Since you have an E36, I would go with Kosei wheels in
E36 fitment. They are strong and reliable wheels and are
available in 17 inches which is a better size
for the E36 on the track.

I have a set of ASA JS1 wheels, 15x7, which I use for my autocross tires.
They seem sturdy, and while they're not really heavy, they are not as light
as I'd like.

On the E30 they require a centering ring. Tire Rack originally sent me
plastic trim rings, even though they mounted the Kumho V700s on them for
me. A year later I saw an article by Tire Rack's John Rastetter in
Grassroots Motorsports magazine saying to be sure to get metal centering
rings if you use the wheels for anything more than just cruising around on
the street. Well, what did they think I was gonna use those Kumhos for?
So I bought metal centering rings. Anyway, be sure to ask in advance if
you need the rings for your application, and if you do, get metal ones.

I have no personal experience with Team Dynamics wheels, but
James Clay (Bimmerworld) put together a pretty large order of
15" 4x100 wheels for the SpecE30 guys and it would seem to
be _extremely_ poor marketing on his part if he were to get behind
a product which was inferior, esp for a group of racers.

perhaps James will comment on his experiences with the TD
wheels, he cited them to some degree when he initially posted
about them (I've cc'ed him on this note).

Which 15" wheels were forged? What do they weigh?

Apply leverage. If you have a jack with a removable pump arm, remove the
arm and slip it over the wrench, then try to loosen the screw holding the
end of the jack pump arm. You could also use metal pipe or any other such
"arm". Barring that, I had to use a foot instead of a hand to get the diff
or tranny fill or drain plug (I forget which) on my e36. My legs have more
strength than my arms.

And don't forget to cuss at it - a lot.

Grettings all,

I was trying to change the transmission fluid on my
manual 95 325i this weekend and could not for the life
of me remove the filling plug. I was using hand tools
Wrench)and jack stands to lift the car. I don't
remember it being this tough the last time I changed
it and I know I didn't over tighten the plug since I
can still see some threads portruding out. Drenched
the plug in WD 40 and still nothing. Any tips or
secrets on how to remove this thing?? I don't have
air tools so I have to rely on hand tools wits. Any
help would be greatly appreciated. TIA!!

What about another set of OE wheels? Lot's of folks have upgraded to
something different and these go for short cash on eBay, etc. They are at
least of known quality, and for DE's you aren't going wheel to wheel for the
lead.

For that matter, 15" wheels are lighter, cheaper and should fit your 328i.
15" tires are cheaper too...

I've been using this for a year or more on my old P-car and our '95 M3
(non-lux) which has acres of plastic and couldn't be happier with the
result. It is particularly nice on the textured BMW plastic as the smooth
older P-car plastic picks up a slight shine. It is entirely non-greasy,
doesn't attract dust, and doesn't impart that slick shine that you get from
some vinyl sprays (though it does add a bit of a moister, newer look which
is hard to describe but which I have come to like).

My only complaint is that it's hard to find. I had to order it from some
Jeep catalog or something.

KC, a guy gave me a free sample can of 303 once. I used it on the dash and
some interior parts. It worked fine. Never tried it on the exterior.

What sort of ///M car has a VIN like 5UMCN93402LK61238?

I thought the South Carolina cars got to keep WBS prefixes, but Carfax shows
the number above to belong to an M Coupe.

Something seems fishy to me. Or did I just miss the memo?

The government forced BMW to stop using the illegal VINs on the Z3/X5
vehicles a long time ago. I was not aware of the 5UM prefix, most Z3's that
I've seen with legal VINs have had 1US prefixes.

However, according to BMW, the VIN you supply is for an 01/2002 MCoupe with
S54. Sold new in Brooklyn NY, on 8/20/02.

New vehicle warranty in force until 8/20/06, 6/100 engine warranty in force.
Full maintenance until 8/20/05 or 36K miles.

Last recorded mileage with BMW was 4,689 on 11/19/03 at United BMW in GA.

Car came from factory with a glass moon roof and a cup holder as the only
listed options.

Hope this helps.

I've tried lots of brands of wheels and always seem to come back to BBS. I
had my car on the dyno today. They got it up to 220MPH and there was not a
hint of wobble or out of roundness in my BBS RK2 wheels at any speed. They
are just worth more than some brands. Nothing wrong with AC Schnitzer,
Hamann, SSR, and many others too. Check ebay for pricing on used quality
wheels if you want to save some bucks. I saw some Hamann's at 50% of list
the other day. I also heard that Racing Dynamics (or is it RD Sport in the
USA) is clearing out some model wheels. Tire Rack has/had a special running
on RK2 wheels and maybe RK as well.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that BMW now recommends that the
ATF fluid be changed every 100,000 miles. The four speed GM transmission
in my 528iA uses Dexron III; I had the local BMW dealer change the fluid
in the transmission as well as the synthetic oil in the final drive.
Total cost: $109.69 (!) At that price I may start changing it every
50000 miles...
