I mean you get a 3232, an AS clamp, and an L bracket, you're getting light in the wallet and heavy on the monopod. Does it make sense - maybe for some shooters.
I agree about the L bracket, but the AS clamp is pretty trivial, weightwise. I've converted to all AS-style QRs, (since I have a B-1) so I have a couple AS clamps that I got for about $40 each that I use on my monopod, minipod, macro rail, etc. There's another company making AS clamps and plates for much less than Kirk and RRS - name escapes me right now, something like Newtech.
