I run both AVG and Avast, and like them both. Brett, you should also, if you haven't already, be running the new Microsoft (beta) spyware program. I run that simultaneously with Spybot. And don't forget ZoneAlarm for a firewall! vty, --Dennis -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Spencer Fong Sent: Friday, May 13, 2005 8:48 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [UUC] <OT> Anti Virus quickie question Free AVG here: http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php And people rave about: http://www.avast.com/ > What's a good, free, anti-virus program? BUMBLEBEE GOOD. But so are both those virus checkers. According to the short description, it will discuss about the all the 3 series from the 1968 2002 to the new 2006. My guess is that this is going to be a 30 min infomercial for the new 3 series. Anyway, just letting you guys know just in case anyone is interested. mike ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 14 May 2005 07:26:22 -0400 From: Martin Bullen <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [email protected] Cc: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [bmwuucdigest] digest(10 messages) Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Tom, The 533i uses a 1.5kW Bosch direct drive starter; the 524td a 2.2kW Bosch gear reduction starter: physically pretty different, but the important parts for interchangeability are the starter nosepiece, pinion gears and solenoid connections, and I can't tell without looking at the two side-by-side whether you have a shot or not on this. If you can confirm the model years for the two cars, I'll take a look at how similar they are when I get back to work on Monday. Don't get your hopes up too high; the stupid little changes from one model year to the other, let alone between models can be enough to drive you nuts with this stuff. Strange- never heard of or experienced this before. Tried another cartridge- Load/read seem normal, but Disk Error again when trying to play. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do (short of replacing it)? My OE E34 CD changer started skipping so I took it apart (fairly obvious screws) and lubricated all the joints and gears and sliding parts with plastic gear lube (which I had from my model railroading days). I dunno if regular lubricating oil would harm all them plastic parts, but the changer has been working fine for a few years since. Regards, Jon __________________________________ Yahoo! Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> I'm sure I'm not the first to ask this question here, but does anyone have any good advice about what spots to hit, and with what product, to minimize squeaks and rattles specifically related to the top and windows on E30 convertibles? I've got the Gummi-Pflege (or however it's spelled - I don't actually have it here in front of me) which seemed to help a bit, but that's just for the rubber window seals, I think. Back when I used to take it to the dealer, the car would be almost silent for a while after I got it back, so I know it can be done. Of course you need to be careful so that whatever you use doesn't run back out and make a mess. I've had mine for 10 years and can't say that I've ever been annoyed by noises from the top, other than the tremendous wind noise you get from that thin single-layer canvas. The passenger seat is squeaky though if nobody is sitting in it. -- "It is an honor to be Cookie Monster." -Sesame Street spokeswoman Audrey Shapiro ------------------------------ End of [bmwuucdigest] digest(8 messages) **********
