Occassional squirrelness on agressive turns and going overing bumps, that sort of thing, but no noises. What is a reasonable quote for an independent shop doing this work with stock BMW parts? Given that I don't have a press but a good set of tools otherwise, is this a job I can take on myself? Can anyone point me to a website that outlines this work? I just finished replacing both shock mounts and pitman arms (dog bones) on my 94 540, and it was a pretty simple weekend job requiring nothing more special than a set of spring compressors. I did it all based on my Bentley manual and some from this site: http://www.bmwe34.net/e34main/ I did not do the sub-frame bushings, which seem to need special tools, but it did help the squirreliness of the back end. In fact, if you are just replacing the pitman arms, you can do that with just putting the rear wheels up on a ramp or blocks. Leave the wheels on and the suspension loaded, which is what seems to be recommended when torqueing them down. Very easy to do.
