Someone just brought up an important point that is a very good one for using straight-out right arm for a right turn. Bicyclists also need to know that I am turning right, and PLEASE don't come up on my right side when I'm signally a turn. A bent-left arm is definitely less likely to be seen by a bicyclist that is about to creep up on my right. That person/vehicle is probably a greater danger to me at that point than a car/driver that is in any position on the road.
I have had more than one bicyclists just about get nailed, or nail me by passing on my right
