Hey Richard: I do not believe your "friend" will/would have a problem with the FAA. However, the insurance company may be another story. If something happened that could pose a problem liability wise it is hard to say what would happen. I assume you have looked at the aircraft records from the FAA (CD only costs 6 bucks and is well worth it). I do recommend you talk to John Wright, JR. about converting a D back to a C model (217) 698-8243.
