as 
though they were perfectly normal, average people who had never given a thought 
to the possibility of chemicals jeopardizing their health before becoming 
acutely ill from a close encounter with some toxic substance and subsequently 
finding themselves unable to tolerate things like fragrances, detergents and 
pesticide fumes. 
They sound an awful lot, in fact, 
like those young, robust recruits whose health and vitality suddenly and 
inexplicably declined after relatively brief tours of duty in the Persian Gulf. 
They were also told after routine physicals examinations that what was wrong 
with them was purely psychological. 
The most striking similarity, 
however, can be found in the research done by Haines, who has spent two years 
interviewing hundreds of affected veterans. He claims that 95 percent reported 
suffering from a newly acquired sensitivity to low levels of common, everyday 
chemicals. The data he's collected have firmly convinced him that the 
great majority of them clearly have MCS. 
Nor is he the only one to report 
such findings. Accounts of MCS-like symptoms in Desert Storm veterans come from 
other sources as well, such as Dr. Myra Shayevitz, who works with patients at 
the Northampton, Mass., Veterans Administration Hospital. He is also one of a 
growing number of physicians who claim to have developed MCS themselves after 
being exposed to toxic agents in hospital environments. 
In a sense, the problem is all 
in their heads, according to Dr. Claudia S. Miller, who specializes in 
environmental and occupational medicine at the University of Texas Health 
Science Center at San Antonio, and is co-author of the book Chemical

 ENTRY AND FATE OF CHEMICALS IN HUMANS

ROUTES OF ENTRY

Chemicals, including pesticides, are widely distributed in the environment.
Therefore there are many possible sources of exposure to these chemicals
for humans. Substances which are in ambient and indoor air may be inhaled
into the lungs while those in water or food may be ingested or inhaled
through mist or steam (such as in the shower). Direct contact with the
chemical is the most prevalent way environmental chemicals can penetrate
the skin, but exposure through the skin may also occur as a result of
contact with chemical contaminants in air and water (for example bathing or
swimming).

A single chemical can enter the body through all three routes of exposure
-- inhalation, ingestion and skin penetration (dermal exposure). A
compound, such as chloroform, which evaporates readily and which may be
found in drinking water illustrates this point. When this water is used for
drinking, ingestion is the route of exposure. When it is used for
showering, exposure may occur due to inhalation of the steam or mist and
from direct contact through the skin. Similarly, pesticide use can involve
more than one route of exposure if precautions are not taken. A pesticide
which is sprayed can be inhaled during use; penetrate through the skin
during mixing and application; and be ingested through food if not washed
off hands or food before eating.

ABSORPTION, DISTRIBUTION AND FATE

Once a chemical enters the body, it is often absorbed into the bloodstream
and can move throughout the body. The amount absorbed and the rate of
absorption depend on the chemical and the route of exposure. This movement
of the substance through the bloodstream is called distribution. Through
distribution a chemical can come into contact with all parts of the body,
not only the original site of entry. In some cases, such contact, distant
from the site of entry, can lead to adverse health effects.
For example, ingestion of the pesticide parathion into the stomach can lead
to damage to the lungs.

Once a chemical is absorbed into the bloodstream, it can have several
different fates. In many cases, it is rapidly removed from the body through
the urine or feces. In other situations, it may be stored in various parts
of the body, such as fat or bone, and remain in the individual for many
years. A compound may also lead to a toxic effect through interaction with
certain organs or tissues in the individual or with other compounds in the
body.

Often, a substance which is absorbed into the body interacts with
particular body chemicals and is changed into one or more other chemicals.
This process is called metabolism and the products are called metabolites.
Metabolism may lead to products which are easier for the body to excrete
and so can protect the body from possible adverse effects. In other cases,
however, the metabolites may be more toxic than the original chemical which
was absorbed. The variety of products resulting from metabolism may have
the same possible fates as the original chemical -- storage, excretion or
toxicity.

CHEMICAL PROPERTIES

The particular properties of the absorbed chemical are quite critical to
its fate in the body. Certain chemicals are very resistant to metabolism
and readily dissolve in fat so that they tend to be stored. Dieldrin is a
good example of this type of compound. Other chemicals are more rapidly
metabolized and excreted and are gone before they can cause adverse
effects. The organophosphate pesticides tend to behave this way at low
doses.

AN INDIVIDUAL'S CHARACTERISTICS

The characteristics of the individual who is exposed are also very
important in the fate of the chemical. The age, sex, genetic background,
previous exposures, diet and other factors play important roles in the way
that the body interacts with a chemical and in turn the potential for
adverse effects. Thus, the characteristics of both the chemical and the
exposed individual are important factors determining the fate of the
chemical in the body.

THE TIME COURSE FOR EXPOSURE

In the case of a single event exposure, it is the total amount of chemical
to which a person is exposed that determines the severity of the toxic

So what kind of double standard was Clinton practicing here.  That the chief
is the only one that is suppose to keep his job if he is caught?  The
President is elected by the will of the people.  So, this implies that
America can not be trusted, does not keep promises, doesn't believe in
commitments (oath of office, marriage), etc.  Why didn't he say that he
believed in black masses (genocide), open marriages, being worshiped as a
phallic god, etc.  Would he have been elected if he had?  Yet now we try to
cover it up like a cat covering up his bowel movement (caca).  That implies
that is what we think that Clinton actually is and that we think that is
what America is.  Look at the propaganda on this list about what other
presidents have done.

