My next questions then would be:

- What brand of rear shock mounts did you use the last time?
- How many miles had they been in use?
- What combination of shocks/springs do you you have?

Rich

Well, there can be a big difference between OEM and aftermarket parts. If they
were Meyle for
instance, anything goes. I had Meyle tie rods fail within 8k miles for
instance when the stock
parts lasted over 100k miles.

> They have about 15-20k miles on them.

Well, I have seen OEM RSMs last a fair bit longer than that. But, it wouldn't
surprise me at all
that aftermarket RSMs die that quickly.

Rich

Personal opinion here, I would hold out for a car with VANOS. The '92
E36/M50 did not have VANOS. Any E36 that you buy for track use will
need the rear floor reinforced to prevent the subframe from ripping
out. Otherwise, lots of listers are running E36s in club racing and
on the track with good results. There are lots of them out there that
are in better condition than the one you listed.

So does this mean he wouldn't give a "5" on every question of the dealer survey?

Later,

Rich

Worst part of the story is that the dealership had a Ford GT in the
showroom when it was torched.

That's only if you believe that a human life is worth less than a Ford.
