The difference being that the GTO/Monaro/Commodore/Lotus Omega rear toe-control links are there to maintain toe through the suspension travel - not something that's part of the traditional semi-trailing-arm repertoire. It turns out that the easiest access was to take out the headlight assembly. To do this remove the top row of 3 screws. There are then two other screws at the bottom corners of the assembly which need to be removed. How do you do this master? Easy grasshopper..... there are two openings in the top of the headlight area which when you peer down you can see the two screws. With a 1/4" drive , 10mm socket with magnet, and a universal extension you can get to each of these screws. Because my universals flop around, I put one hand into the area behind the lights to hold the universals steady while removing the screws. The horns were then right in the volume below the light assembly and easily tested and replaced. Note, this setup has the Dinan intake and may be different for stock models. -Kevin ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 12 Mar 2005 08:54:47 -0500 From: Neil Maller <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "[email protected]" <[email protected]> Subject: Re: GTO comments Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> on 3/11/05 6:59 PM, John Miller <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > The loss of trunk space to the gas tank is unfortunate, but GM decided > they didn't want to bring a car with the gas tank under the trunk floor > into the US following all the hullabaloo and silliness over the Crown Vic. See: http://www.freep.com/money/autonews/car8_20031208.htm http://www.freep.com/autos/crownvictoria.htm http://www.autosafety.org/getcat.php?cid=34 Is there something silly about not wanting to be burned to death? (Although note that unlike the Holden Monaro the Crown Vic's tank is not under the trunk floor, so the technical issue isn't the identical.) I'm not sure why GM/Holden seems to think that putting the gas tank outside the wheelbase and under the trunk floor is good enough for Aussies, but GM/Pontiac at least deserves some credit for not perpetuating a grossly obsolete and unsafe practice in the new GTO. Mike has done a super job fixing and upgrading the car. We spent over an hour going through all the items. Not only did I get the car, there was a trunk full of new and used spare parts for roadside emergencies (eg: water pump) or future wear and tear (brake pads, rotors, filters, etc.). I had a great drive up the Pacific Coast Highway, stopping at the Santa Monica Pier... http://www.geocities.com/bradhouser/535i-4.jpg San Marcos Pass (the twisty CA 154 alternate to US 101 from Santa Barbara north) ... http://www.geocities.com/bradhouser/535i-3.jpg Pismo Beach (no I didn't drive across the creek)... http://www.geocities.com/bradhouser/535i-2.jpg and at the scenic vista by Limekiln Creek. http://www.geocities.com/bradhouser/535i-1.jpg Unfortunately I managed to drive over a nail after getting home, now I am waiting for a Pirelli P7000 Supersport in 265/40/17 to go on the rear. The tire didn't survive the 20 mile drive to work, and the model is discontinued. (Mike gave me an unmounted tire for the front, so I don't want to mix up the family.) I found it at Balado.com for $170. It feels good to get back to real Bimmer driving after being an X5 driver for the 2+ years since I sold my M3C. E36 M3 Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> My son recently bought a $1,300 set of H&R Coil-Overs for his E36 M3, and they "did not" include the necessary tool to adjust the height (not dampening)...height only. He was "pissed"! He can get the tool by sending in the receipt & out of stock note that was included, but that sort of screws up his weekend project installing them...without being able to adjust em proper. If anyone in the Akron, Ohio would be so kind as to loan Justin a tool that would be immensely appreciated!!! :-) You can count on dealing with an honest club member in dealing with my son! You may contact Justin directly @ [EMAIL PROTECTED] , or e-mail me. If all he needs is a spanner wrench and you have a Harbor Freight store in town or nearby they probably have a set that may work. Tell him to briing the adjuster collar or whatever the adjustment device is with him to make sure. Carlos. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo!