Well I have another idea.  How would you have a Constitutional Republic?
Even with voting you would realize that not everyone would have the control
required to get to the voting booth and know all the issues.  How?
Electoral College.  How would they decide back then?  Anyone hear of the
dreaded Census Takers?  That would eventually evolve into statistics.  This
would be like the Nelson Ratings, or the Kinsey Report.  We have believed
these because these people are professionals.  The Census and then the
Statistics on the American people would be how they believed - the Will of
the People.  So as a elected official that was a role model of America the
President would also be required to show alternative ways out of different
dilemmas.  Think of Kennedy's escapades - what no one mentions is that it
led to sexual harassment suits being recognized in court.  That no one was
above the law.

What has Clinton done?  Gotten hold of the statistics, used the special
interest groups and fed up a bunch of.  I believe it is called "Divide and
Conquer"?

You will please observe that most of the time when the
military get really officious about these matters, they involve
fraternization.   That's any relationship between officers and enlisted.
They
are pretty sticky about that.

To me this would imply that the military does not approve of pedophilia in
any form.  To try to make sure that the officers learn to protect those that

Nazis.  At the time of Nixon the will of people helped throw him out.  Could
be Clinton has control of  of the statistics that go into the government?

Are the worlds Civility, Trustfulness, Commitment - and so on dead?  Is he
redefining these words to the extent that new dictionaries will have
different definitions of what America defines these words as, that the will
of the people believes Clintons is the current definition?  At one time a
mans word was his bond, John Wayne movies.  Granted the good guy did not
always win like in those movies, but if someone was found out the will of
the people was such that he was taken out.  A social outcast.  Is the
current propaganda making us all feel that we are already social outcasts so
that we will identify with him?  Peer Groups, when we peer groups important
before?  As kids most of us were able to grow up knowing that our parents
would take care of us.  If Clinton were your adopted father would you
believe that he would take care of you?  Oh he has been there to?  What has
he really done.  (Usually) Taken one person out of each special interest
group to highlight the group and get their sympathy while he "$^%" The
group as a whole.  America is protective as a country.  We protect our
rights.  Maternal instincts as a whole?  Thinking that he has a good point
here and a good point there - so eventually he will straighten up?  That he

To any that have heard that shampoo can cause problems here is a small part

"clear evidence of carcinogenicity," NTP also emphasized that DEA is readily

They are referring to the fact that these suds helps used to be made from
coconut.  Now they are based on substances that are detrimental to health
and that can be absorbed through the skin.  One thing that this article does
not hit on is that mercury used to be the only thing that could be used in
makeup intended for the eye area.  Mercury is absorbed through the skin too.

The human body is redundant and can take a lot of abuse but the
accumulative effects of these items are catching up with us.  ADD / ADHD has
been shown in adults.  So, when you consider that children are still
developing and breath a lot faster than we do - what bothers us, can
defiantly effect them.

ofCovington, La that I work with asked me about excitotoxins and ADD and
Isuggested that they add magnesium supplimentation to their protecol.
Theyhave found it to be very helpful. As you know, magnesium acts by
blockingthe voltage gated NMDA receptor physiologically. Magnesium
deficiency isvery common because of poor diets and use of carbonated soft

tissue lead levels. Likewise, recent studies have shown that MSGdramatically
elevates free radical generation within all tissues, not justbrain, and that

importance of this observation is that this would alsoraise the likelihood
of cancer induction in several exposed tissues,including brain, by oncogene
activation by said free radicals.It is unfortunate that so few in the
field of ADDand ADHD care givingunderstand the central importance of

