Not true. Not all registrars use the admin email address to
verify a transfer request.
Many use a signed fax authorization form to verify the
transfer.
Which is the same as item 1, requiring a fax. But solves
future problems.
And with individuals like him, there will always be a future
problem. So I don't mind losing him as a client, let
somebody else enjoy his business.
In hosting, 10% of the clients have 90% of the problems.
Once identified we don't hesitate to tell the 10% to find
another host. And domain name registration is less
profitable than hosting, so we have even less hesitation
about telling someone to find another supplier.

Number 3 will also require him to get the e-mail address
updated or
reactivate the AOL account so he can receive the
authorization e-mail from
the new registrar.
