Question # 2 is about the Wallstreet. Since I could install the
laserprinter, I would like to go for the old scanner too. How do I go from the
USB to the Wallstreet? I do not see anything obviously compatible--at least to
me...

For USB on a Wallstreet you should buy a PC card ( PCMCIA to be exact but also
called Cardbus card) that fits into the PC slot on the left hand side of your
Wallstreet.
Something like this
http://cgi.ebay.com/USB2-0-4-Ports-CardBus-PCMCIA-Card-Adapter-Power-Cable_W0QQitemZ390056153530QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item5ad12891ba
and it doesn't have to be a Mac specific one nor require drivers either.
Just make sure you have the right printer driver for your OS and you should be
good to go.
I suggest a four port card because in my Wallstreet I have the same with my
printer attached, a USB mouse ( I hate using laptop trackpads for more than a
minute ) and I always seem to have a flash drive plugged in as well leaving
just one port spare.