excitotoxicity, despite other explinationsbeing given. For example, the

locked up but which had been newly treated with allsorts of 
products, she says. Most of them, I found out, were 
toxicchemicals, and they really did me in. Her symptoms included 
burning eyesand skin, allergies, headache, dizziness and 
disorientation. Robson, now in her 
early 60s, believes her problems stem fromexposures to formaldehyde and 
related chemicals. She became so chemicallysensitized that she was 
forced to leave her job and drastically rearrangeher life, to the point 
of refurnishing her home and seeking medical help.The smell was 
too much in these newly built houses and now Ive been forcedto 
live in an older senior citizen home, she 
says. But she adds, Im 
doing remarkably better than many people. Robsonhas been in touch 
with more than 9,000 people experiencing similar symptomsthrough the 
hotline (800-968-9355) she started in 1992.A GROWING 
PROBLEM? Formaldehyde is 
probably the top indoor air quality troublemaker,according to 
Thomas J. Kelly, a chemist at the Battelle Memorial Institutein 
Columbus, Ohio, and author of a new study of the chemical commissioned 
bythe California Air Resources Board. The study, described in the 
Januaryissue of Environmental Science and Technology, a journal 
published by theAmerican Chemical Society, is the first of its kind in 
more than 15 years. The 
chemicals ability to trigger health problems and allergies 
hasbecome well known in the housing industry during the last 10 years, 
says DonBremner, vice president of Restoration Environmental Contractors 
in Torontoand Tampa, Fla., a company that removes formaldehyde from 
homes. A lot ofpeople are sensitized that werent years 
ago. How safe is your 
house? Formaldehyde is a 
base product in most home products, includingcabinets, insulation, 
counters, wallpapers and finishes, says Bremner. Butthe Battelle study 
is the first to extensively test a whole range ofhousehold products, 55 
in total. The institutes 
chemists chamber-tested each product by placingthem in a 
closet-sized chamber for 24 hours. They then measured theformaldehyde in 
the air. By far, the highest emitter 
was an acid-cured wood floor finish thatgives floors a glossy shine. 
Fingernail hardeners and polishes were amongthe highest-emitters in the 
category of wet products. Other relatively highemissions came from 
freshly applied interior latex 
paint. Among dry products, certain 
permanent press items, such as shirts,pillow and linens, gave off 
surprisingly high emissions because of thecoatings applied 
to them, says Kelly. These 
products have not been tested as extensively as have pressedwood 
products, particle board, plywood and other construction 
materials,says Kelly. The new study fills the gap 
by determining the rates offormaldehyde fumes emitted from a wide 
spectrum of products used byconsumers and found in typical California 
homes and offices, he says. 
People should be aware of how many different products contain 
thesechemicals because its up to them to minimize their 
exposures, says Kelly. The 
good news, says the chemist, is that many products, such as 
woodproducts, emit lower levels than in the past; the industry has 
adopted somevoluntary standards to bring emissions down. However, the 
Battelle studyfound that the urea-formaldehyde particleboard tested did 
not meet thatstandard.A COMMON 
CHEMICAL Formaldehyde has long been 
regarded as an important industrialchemical, involved in so many

Reno twice late last year refused to seek an independent counsel to
investigate Gore on campaign-related questions.

In December, Reno decided against an independent counsel to investigate
President Clinton and Gore over political ads financed by the Democratic
Party during the 1996 election.

In late November, Reno decided not to seek an independent counsel to
investigate whether Gore lied to FBI agents about telephone fund-raising
calls from his office during the 1996 presidential election campaign.

Haney faces charges brought by a Justice Department task force
investigating
campaign finance abuses that he made nearly $80,000 in illegal
contributions
to Clinton's reelection effort and to two other candidates from Tennessee.

The House Commerce Committee investigated financial and political ties
between Haney and top Democratic officials, including Knight, over the
lease
of the Portals building in Washington, D.C. It is scheduled to become the
Federal Communications Commission's new headquarters.

The panel questioned whether $1 million payments to Knight and former
Tennessee senator Jim Sasser were illegal contingency fees and whether
they

Subject: A room with a view in Woburn, Massachusetts 
Folks, On the eve of the national premiere of the film A CIVIL 
ACTION, I would like to reflect on some of my personal memories of 
Woburn: I have more than a professional interest in the 
poisoning of the Woburn town wells with industrial solvents by several 
corporations including W R Grace and Beatrice Foods. My family drank, 
cooked  showered with the water from Wells G  H in Woburn, 
Massachusetts between 1971 and 1979. Let me describe 
briefly the panoramic view from my parents' home at 20 Henry Ave, east 
Woburn: The Kane house is also on Henry Ave. just several 
frontyards away. Kevin Kane Jr., at 2 1/2 years old was diagnosed in the 
summer of 1973 with acute lymphocytic leukemia. Patrick Toomey and his 
family lived around the corner from the Kanes, just a short distance due 
north of my parents home. Patrick Toomey died of acute lymphocytic 
leukemia in 1979, at the age of 11. Anne Anderson's home was less than a 
five minute walk to the east. Jimmy Anderson, her youngest child, died 
of acute lymphocytic leukemia in 1981, at the age of 12. The 
Zonas, Aufieros and the Gamaches were nestled around Anne Anderson's 
home in the Pine Street neighborhood. Leukemia seeped into those homes 
as well. The G  H contaminated wells were about 1/4 mile to 
the northeast of these homes. Time passed. Each 
summer the townspeople were told by city officials that there was a 
water shortage and that limits were placed upon its use. They were never 
told that solvents contaminated their drinking water between 1964-1979, 
nor were they told that as the water level in the wells dropped the 
concentration of toxins in the wells became even higher. In fact, just 
prior to sinking the new wells in 1964 the town notables 
were advised that the area selected for the placement of the wells had 
contamination problems. Nonetheless, they sank the wells and time 
passed. If I remember correctly, the Massachusetts Department of 
Environmental Protection tried to shut the wells in the late 60s, but 
the town notables pressured the agency to back off, and they 
did. In fact, Tom Mernin, the city engineer who lived on Wood St.(a few 
minutes away from my parents home) would often see my dad watering his 
garden, sometimes while water regulations were enforced. He usually blew 
the whistle on him when he got downtown. My dad would get fined 
each August by the city of Woburn for watering his sizable garden-- 
it might have been the most toxic garden in Massachusetts. In reality, 
he was getting fined not as he imagined, for growing safe food for 
his family, but for watering his greens with trichloroethylene 
(TCE)! Mernin was the local official who actually had the power to shut 
the wells down, but he thought Anne Anderson and the others were 
fruitcakes (I'm sure this sounds all too familiar). He was frequently 
quoted in the local paper that the residents of Woburn had nothing to 
fear, just turbidity problems, the water was safe, end of story! The 
town notables?fontfamily?param 
Geneva?color?param 03E8,0013,00C8?smaller 
repeatedly?/smaller?/color?/fontfamily told the 
community that the water was safe to drink. And, time 
passed. In a deadly irony, Tom Mernin also succumbed to leukemia 
prior to his 50th birthday. At the time I didn't realize 
that the Toomeys lived next door to Tom Mernin. The Toomey's story is 
one of the most tragic in east Woburn. As mentioned above Patrick died 
in '79 of leukemia from exposure to the drinking water. Soon 
after,Toomey's oldest son Michael was struck and killed by a car while 
on Wood Street. Neighbors said he was gathering up wild flowers for his 
mother. Hearts were broken all over the neighborhood. Years later I 
heard that all the Toomey children had many kinds of skin afflictions 
from the water. The quality of water became so obviously bad 
that my parents and others had decided to move onto bottled 
water--rather inconvenient in the mid-70s to locate. However, they 
continued to shower with it not realizing the risk from both inhalation 
and dermal exposure. Suffice it to say that my Woburn experience 
played a large part in shaping my interest to help in the struggle to 
protect the public's health. My feeling is that we are suffering the 
all-embracing demands and short-sighted conveniences of post modern 
industrial society. The toxins are all around us and have been for many,

