I ask only because the CPO standards are often purportedly higher at factory dealerships. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 5 Jun 2007 06:24:23 -0700 From: "Brad Houser" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "'Celisa'" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, "'BMW'" <[email protected]> Subject: Re: BMW Group Where Is It Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> It hasn't been the same since Duane Collie left. Duane leaves every group he ever joins or starts, usually more than once. In this case my '78 911SC. It needs new door seals and I wonder if after I peel off the current seal, is there a solvent which will remove the old glue without removing the paint? Or if I make a boo boo with the 3M seal glue, I'd like to be able to recover. Ohhh, the problem is I noticed water in the footwells and traced it to the door seals. I'd like to get the car ready for sale and will fix this before selling it. It didn't work too well, but worked great at starting to remove the clear coat and paint. Boo. $14 down the drain, unless someone wants to buy it off me. It would probably work great for removing adhesives as long as you don't rub too much. Funny thing is the can says it works without damaging cured paint. The problem with the paint in the engine compartment, wheel wells, and underbody, is that a lot of it just seems to be overspray and/or not really bonded to the metal. Especially, if you are like me, and you start using a scrub brush on the underbody along with Oil Flow Safety Solvent. I use 3M General Purpose Adhesive Remover for the easy stuff and Oil Flow Safety Solvent for the really nasty cosmoline and glue stuff.
