I've been forced to use Outlook XP at work more and more, and I thought I'd
write about some of the things that I find it lacks. Entourage is so much
more helpful for me.
* I like being able to click on a contact and find the the last sent and
received message. Much better than resorting the Sent Items folder.
* Links. Now I don't have to remember where I put things.
* Categories. I know there are categories in Outlook, but they don't seem to
do as much. They just make sense in Entourage.
* Quoting and AutoText Clean up. The Outlook style of
reply-by-turning-text-blue-and-copying-everything makes it hard to respond
to individual snips of email.
* Running rules from a contextual menu on items in folders.
* Contextual views. Wow.
* The menus stay the same when I browsing email and composing them. In
Outlook, I can't adjust the program preferences ("options") when I'm writing
email.
Sure, there are lots of things about Outlook I hope that Entourage will
learn--Exchange compatibility, .pst files, speed, multi-users--but in terms
of interface and easy of use, Entourage wins hands down. Thanks guys--maybe
you can have some words with the Outlook programmers?