Multi-billion dollar company poisons community;people get sick and die;
the company denies the problem as long aspossible, hoping to use its
money to outlast desperate families seekingjustice from the violence
perpetrated against them. When it seems thecompany may lose in court, it
settles privately for a sum in exchange for awaiver on any future
liability.This script has been repeated over the years - Love
Canal, Bhopal,Jacksonville, DES daughters. The names of the companies
are different, theoutcomes are similar. Children's lives are just the
cost of doing business.The world goes on. The companies gear up their
public relations machinesto recreate an image in which they bring
good things to life. Eventuallythe horror fades and is
replaced by other images from our daily diet ofhorrors from other
places.But what gets lost in the public's consciousness is the
ubiquity of thechemical assault in communities across the country. There
are hundreds ofWoburns in the United States, where communities living
next to chemicalcompanies, paper mills, computer manufacturers, military

dioxin in mother's milk that newborns get80 times their lifetime
safe dose of dioxin during their first six monthsoflife.
In June, 1998, Consumer Reports published test results that
showedallthe major baby food brands had alarming levels of dioxin in
popularly soldmeat-based products. Dioxin is a probable carcinogen and
is known todisrupt the hormonal system of the growing
child.* According to a National Academy of Sciences report,
there are 70pesticides allowed in commercial foods that cause cancer in
animals, while20 others are considered probable human carcinogens. Other
allowablepesticides are neurotoxic, affect normal immunological function
or impacton healthy reproduction.Children are the most
vulnerable population to this toxic assault sincetheirrapidly
developing systems are more sensitive to these chemicals. It is nowonder
that cancer now kills more children under fourteen than any
otherdisease.The frightening fact is that we all live in
Woburn. As a society, we areconducting an uncontrolled chemical
experiment on our children and futuregenerations. While the chemical
industry continues to deny its products arepoisoning us, it is no longer

defiantly want targeted is the Library of Congress and the Vatican, that
would allow them to re-write history.

The underlying theme though is that a constitutional government is not
viable.  That the education of the people is detrimental or that it can not
happen.  What has happened?  Can governments like the Soviet Union be
viable?  Look at the money, our government has been propping them up.  The
Cold War over?  It has just started.  The biggest problem is that we are
going to have to take care of it  (the cold war) inside of our own borders.
The US Military?  Do not count on the US Military they are capable of being
taken out the next time that the personal are required to be vaccinated.
Opps, Bad batch of Vaccine.  The Solders for this?  Our Educators, Our
Universities, Our Schools, Our Teachers.  Will the word go out this time in
total or will it end up being covered up by Headlines like "Kent State",
"Kennedy is Dead" - the message corrupted by using someone like John Lenin
and saying that his way of thought was true.  By talking about Homosexuals,
who hides behind (the true) Homosexuals?  Pedophiles.  What is an area that
the Clintons have supported?  The making of sexual movies through the art
foundation.  One World, Boring!  Viva La Difference.  But the belief in
life.  The Constitution was to be the next evolution of thought.

what is sex?  What is your basic definition of sex?  A sport or

have in Partners that Ice Dance is amazing, or is it?  It is not what you
do once you get there, that is something that is easy to find out.  It

Now comes the kicker, did you know that your federal
government underwrites X-rated movies as a art form?

adults and that they respect the fact that I am not interested in
it.  What I do take exception to is the fact that this contact
SPORT is being underwritten by our ART foundation as a ART.

