Consciousness "seems" to provide higher level reasoning/intuitive syntheses in general intelligence. Humans provide that component of consciousness now in the creation of AGI. I don’t think an AGI would auto-create itself without consciousness present even on some alien planet. We might be mistaking that higher level reasoning synthesis as "consciousness" it might just be some component of consciousness, p-consciousness or some part of the "self"... Whatever that thing is now my mind has locked onto that pattern, it's a mathematical synthesizer thing I see it as, that autoruns and fuses structures together (thinking out loud now)... I was also thinking though from a meta standpoint, perhaps graphs of conscious entity nodes (people) can be modeled as consciousness flow similar to electron/electron-hole flow for when an individual consciousness disappears, dies, in relation to the genetic tree of species collective learning for knowledge transmissions inter-generationally. IOW the absence of consciousness instances compared to electronic network hole flow in mathematical circuit models on the genetic tree in a dynamical interactive evolution. Just a thought...
