I like the Pilkington windshield that I had installed in my 318ti. It does not
appear to be as prone to sand pits as the original glass and is actually
clearer, as it has less distortion than the original. mine was arround $300.00
installed.

PPG glass does not pit as easily as OEM glass - that is what I would
buy. I haven't researched who sells PPG windshields in the Bay Area,
but I should.

Two years ago I had a local shop/chain (Triumph Auto Glass) do my '96 318i
for $175 + tax. The old glass was really pitted (120k miles). They did ask
if I was paying or an insurance company. I paid out o' pocket.

well everything costs more out here. your house if it's an "average home"
like mine probably cost 1/5 mine. that property "premium" us lucky citizens
of the PRC pay works it way up through everything.

Barry did ask for a SF bay area price. But of course since the bay area is
going to start saving so much by not supporting the military I'm sure
everything will get cheaper in the future.

The reference is only obtuse to those who can not "imagine all the
people, living life in peace..."
Some may "say I'm a dreamer, but "I'm not the only one, I hope someday"
in sooner than 1000 years, maybe before the next congressional election,
the rest of you will join me and the others to whom Supervisor
Sandoval's comments already make perfect sense, "and the world will live
as one."
Maybe with the new windshield, I'll get 'Jack a new license plate,
too. It will say "M AGINE"

I just finished taking off the clutch again. The flywheel shows some
signs of burning, the pressure plate as well, and the clutch disc is
shiny on the flywheel side.

The shaft that the throw-out bearing slides on was well polished from
the throw-out bearing. It seemed like it could of been grabbing there
and that would be why the clutch would jam up and not disengage
occasionally.

I picked up a new shaft for that throwout bearing and this one is a
different part number with slightly different tapering at the end.
Perhaps the throw-out bearing was meant for this design.

Last time I followed BMW's recommendations on greasing locations (not
on the shaft, only on the pivot points). This time I will put some
grease on the shaft. Molybdenum grease is fine for this right? UUC
recommended copper anti-seize but I've read that this slings off
easily. I have noticed some of this flung out onto the clutch disc.

I will have to have the pressure plate resurfaced. The flywheel I am
going to buy a new steel insert. What about the clutch disc? Can that
be resurfaced at a machine shop as well? I am worried about it being
burned too.

Rob, do you guys sell just the clutch discs?

Germany's TüV certification process includes testing of the down-force of an
aftermarket
suspension? I thought their certification was largely about safety and quality.

Hello,

Any new part can not be unsafe. I would think that includes highspeed testing
for a suspension part.

I know any aerodynamic spoiler would included high speed testing - to show
the new part would not be unsafe at speed. I think springs and shocks would
also
fall into that safety category.

Not being unsafe, and tuned to improve downforce are two different things.
At any rate, lowering the front does reduce lift at both the front and the
rear.