Now to get picky about this.  True artists normally want
a audience and to create a following so that they will make
money.  They have agents so that as they become more popular
someone else will be there to handle the bookings and to
read the contracts so that their rights are upheld.  They also
have insurance in case they are hurt and can not work.  So
they do take exception to being hurt or maimed - it might make
what they have (themselves) less marketable.  Sex movies and
I am talking about all of them here, not just the ones that the
government is underwriting, should follow the same rules
(for actors and actresses) as any other movie.

Basic rules seem to be
1) do not harm living things
2) since you are a marketable item, take care of yourself.

The fact that these are followed can be seen in such movies
as Arachnophobia and Ben.  In Arachnophobia the (dog gone) spiders
were not allowed to be hurt and in Ben every scene with Rats had
to be OK'ed.  The animals had agents?  Maybe they had those
to, but they definitely had the SPCA and Human Society as well
as the insurance company that the film had hired.

I recently received a e-mail advertising a movie about a
woman that had broken a record.  Something about a 100
men in 24 hours.  Granted it implied that she was taking care
of more that one at a time but I did the math and wondered.
A actress in a movie is careful of her assets and if a horse is
in a movie they check for saddle chaffing.  Should we require
less of these movies which seem to show how some (should)
have sex?  She had to possibly be chaffed, wonder if her
agent was even worried?  The Eviel Kanevel of the sex world?
Well we do not underwrite him as art either.  Let's get back to
that chaffing.  If her agent is not going to watch out for her
interests then maybe we need to have the SPCA do it.  We
should have our artists aspire to at least be at the level of
animals.  Even if they are not being treated as humans they
can at least have the protection that we would afford a
Spider or a Rat...since you could get hurt in even normal sex.
Would be nice if they were treated as humans, they might
even act like ones.  Now as to the Lesbian and Homosexual
movies that our art dollars are subsidizing too.  Well, the SPCA
might be applicable there as well.  I imagine that there is some
abuse and chaffing that might need to be looked
into and checked on.

Well, if sex is a sport then the practice of this sport is not
what a normal partnership is about.  Unless you consider
partnership and collaboration a sport to.  I personally
consider those things to be arts.  It should take a lot longer
to get to that horizontal dance, then it does to do it.  If that
is the case, then where do you practice if you want a relationship
to work?  It is not in the bedroom, even the best sport has a
schematic or choreographer and if you can not work as a partner
ship outside of the bedroom then your partnership in the bedroom
will probably suffer as well.  Still and all (most) males are used
to practicing the physical aspects of things.  Also many would be
good players on the field but lousy coaches or owners of a team.
When you get married, do you want a player from the field or
someone that is able to see the plays that are happening and
capable of working with you to win the game (the marriage)

the history of the KKK.  Started at a University and  continued as a way to
keep businesses from bringing in Blacks as strike breakers.  If you find
more please list the book or URL.  If you want to know more ask questions

that have studied this extensively.  Hawk does have a interesting mind set

This is a basic welcome letter that I have for people dealing 
with ADD / ADHD
I am going to follow this up with a URL that talks about 
CHADD. What I want to know (at the end of this is who funds CHADD?)

There are as many different ideas on ADD / ADHD as there are people 
giving them AND the possibilitythat many, if not all are right, at least to 
a degree. I know that helps. 
 Many people would like to simply point their 
fingers at the parents or the school and say that is where the problem 
is. They are usually the ones that read IDEA to only mean that the 
child has mental difficulties because some one has not done their job. 
IDEA is much more than that. I received permission to post 
this: PUT ON THE SITE WITH PERMISSION *(New 18 Nov 
98) How many schools have accommodations 
for students or teachers that are sensitive to the air in schools. 
like MCS or asthma?  It is 
required under the IDEA.=20 I would like to find 
as many accommodation plans or Indoor Air Quality Policies or statements 
that are actually out there and working or at least trying to work, or at 
least written.  This is a Pa. site, but the 
regulations are US wide. Also, please be advised that there are recent 
changes that are effective now that could affect parents filing for Due 
Process These changes are in the new IDEA. There is now a 
requirement on parents to notify the school district within a specified 
number of days of certain things, and also a requirement that the parent 
propose solution(s). you will need to check these new issues out ... I 
will look for some clearer info. on this. I may need to try to send 
you the specific section of the new IDEA that reflects these

take the other side on the belief that ADD / ADHD could be genetic. 
So, hopefully they have used the delete button already since by saying ADD / 
ADHD is genetic they have already flamed my web page and me. Still, I 
believe that almost all ideas need a outlet, but until I see it recognized 
by the Human Genome Project I will continue to be skeptical. That 
disclaimer said. I am also dubious about terming ADD / 
ADHD a genetic, since I (personally) have yet to see a study that can back 
that up. What I have heard is that ADD / ADHD (can / seems to) run in 
families. I (personally) am working on the premise that the same 
family is eating the same food and around the same chemicals. 
Example: (most) everyone in the family 
might have a low grade reaction to the same 
cleaner, perfume or scent and some notice it more than others. This is 
can be expressly true of children.  There is another 
group that I am on, made up of principals, students and parents that is 
looking at the air quality of their schools. So, where 
does that leave you? Probably where I was four years ago,

