Yes, of course. It's not meant to derate Rome or the people living there.
Rome is a very beautiful city with lots of photographic opportunities. I
really enjoyed all my trips to Rome. When I once had trouble to find my hotel,
which was far outside the center, a complete stranger picked me up when I was
totally lost and actually searched for my hotel and drove me there with his
car. I really didn't expect this and I don't think something like this is likely
to happen here in Germany.
It just came to my mind when I read "Trip to Rome" ;-) With all the gazillions
of tourists walking around with cameras there, it's not surprising this attracts
thieves as well. Anyway, it's probably wise NOT to check in photographic gear
everywhere on the planet and not to leave it in the hotel as well, at least not
at sites with lots of tourists like Rome.
Anyway, I could have made good use of a 24mm TSE there. I'm still waiting to find
one of those beauties used for a good price... And it's about time to revisit
Rome once again and improve my quite mediocre results of 1991-92. Maybe this
spring...