Working rich normally realize how they got there and that
most anyone could potentially have a chance to get to the same
place. That what they have is a responsibility and Obligation. Many
(of them) do not think of what they have as toys, but as tools! If you are
capable of using these tools (as carrots) to motivate others to study and work
to get to that level too, that is the ultimate! To teach people to read so
that they are capable of educating them selves.
To put this on a personal basis. I check with
my conscience on many things that I do. Example: I am great at
phonics and eventually would like to help at the public library with the people
that are learning to read. Why don't I - Not counting kids, school, and
finances? Because I see things in the school to work law that
will make me a commodity (my mind and education) that can be directed (bought
and sold) by the government if it goes into effect. That can make me
unable to direct my life because if the Texas Constitution (which is based on
the US Constitution) is able to be re-written (like they have talked about and
want to currently do) - If I even want to go to school, and have my children
schooled, then I will have to bow to however the government decides that they
are able to make the most money from my education. Sold to the
highest bidder.
A year ago I aspired to go to the Department of Education
as a person that was financially independent - as a science fiction writer -
then on to Astronomy with Physics, still writing science fiction. I should
be past Linear Algebra, yet I have not been able to take time to go past the
College Algebra that I learned a year ago because I am trying to make my voice
heard. Waco of the 1980's was clean enough that the the major people /
members of Baylor and the Catholic Church were willing to go into the night
clubs, and there was no stigma (except economic need - have and have not - that
you had to work) attached to working at one of the clubs. Gradually they
left (were driven out) and that protection / insight left with them. They
may have turned there noses up at some of the patrons, but they respected the
Management (etc.) and realized that people were human. When some
people tried to keep the US from finding out that the fact that sugar
seems to be the main reason that some alcohol is addictive, and by
keeping us from researching and finding that in England a pub owner that adds
sugar to his brew is (a little more than) discredited they helped take this town
down.
Why? Genetics, like Hitler. By being able to
say that alcohol addiction has a genetic basis you open the door to things like
eugenics and trying to say that ethnic things are genetic. Homosexualism -
Genetic? Get real. But if you know about Iceland being predominantly
Female and China being predominantly male you start to look and wonder.

In June 1993 I attended the International AIDS conference in Berlin as a 
working journalist. There I observed what happened and did not happen. These 
had little resemblance to what was reported in the media, where almost 
everything newsworthy was blacked out. At some point -- whether in the 
self-censoring heads of reporters or in home-office editorial rooms -- 
widely observed events became non-events, if they were displeasing to the 
AIDS Establishment. For the record, I'll describe what happened, and then 
pose the question: what do AIDS conferences really accomplish? 
Despite over 6,000 presentations, nothing useful came out of the IXth 
International Conference on AIDS (Berlin: 7-11 June 1993). The prevailing 
mood was one of despair and confusion. Initially hopes had been aroused by 
an experimental vaccine developed by Jonas Salk, to be given to those 
already infected with HIV. These hopes were shattered when Salk 
gave an unimpressive presentation, which showed that the vaccine did 
nothing. 
Some drama was provided by Wellcome Pharmaceutical's frenetic efforts at 
damage control, in the aftermath of the Concorde Trial. The top 
researchers of the Anglo-French Concorde study adamantly stood by their 
findings, that AZT had no benefits for asymptomatic, HIV-positive 
individuals: AZT neither delayed the onset of AIDS nor prolonged their 
lives. Wellcome sponsored satellite symposia, gave free lunches, and 
published advertisements designed to disparage and downplay the Concorde 
findings, but to no avail. The media were unsympathetic, and share prices 
continued to fall. 
However, in one respect Berlin was a breakthrough. For the first time at 
an international AIDS conference, alternative voices could be heard, 
attacking the HIV-hypothesis, antiviral therapy, and other AIDS dogmas. The 
AIDS Establishment, which had previously relied upon censorship, was forced 
to respond with a series of slander campaigns and even violence directed 
against AIDS-critics. 
AIDS-dissidents came to Berlin from North and South America, Africa, 
India, and most European countries. Many of us had not met, or even known 
about each other before. During the entire week of the conference, the 
English language version of Fritz Poppenberg's documentary film, The 
AIDS Rebels, was shown in a Berlin cinema. AIDS-critics stood outside 
the conference center (ICC), with signs and leaflets denouncing the 
AIDS lie and the rat poison, AZT, and calling for a 
boycott of Wellcome. On Berlin's Open Channel Television, a total of 9 hours 
of AIDS-critical programs were shown, produced by Peter Schmidt and Kawi 
Schneider. For one day, before the conference organizers retaliated, 
AIDS-critics had a table inside the ICC itself (about which more below). 
And, not least important, some mainstream journalists began to criticize 
AIDS-orthodoxies, and to demand a hearing for alternative views. 
At the first press conference (6 June), several journalists asked 
conference organizer Karl-Otto Habermehl why no alternative viewpoints were 
represented. Why had not an invitation been issued to the foremost 
AIDS-critic, Peter Duesberg? Habermehl said that Duesberg had not submitted 
an abstract, and that alternative voices had not been excluded: they 
were represented at the conference by Act Up. Journalists were not satisfied 
with his answer, and pointed out that the conference had issued special 
invitations to members of Act Up and Project Inform, as well as to the 
discredited American AIDS expert, Robert Gallo. Habermehl angrily refused to 
respond, and the moderator said that no more such questions could be 
allowed. 
Later on the 6th, Act Up held a press conference, attended by only a 
handful of media people. Most of the 300 Act Up members had the 950 DM 
entrance fee waived by the organizers. Many of them had travelled to Berlin, 
staying in luxurious hotels with swimming pools, with all expenses paid by 
Wellcome Pharmaceuticals, the manufacturer of AZT. In response to a 
journalist's question, the Act Up representative from London admitted that 
his group had taken 50,000 pounds from Wellcome,

Considering that she was one of the lawyers
around when Nixon's Waterloo (opps Watergate) happened. And then you add
the fact of the Savings in Loan scandal as well as many others she has been
in. These lead me to say that in many ways she is as dirty if not dirtier
than the Bill Clinton.

The sex scandals - because they hope that if
they can keep the American people focused on some thing like that, that the
white collar crime that the Clinton's have been involved in Together can be
sweep under the rug.

Also while I am venting - wonder what might happen if they did
have witnesses and managed to take this farther than just the sex? Could
be Hillary will be right beside that male jerk.

People have been defining Capitalism. What you should be
defining is opportunist. Has anyone heard of the Novel Rich,
it means no manners and people like that were ostracized by the
Gentry.

Respect Hillary, she is lower than the lowest
scum. And that is an insult to the scum!

Curious, Environmental groups do not say that you have to quit
eating meat. Think of Coustou. All they say is that we should take
care of our food supply. They do not say that you can not train and ride a
horse or train and show or shoot over a dog. They do think that you should
do it without starving a animal. Compare the life of a show horse or a
show dog OR heaven forbid even a chinchilla that was bred for it's fur.
Let's take the horse or dog first well fed, well groomed, cared for in many
ways. Overall on average they are taken care of much better that the
normal family dog. Granted there is the risk of injury, that is true in
human athletes as well. The other thing that I have heard of, at times is
a great accumulation of animals (puppy mill), these are taken out - how many
family pets have had puppies and those puppies dropped off at the human society
or worse at the side of the road - these are not heard of as the animals slowly
starve or join into packs and hunt through the city or country until they have
to be killed. The show animal - worth a lot. The family dog many
times ends up at the pound when they are no longer cute babies or when the
family can not keep them due to economics or moving. The chinchilla and
along with it chickens and any other animal bred for use are covered in the next
section.

Why would people want to protest the use these animals are put
to? The farmer, the (previous) chinchilla breeder, the horse breeder, the
dog breeder, the person showing in 4H and anyone else that looks for health will
see things happening in animals faster than humans.

Getting people mad at ecologists - so does the farmer notice
the fact that there does not seem to be the diversity of animals (pests) around
the farm, do people notice that there are less road kills, does the homeowner
notice that there seems to be fewer songbirds. Not until the pesticides,
herbicides and the other chemicals start effecting the people that use them, or
pay for others to use these pesticides or herbicides (on their land) and then
have a reaction.

Male fish are producing eggs in their testes in the UK, the
reptiles in the everglades have smaller male genitalia and there is a lot of
mutations in the frogs that do manage to make it past the tadpole stage.

(SPECULATION) What do (some of) the (human) males that
know about this do? They eat well, stay away from these chemicals (as much
as possible) and see if they can get some female pregnant to see if they have
sperm or eggs in their testes and fuss if she gets a abortion before they can be
sure that they will actually have a viable child.

One last thing. Do you know what a set of ovaries look
like that have just released a egg? The egg actually bursts out of the
ovary and leaves a place which will scar in it's wake.

Food for thought. That egg is much larger than a
sperm. So which of you out there are already producing eggs in your
testes? What would happen if a egg were to try to get out of a
testes? Or maybe you have other things that are happening to your bodies?

So why get rid of the American Farmer that keeps animals for
food and try to only have mass produced, assembly line chickens, pigs, cattle
and dairy herds? Because the
American Farmer just might wake
up and start saying something!

Huh?  Most of the women I know who are on the pill have chosen to be on
it, not because their 'man' has demanded it..  They see it as a personal
choice that allows them to decide what happens to their bodies.  I admit
that there are risks involved n the pill..  the first generation of the
pill used mega-doses of hormones that are not especially safe and the
third generation pills have not yet been adequately tested, but all in
all I think that it is a woman's choice, with full knowledge of the
dangers.. and none of the men I know have ever 'demanded' it from
anyone..  Maybe you should find a new group of people.

In the 1980's there were some
that used Japan's educational system as a example of what America could
do. Japan's suicide rate (I believe) was actually lower than the American
rate.

We were looking at American schools
in the high income areas that had / have students that believe if you do not
have the best shoes, clothes, ect. When they did not have these the peer
group stress was high as well as the suicide rate. By placing these
statistics on academics - they were able to hide the true cause and it opened
the door to things like ADD / ADHD.

There is a lot of propaganda in this. And a lot of
money. The fight over control of the Educational system and not just
America's. Now days Japan is buying into this too. They are not
starting their children's education as soon any more. I wish someone would
put out the truth.

To illustrate how bad this is (if you can get past my grammar)

I was reading the Dec 7, 98
issue of Newsweek and it had a article in Science and Technology
that made me laugh. It refereed to a study of tasks where they had the
children do these tasks while in a MRI. The results said that the
Attention-regulating basal ganglia showed less blood flow for the NON-ADHD child
than it did for the ADHD child. If anyone has seen someone learning how to
read
*R-E-A-D* as they sound out the words. One
child would have a harder time -- LEARNING. Why? Because they have
not learned to tools and I am not (just) talking about having a biological
problem.

Japan's research was the pivotal point in getting Aspartame
authorized in America. Soda products over there have been sweetened with
Stevia for over 20 years. The US is the only country that uses bovine
growth hormone.

Now to get back on thread - What would have been the reason
that people would have given a green light to Aspartame? Sugar has been
shown to be addictive and the pubs in England are ostracized when they add it to
their brews.

Sugar causes problems with the neurological system - but pull
it off the market or say that they need to replace it with something else?
What would that do to Cuba? Well Castro seems to think that their are too
many fat cats down there anyway so I doult he would protest something being
place in competition. How much cane sugar do we use - I see corn syrup in
most items.

Now that was some of the history behind sugar and
Aspartame. It is also why I believe that with fudged test results that it
was allowed. This could mean that sugar actually has more adverse effects
than Aspartame since the FDA knew about the adverse effects of Aspartame to
begin with. Many say that the head of the FDA (during the Regan
Administration) when Aspartame was given the go ahead,
did it so that he could work for Monsanto
afterwards.

This may not be complete but I need to get back to
homework. If anyone wants more, ask questions and I will answer as much as
I know.

Is a artist efficient or effective?  What is the definition of each?
Efficient - cookie cutter modes, peer groups - sensationalism, because
pride, individualism is cut out.  In comparison the artist (no matter if
they paint, write, play pool) to create in any way is seldom efficient
during creation.  If you have problems, misunderstandings etc - because you
see things from another view point then you are not part of the peer group,
which is suppose to be efficient.  The true artist can easily do without sex
because the kind of awe that comes from being part of things is given
through their art.

Efficient, peer group, politically correct cookie modes lose the
creativeness, never have a chance to find it, or think that their ideas are
without merit.  They are more willing to follow because they have gotten in
trouble for not following.  ADD / ADHD is a good example.  In Science, and
the ideas that allow you to think that way - you are required to be
creative, to make hypothesis and think of ways to disprove those
hypothesis(es).  To have imaginative / magical thinking and then see if it
will hold up.

 I love fiction but I know that many have considered it to be a waste of
time.  Yet, writers can have that creative streak too.   Do not
intellectualize the Bible and only read the New Testament and...
So when did they start putting out the New Testament by it's self?

It seems much more likely that he uses sex to prove the he can take over
and control.  I would be curious to know the which "sugar daddies" he took
those females away from.  Strange that it was the police that went to pick
up his females.  Could be that there were (at least) several times that he
was not even interested in the sex per se.  Think of the example that things
like this give to the people and students that are interested in political
science or law.  Might makes right.  Then you have Bush SR too, I guess all
students need to have is someone backing them with a lot of power so that
they can get away with plagiarizing - putting the answers in the blanks.
Crack a book!  Why?

There are business classes in schools that talk about the
depersonalization of business.  It shows that the unique ideas have gained
market share.  To me the course was about how to be efficient in business -
and I HATED it!  You are either efficient or effective.  Some times the
ideas and people that are effective do not seem to be efficient since the
better you are the more you may be working with different ideas and able to
correlate those ideas to work with many different people.

I would rather be effective!

Males can't live with them, Can live without them!  -- sorry about that.

 What I would be giving up (if I thought like that) and I do not want
to.  How would I chose a male and why do I think that Clinton is nothing
more than a gigolo (in sex) and not a good one.  He is cold blooded other
wise.

Whether a male gets paid for it or Pays for it, if education, and the belief
that anyone is capable of learning most anything that they want to is not
there, he is nothing more than a sexual object...Yes, that would include
a husband.

What criteria do I use to find a decent mate (partner)?
1) Does it walk on two legs
2) Is it a he (male)
3) Does he have to qualities of an intelligent animal
Trustfulness, loyalty, knows what he can and can't do, is
capable of learning,
Knows what the word NO means!
Hey, if they are to be better than animals they should be able to
Best the best
animals.
4) Being willing to stay around even after sex - being interested in me for
more than
sex.
5) Interested in education and it supporting the education of what ever
children may
result.
6) Does he show the qualities of a human?  Not sharing his personal life
with me with
 his buddies (verbally or otherwise)
7) Capable of teaching me,
8) Willing to understand me and work in a collaboration with me.
9) Does not idolize the fact that he is a male - Kinda "Does he wear his
maleness or
does it wear him"
10) When I hand him something off the wall can he send it back as well as
take it
Without it bruising his ego.
11) Is he willing to try to walk a mile in my shoes - before he criticizes.

Clinton got stuck when I was defining the criteria of an intelligent animal.
